Walked in on a Saturday at 6:30PM without a reservation and was seated immediately. The floor through the restaurant was very slippery or greasy. We were seated in a little sunroom type area next to a big window. We ordered drinks-I got a Kentucky Mule and my husband got an old fashioned. Both were really good. We got the watermelon Tataki for an appetizer. I'm not sure I've ever had anything like it before! It was sweet and the goat cheese and drizzle gave it a nice balance with the cashew providing a nice crunch. I got the Chicken Caprese for my entree. The chicken was well seasoned and the risotto had a nice sweetness. The plate came with two asparagus and a few baby carrots. It was a well balanced plate. My husband's braised short ribs came in an amazing sauce. Service was top notch with our server and a manager stopping by a few times to check in and make sure we didn't need anything. This was the first dinner place we tried on our trip to Gatlinburg. We decided to sit on the patio because the weather was perfect. Patio was clean and comfortable. We tried the appetizer trio first. The pepper with goat cheese and fig jam was amazing as was the caprese bread. We each got a burger. My husband tried the Hawaiian burger which was perfectly cooked and delicious. I had the surf and turf burger which was also perfectly cooked and amazing. The fries come with a homemade ketchup that is first class. We got there before the dinner rush and service was a little slow. Our server was not very attentive and took quite a while to come back to the table each time, which we found odd since they had not begun the dinner rush. This place was a great find just off the strip in Gatlinburg. Huge menu with a lot of excellent options. The tapas sampler had lots of great flavors, the smoked Guacamole stole the show! This was a cute place to check out after a day of hiking around. It was right by our hotel and one of the few local places around that doesn't taste like some take on American. We ordered the sampler, the sirloin and the rack of lamb - sat out on the patio and enjoyed an awesome evening. The sampler was okay, it almost had me change my lamb order BUT I'm so glad I didn't because the rack of lamb was GREAT! the sangria was also refreshing and our server Jami (Yami?) was top notch. This place feels like it could be anywhere. The inside is extremely basic with almost no personality. Nothing about it says tapas or even Gatlinburg. It is just plain. The service is truly awful. Inattentive, slow, and chaotic. We had to repeat parts of our order multiple times and things still came out wrong. Drinks took over forty five minutes which is just unacceptable. The one bright spot is the food. The short rib arancini and the blue bacon dates are absolutely divine. I would come back for those two items alone. I also tried the watermelon tataki which was definitely unique. The flavor and texture combo threw me off, but it was fun to try something that bold. For my main, I got the grilled chicken campanella pasta and added steak. Both proteins were pretty dry and the rest of the dish was forgettable. Nothing stood out. I've eaten here several times, the food keeps bringing us back. They tweak the menu, they have specials, and they keep it interesting. This weekend we had a lovely meal outside, it was sunny but a bit cool, we had the heater on, we wanted to enjoy the outdoors, it was lovely. We skipped the appetizers, ordered a bottle of a Spanish red blend, a Viento, affordable, lighter than a Cab, very nice and affordable. We ordered coconut shrimp, Chilean sea bass (always tasty and moist) and the Peruvian chicken (new item) ! Everything came to the table quickly, the dishes were well presented, very fresh, and so tasty! A few surprises, the purple rice, with coconut, had just a hint, a subtle hint, of sweetness, was a wonderful accompaniment to the fish and the shrimp. And the rich paprika sauce that comes with the Peruvian chicken ( a whole tender and moist game hen) that sauce, luscious and packed with flavor, as were the potato's bravas served along side. Great experience while dining at Le Conte Tapas & Grill! We were on vacation celebrating a bride-to-be and came here for dinner. There is a lot of variety on the menu, so everyone was able to find something they liked. (It felt like a fusion restaurant almost, with some Spanish/Latin influences and then typical American grill food, but elevated.) The server (and manager) were all very attentive to our group! They generally provided decent appetizers, with hits and misses on the main dishes. For drinks, I tried their pineapple cocktail (tequila with lime and pineapple juice) which was quite refreshing. We ordered a Cobb salad and charcuterie cheese board for sharing. Both were awesome. My favorite was the flavouring of the salad as well as the ham in the charcuterie board. For mains, my favourite was the rack of lamb. Perfect flavouring of the sauce. However, I didn't like the salmon and the ribeye. The salmon was overcooked. The ribeye was not a good cut. After dinner, we bumped into an adult bear not far outside the restaurant. So stay alert when you eat here! read more

This place was recommended by a friend. We started with the watermelon tataki which is a little sweet but then the goat cheese and cashews bring it down since they are savory. I personally would have preferred sweeter watermelon and a saltier cheese paired with it but my husband said he liked it and it grew on him. I don't love sauces so perhaps that was why I didn't love it. We got the tapas sampler and the lamb was pretty good. Not as tender as I like, but tasty. The caprese toast was all right too. I didn't eat the shortrib ball thing, but my husband said it was good. The kids got a spaghetti kids meal and split it. They said it was fine. My 8yo didn't love the purple sticky rice since it was kind of hard and not super sticky. My husband and I split the seafood paella and the lobster was good. I don't like calamari so we had some leftover since it was mostly calamari for the seafood but if you like it, you would love it. The food and service here were great! Josh was our waiter and he was kind enough to talk about the different dishes and give his recommendations. The restaurant was clean and felt very warm and inviting. We had the sampler appetizer and each food was delicious. I highly recommend it. I ordered the beef short rib and my husband got the paella. The paella was really good. I'd definitely order that next time. The short rib had a lot of fat on it. Josh did warn me but I still ordered it and realized I should've listened to him. The meat itself was good and tender, but after several bites, the fat was too much for me. Of course we started off the meal wanting to order dessert but by the time that part of the meal came around, we were way too full. All in all, I definitely recommend Le Conte Tapas and Grill when you're visiting Gatlinburg. It was only one of two restaurants we actually liked. read more

I wanted to love this place. It is a breath of fresh air from the touristy places just a few short minutes away. We made reservations on a Saturday night for immediately after my brother's wedding. When we walked in, we noticed the place wasn't very big. There were some fire tables outside, two small dining room areas, and a small bar. There were several waitstaff members, but the place did not appear packed. We eventually were seated right smack in the middle of one of the dining rooms for our large party. We were greeted by our waitress who congratulated the couple. I say this because I want to make it clear that this was a wedding dinner AND the establishment knew. Once we were seated and had a few minutes to look over the menu, we ordered drinks and it took a while to receive them and when they came, it was one at a time. When we ordered food, we informed the waitress about my gluten allergy. Since there were no gluten-free designations on the menu, I asked what items I could eat. She assured me that basically anything on the menu could be gluten-free unless it specified that there was bread. Those that can't have gluten will understand that gluten can be in more than just bread - it is often used as a thickener as well. When I ordered, I confirmed with the waitress that everything would be fine to eat. When our food came out, everything had fried onions and my steak had a glaze that looked thickened. I asked her again to confirm, and she went back to the kitchen to ask. I want to emphasize here that she didn't appear confident, and that is why I kept asking. She was rolling her eyes because we kept asking, but this is something I take very seriously. I don't expect someone to memorize what is gluten-free, but I do expect someone at the establishment to know and appreciated when she asked and said it was safe to eat. While we were eating, drinks took forever to arrive and came in sporadically. We had to flag down the waitress several times to remind her. One member of our party tried to order another Moscow mule, but the waitress informed her that the bartender was swamped (which it certainly did not look like it) and she had to make each drink. She ended up skipping it because she felt bad. As the waitress walked away, members of our party walking from the bathroom saw her rolling her eyes. I have been a server before. I get it, it can be stressful. But again, the place was not packed, we were not demanding. We were just trying to enjoy a dinner after my brother's wedding. If I knew it was a wedding, I would have been attentive and kind, even if I was having a bad day. It got to the point where my group couldn't get out of there soon enough. We turned down the free dessert and asked for the check. I'm really glad my brother was a good sport about it all, because this dinner was truly ridiculous when they knew it was a wedding. I wish we weren't made to feel like a nuisance. The food was great (many of us enjoyed the filet mignon, ceviche, guacamole), so it was a bummer that the service wasn't. I think the people who rated this place 5 stars are fakes or don't know Spanish tapas, steaks, or how food should taste. We wanted something different from the tourist traps of Gatlinburg. We ordered the trio sampler of all three ceviches. It was disgusting. It's suppose to be citrusy not sweet. Definitely not fresh tuna, shrimp, or lobster. Lobster was very chewy. We also had the rack of lamb and Rosemary Sirloin. Both were bland, no taste, no taste of rosemary. Salad was decent. We barely ate the so called ceviche when the salads came, and once again barely done with our salads when our main course came. Waiter was not friendly, and did not ask about the food. Let me start this by saying- I'm a foodie. I'm real picky about what I eat and enjoy fresh food with lots of flavor. And... this is the best meal I've had in Gatlinburg. In a town with a lot of steakhouses and cutesy-themed restaurant I was so excited when my fiancé suggested Le Conte as an option. Before I get into the food let me explain logistics- this restaurant is not on Parlway and has open, free parking. You don't need a reservation, we walked right in, and they have a full bar. They had a nice selection of wines from California, Spain and Argentina, so I went with the Malbec, which was light enough to go with all the flavors I tried. We had the Trio appetizer with chips and pork rinds ($4 extra for rinds but totally worth it because they were still popping when they got to the table). The trio appetizer was amazing. Literally, the best pico de gallo I've had in my life: you could taste the fresh tomatoes and crisp jalapeños and onions. Also a hit, the fresh, tasty guacamole, and spinach artichoke dip, which my fiancé loved. My fiancé had the trio ceviche as his meal which came with tortilla and he loved it - ate everything. My meal was the short ribs. which fell right off the bone. I loved the pico de gallo so much(from the trio) I added some to my plate and took some home with my leftovers. The desserts looked amazing but we were stuffed when we left so we had to bow out before we could get ourselves into any more trouble. I chose this restaurant during a family vacation. I made a reservation through their website for a party of 7 for a Sunday evening. We arrived about 15 minutes early, and they were able to seat us within 5 minutes. The restaurant is neither overly large nor too small. We sat inside, but they also have seating outside. I did have to ask for my seat to be wiped down again, as there was some type of grease/oil on it. The server was prompt and got our drink orders; I ordered an espresso martini, charcuterie board, and the spinach dip. The martini was slightly watered down tasting and lacked the overall expresso taste, but I gave it to my husband to drink and ordered wine. The charcuterie board was excellent; they also added cream cheese to it, although it's not listed as part of the menu. The spinach dip was one of the best that I've had, and the chips seemed to be homemade; that was my husbands' favorite. I split the rack of lamb with my son, he loves lamb lollipops. We ordered them medium well; they all were cooked different; a variation of well, med well, med, and med rare. I wasn't too impressed with them, they were really fatty, very mild in flavor, and the inconsistency in how they were cooked didn't help. I didn't send it back because I didn't want to wait for them to recook them, I just gave my son the more cooked ones. My husband ordered the surf-n-turf burger, cooked medium well, it came out medium rare. He ate it anyway but didn't seem to really enjoy it. The other dishes served were the grilled salmon, surf-n-turf steak and bacon-wrapped shrimp, Chicken Carprese, and kids grilled chicken. Everyone else loves their meals. The side items were fine, the risotto was my favorite side dish. The also have little balls of carrots and asparagus (which you get 2 spears of). For dessert, we got the chocolate lava cake and crème brûlée; both were good.
