I call The Racket Doctor 'the old school tennis store.' I've been a customer since I first started playing tennis which was when I was a little kid, almost 2 decades. I was referred by my coach to this day, I still come in to get restrung. They do a good job restringing and always put a label with the specs. They are fast and call you normally, within a few days maybe even less to pick-up. Their demo program is good. You can demo 1-2 rackets for a week then switch out. If you need a little more time with the rackets, phone in. They are pretty nice about it if you just communicate. I would rate 5 but the reason I put 4 stars is the "hits" and "misses" when I visit, particularly about the customer service and their general inventory. I've had top-class service from Beau previously, and a woman (I forget her name :( but she classifies herself as a hard hitter, heavy racket, and top spin player ha! She showed me how to determine if a racket is engineered to be power or precision rackets just by feeling and looking. They knew their stuff. The misses were when I came in and was offered help separate times, but I was offered not so great recommendations/ recs that were not what I needed, didn't mention some hint of knowledge that they understand different racket and string specs... average customer service of "yea, look around and see what you like. What you see is what we have" Thumbs down. This goes for the shoe section too. Now with their merch, they carry the popular stuff that sells but you can't get a racket in a particular color, underrated racquets, color shoes etc . No service to have the color/model shipped to the store. Also, I always check the sales section but every single time, I can never find my women's size 6/7 (which I know is the most popular shoe size) but I always see HUGE, multiple inventory of sizes like 10, 12, 14...this goes for shoes and clothing. I've never once bought anything at the sales section in my size, ever. They don't carry fun, stylish, likable colors of shoe models, tennis models..clothing like pleated tennis skirts with pockets, there's no current tennis hat or visor options, sweatbands, eyewear in different colors and styles, no cute bear key charms for tennis bag to promote Racket Doctor which I would proudly carry!...even not much color selection for grips. No patterns, no fun colors. I would be purchasing way more if they were more open and just more fun. Pricing is fair for their services. So they are very reliable for stringing service, and demo'ing, getting your usual Tour Bite strings but don't expect to find something in particular. read more

I went back to get my strings restrung. This time, they remembered to put the sticker info on the racket. Good job. This time, my only complaint is that the Asian guy who was there didn't really seem knowledgeable when it came to string recommendations. Been to the Racket Doctor over many years, at first for tennis rackets and shoes, now for pickleball sneakers. They have a good selection of court shoes which work for tennis as well as pickleball and if there is a sneaker you are looking for, they will do their best to get it for you. I find it best to try on sneakers as you never know from shoe to shoe what feels the best. It is also nice to support individual shop owners. Friendly and helpful service. read more

The quality and kindness of this shop are unmatched. My high school tennis playing son gets a tremendous amount out of his visits and purchases here as the staff always takes time to educate him and encourage him. After the Eaton fire last year the shop even reached out, asking how they could help and replacing his racket and shoes free of charge so he could get back on the court. I very rarely write reviews but I've had two great experiences with racket doctor that I think are worth mentioning! The most recent is the easiest (it's the little things) but I bought new grip tapes today and a super nice employee (Alex) spent the time to show me how to apply the grip while he changed it for me after I admitted I had never done it. The first time I went in, I decided to get a new racket because I had had mine since I was a teen. For some needed context, this was a nice racket that I had been gifted and then I didn't play for 10 years or so. I didn't really know what I had! I brought it with me to talk to the folks at RD and they could have easily sold me a $300 new racket. Instead the employee (didn't catch his name) took a look at my current one and very honestly told me this was a VERY nice racket and it just needed some new strings and grip. He walked me through options and we made my beloved racket sing again! He said, "they don't make these models like this anymore." It's been playing fantastically. He easily could have spent way less time with me, showed me a few rackets and I would have walked out. Instead he made sure he had a loyal customer! I've been back several times for various needs and will absolutely be buying a new racket from them when the time comes. Super great spot. The store feels very welcoming and the staff is very friendly and helpful. They also have very fast service. I made an appointment to get my racket re strung and shopped while I waited. In n out in under half an hour, no need to drop off my racket and come back to get it. I imagine they probably get busy sometimes so if you want to get in and out I would call ahead to make an appointment. The store also has a great selection of tennis gear at good prices. Great sales! Got a pair of Wilson tennis shoes for 20 bucks. They also had some other really good deals on other tennis equipment. Literally anything you could need for tennis they have it. Gave my racket to string and the guy at the counter said they had Wilson natural gut, but when I went to pick up the racket he said they used Babolat natural gut. They didn't call me ask me whether it's ok or not. I took it back, and gave my string. I told them what tension I want. They purposely had a wrong tension and I have no control at all when I hit with it. I know, when I string my racket how it should feel. It was worse than before i gave it to them. When I first started playing tennis I came here because it was close to me and I had heard good things. The first time I came I walked in and no one said anything to me. There were many employees but no one even looked at me. I wanted to buy a racket and stood by them. Nothing. I stood at the counter. Nothing. I left after five minutes with no one ever saying one word to me. I came back a couple days later because I didn't know where else to go and the same thing happened. This time I went up to someone who at first ignored me and then when they realized I wasn't walking away said "oh do you need help?". I told them I was new to tennis and was looking for a racket. I had done some research and tried friend's rackets and told them what I wanted. They recommended one to me and while they had mentioned something about demoing it, they weren't clear and I didn't understand that I could try it out. I bought the racket and got it strung and they never explained anything about the strings to me. They just kept asking what I wanted like I knew what they meant, but I didn't. I really wish I had demoed the racket because I ended up disliking it. It was a racket for spin, which I wouldn't have wanted, and then after doing research I learned it was for more advanced players. I felt like the employee didn't listen to me when I was saying what I wanted and recommended a bad racket for a beginner. This is definitely partially my fault, but I was new to tennis and didn't know what I was doing and it wasn't clear I was allowed to borrow rackets and try them. I ended up selling the racket because I disliked it so much. I then came back to demo some other rackets now that I had been playing longer and learned more about what I wanted. I explained what I wanted and they recommended one. I tried and it immediately knew it wasn't what I wanted. I went back to trade it in and got one I ended up liking. I was interested in buying it but had questions about the bigger head size. When I went to return it I wanted to talk to someone but instead they were just like "thanks bye" and walked away. Never asked what I thought, if I wanted to demo another one, if I wanted to buy it, nothing. I ended up going and demoing the bigger head size somewhere else and buying it there. Nearly everyone I dealt with here was unhelpful and acted annoyed at any question I had. I feel like they probably get a lot of people who think they want to play tennis because it's trendy and maybe they don't take it seriously. But there are a lot of people who are new to tennis and are going to take it seriously. We will have questions and need to given advice. No one here seemed to care at all about answering my questions and the advice I got honestly seemed bad. read more

A little disappointed how things have changed since the ownership change. I know everyone says Randy was temperamental and it just depended on how he was feeling that day on how your interaction was going to be with him but that was part of the experience. That feeling of it being a mom and pop shop are over. Ok, so they cleaned it up and now you can walk around without having to slide by people but now they don't have the selection they used to have. I miss the old anniversary sales where almost everything went on sale. Now its just clothing and shoes. I used to love popping in to see what crazy deal they had for the month. $1 sets of strings or $50 racquets. No more of that. I get you have to make money to pay the bills but I miss the old racket doctor. Now it just feels like just another boutique tennis store. read more

Who do you call when your racket is not feeling well, needs re-stringing and a bumper guard/grommet set--The Racket Doctor, of course! Recently, I dropped off a racket to be re-stringed. The grommets have seen better days so it needed to be replaced, as well. I waited few days since the store was closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, but it was worth the wait. The strings looked great as I took a quick glance while paying for the racket, but the bumper guard/grommets did not look so hot. They were not replaced. Huh? I explained what happened to sales person and she spoke to the manager. It was an hour till closing so I was expecting to come back another day to pick up the racket. The manager explained the work order did not show grommet replacement (only restringing), but they would restring and replace the bumper guard/grommet, right away, and I could pick it up before closing. The racket was finished in around 20 minutes. It looked great - strings, bumper guard/grommets...everything! I went to pay for the bumper guard since I only paid for restringing, earlier, but the staff member said something shocking, "There is no charge." I told them I did not pay for the set, yet, but I got the same response. Wow - talk about customer service. The team at The Racket Doctor are amazing! I was searching for a replacement Bumper Guard and Grommet set for my older Babolat racket. Stephanie was great - she helped me over the phone and checked if they had it in stock so that I wouldn't have to make the drive out if they didn't have it. They had it, and she got me an appointment within 2 hours to get my racket restrung, which they finished in 30 minutes. She advised me that I actually didn't need the bumper guard and grommet change. Love tennis? Then you'll love this place because they have it all! I personally like how I can wait for my racquets to get restrung within an hour and shop for gear in the meantime. The prices at RD are by far the best, and the selection of gear and apparel are great. They always keep a good stock of top rated balls which helps buying the amount that you need vs having to buy an entire case from the online tennis shops. I was banned from this place for trying to return defective merchandise. I assumed the store would honor my return, like any other store. I was not aware of their NO RETURNS, NO REFUNDS POLICY; not very good at reading the small print. So when you go there, BEWARE. The owner was unnecessarily rude and uncouth to me. The merchandise is overpriced and they only give store credit for returns - no refunds. I found this out the hard way when I attempted to return a $26 sun visor less than 24 hours after I purchased it. The clerk who sold it to me had not mentioned their "No Refunds!" policy, or I would have reconsidered the purchase. Sad that a small local business would engage in such sketchy business practices, especially when their prices are as high as they are. Best prices even against online. $10 racket demos and if you end up buying, then the demo fee is waved. I tried the Babolat Pure Strike and Pure lite before committing. Super fast stringing service. $195 with strings out the door. Can't beat the package. Another helpful tidbit is that Babolat rackets carry a one year warranty and this is the only brand where Racket Doctor will swap out for on-sight, instead of sending back to manufacturer.
