So when I moved the area, I had to check out my local quilt shop. (I did have a heads up because I help my mom at quilt shows and have met them). The shop was wonderful! It is fairly large and spread out which helps the flow. There is a selection of moda, freespirit, hoffman, etc. I would say that there is something for everyone, but the shop leans more contemporary with some modern. There is tons of color, which always excites me. There is also a good selection of grunge for those who look for that. Prices are fair and typical for quilting cotton. She does have some sales to check out. I feel like quilters know the value of quilting cotton. Those who are looking for cheap fabric would be disappointed and would be better served at the box stores. The staff is attentive and kind. I know within my quilt guild there is a high regard for the owner, which is good. I think this place is a gem. read more

Lovely selection of fabric, patterns, rulers etc. Always nice staff. Do overwhelm you when you enter, but helpful if you need help. I enjoy shopping here, wish I lived closer, but my checkbook is glad I do not. read more

The Quilting Needle is located in Hartwood Towne Center next to Sip Taproom. They offer something for everyone from the beginner to the experienced customer. They primarily carry cotton fabric, but they also offer a limited supply of fleece fabrics. Here you can find everything you need to start a project, from fabrics, sewing notions, and starter kits. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The Quilting Needle also provides sewing machine maintenance through Jeff's Sewing Station. read more

I traveled down to Glenshaw to check out this store. I had a little difficulty finding it because I was unfamiliar with the area. Also, it may have been due to the GPS program I was using. It is located among other businesses in a strip mall with different buildings. I had to circle around a few times to find the store and then find parking. Once inside, I noticed the store is well organized with lots of samples of different sewing projects and quilts. The staff wasn't as helpful but I think that was due to the crush of quilters doing a "quilt hop." The ladies were busy cutting fabric and handing out items. I think on a regular day, the staff would be helpful and not as stressed. If I lived closer, I would shop here as the choice of fabrics, notions, patterns were numerous and of good quality. read more

Love this shop, they generally have the newer fabric lines and more modern feel. Welcoming and helpful. I'm not sure that everyone that works there actually quilts but a helpful attitude and smile will get you far in my book. I was looking for a particular fabric a couple weeks ago, the girl didn't think they had it, checked with another staffer to confirm (and they didn't)but at least she tried! Wonderful shop. The selection of fabrics leans toward modern and batiks, but has something for everyone- Florals, Novelties, and a large selection of precuts. Huge variety of patterns, especially nice selection of bag and purse patterns (and the required hardware hung beside each one!) I f they don't have what you are looking for, they're more than happy to order it in, and usually arrives within a week. Always the first place I look for my quilting needs. One thing to keep in mind- Yelp and Google List the business hours incorrectly. The website has the correct info. read more
