Went here on a recommendation from a co-worker, and it did not disappoint! I was kind of surprised to see that it wasn't that busy during lunchtime on a weekday, but I guess there isn't really that much going on in Bluefield. We were promptly greeted by the hostess and seated at a booth. The draft beer selection looked great, and it was definitely a bummer that we couldn't partake. The cocktail specials on the chalkboard sounded great too. The menu is big and has lots of good-looking stuff on it. My co-worker and I both got the RailYard burger, which was great, albeit a little greasy (but it's a burger, right?). I also thought the fries were really good. Service was fine. Fantastic! After an 8 hour drive we were ready for a good meal. RailYard had great reviews on Yelp & the owner of our B&B highly recommended. The establishment is large, with a bar, college environment, big screen tv's, family environment. Norm our waiter, was immediately at our table to greet us & take our drink order. I was rather underwhelmed by my experience here. I had browsed their web page, read the reviews, and even spoke with friends who had visited. Yet nothing prepared me for my dining adventure here. Food is pricey. Portions are small. Service was lackluster. The milkshake, just a plain chocolate one, though looked impressive was uninspiring and thin --served with paper straws to drink from. I had a great meal at the Railyard in May. The food was fresh and great tasting. Everyone in our party of 5 enjoyed our meal. I can't remember the waitress name but she was wonderful and met my expectations and anticipated our needs. If you go be prepared for the bar like atmosphere, especially because we were there pretty late on a Saturday night. They have a nice outdoor dining area but the night I was there the weather was a barrier to utilizing that area. read more

Stopped in Bluefield on our way back home from myrtle. Stopped to sleep at hotel. Which, was terrible, but found this place on here and tried it out. I got choo choo shrimp and loaded fries. This place has been open for a few years, but we only tried it this past winter with friends. It has quickly turned into one of our favorite restaurants. I love the Big Philly. We found this place by a happy accident after making a run to Rural King. Our first time there the event manager was our server and she was wonderful. She was super friendly and helpful. Everything she recommended was spot on. We've been back several times just because of the wonderful impression she and the general manager have left us with. The food is always good and fresh. I recommend getting the tater tots with the pulled pork on top. Oh and their homemade chips are delicious especially with the homemade French onion dip. It is totally worth the drive. Follow them on Facebook for specials and to see the food pictures. It is a family friendly place and my kids love the food. So happy mom + kids eating + good beers for dad = a great place to dine. Mackayla rocks!! She is sweet and so attentive. We drove from Kentucky to do the Back of the Dragon. Stopped here for dinner since our hotel was not too far away. This place would be ok as a bar. We went with a party of 7 one night and was told there would be a 45 minute wait. Cool. Fine. I understand. We get a notified that the table is ready a little over an hour later. Cool, 45 minutes was an estimate. Fine. I understand. The bad part is once we got in we were told that we could only order from the late night menu. It was 10 minutes before the time listed on the menu but we still sat and looked at it. The late night menu only has overpriced appetizers and drinks. If they would have said something about it an hour earlier I wouldn't have wasted my time.
