Moonshine tasting at Sugarlands Distilling Company has become one of our annual Gatlinburg traditions. At this point, a trip to Gatlinburg without stopping at Sugarlands would feel a little like visiting Disney World and skipping the castle. Sure, you could do it. But why would you? This year's tasting was hosted by our guide, bartender, entertainer, comedian, and unofficial life coach... Jeff. And before I go any further, Jeff specifically requested that his name be spelled correctly in this review. So one more time for the people in the back: Jeff. Jeff absolutely made the experience. He was fast, personable, engaging, and knew his products inside and out. For each moonshine sample, he didn't just tell us what we were drinking. He painted a picture. He described the flavors, explained what to expect, suggested mixers, recommended serving ideas, and somehow kept the entire room entertained while doing it. That's harder than it sounds. After all, you're standing in a room trying a dozen different moonshine flavors while competing for attention with alcohol. Yet Jeff managed to keep everyone engaged from start to finish. And let's talk about the value. Where else can you sample roughly a dozen different moonshines for five bucks? Seriously. Five dollars. In today's economy, that's approximately the cost of half a fast-food combo meal or one gallon of gas and a prayer. The pours are small, but after a dozen of them, you'll have a pretty good idea of what you like. And the flavors are genuinely fun. Some are sweet, some are fruity, some will sneak up on you like a ninja wearing overalls, and all of them make for an entertaining experience. But here's a pro tip many visitors miss: Don't leave after the tasting. Head to the bar in the back. The cocktails are surprisingly good and very reasonably priced. We're talking about seven-dollar mixed drinks and five-dollar shots in a tourist destination. In Gatlinburg. That's practically community service. Good moonshine. Good value. Good entertainment. And another successful addition to our annual Gatlinburg tradition. Five stars. And thank you, Jeff. (Spelled correctly.)

This is my favorite Moonshine place in Gatlinburg. They have the absolute best tastings. We come here every time we're in town. The tasting is 1/2 tasting, 1/2 comedy show. Lots of fun. Fast and Great...we love it. It's so fun to try out all the different flavors. You pay like $5 and get it back in store credit if you buy something. Worth it! Afterwards , I checked out the Roaming Man Rye whiskey tasting in the back, near the bar. Yeah the place is pretty big and they have a really nice bar in the back. After sampling the excellent Rye, I tried an Old Fashioned made with that same Rye - Cask Strength. I walked away with a bottle of it and an old fashioned mixer.

Great service! Fantastic ambience! Our bartender Rob Hamm "Hood Pope" made our tasting experience amazing. I'm from New York and this is my first time visiting Gatlinburg with my family and we've tried multiple moonshine tastings in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg and hands down this was by far my favorite! I'd recommend this place to anybody and everybody!

Best part of coming here for the moonshine tasting is the servers. I have been here twice and the servers are very friendly and entertaining. The eggo moonshine is a favorite. Also one of the bonuses is that for doing a tasting you get $5 off a purchase. Then after doing the tasting you can stick around and order some drinks from there bar. It's worth the stop if you're in Gatlinburg.

A girlfriend brought me here to experience a moonshine tasting. Alas, my favorite spirit was the blackberry whiskey. But I appreciated Gage's engaging banter, and we tried 13 flavors for only $5. -1 star for only having 2 stalls in the ladies restroom.

This place, omg. The nicest and funniest staff. I enjoyed the tasting so much that we came another day while visiting Gatlinburg. The first night and the second night we had different bartenders and I'm so mad I forgot their name, but they were truly entertaining. The best jokes while tasting. They have different line up every day, which was great. A lot of great tasting flavors and between our group, we bought enough Moonshine to last us for the rest of the year, lol. The service was so amazing and everyone just had a great time. Such a great place and experience. We will definitely return if we come back to Gatlinburg.

This was a GREAT tasting for $5. Travis is great!!!! 10/10 recommend coming in. Fun, easy and delicious

AMAZING experience. A tasting is $5 (or $10, I can't remember) but you get your moneys worth and the money goes towards any purchase after the tasting. So totally worth it. Mark and Digger were actually there too, so that was amazing. They were so nice and will take pictures and sign anything. We walked out with 7 bottles and everything is delicious! Can't wait to go back next trip!

Bad assumption! We almost had to sit at the bar (which would have been OK, but we kind of wanted more privacy) but the hostess found us a high-top table. We had to drive up a big hill to get to the restaurant, so I assume the view outside is super nice, but we sat indoors to get away from the heat :) In general, our server did an OK job, but I do think she could have checked on us a little more, and the service felt quite slow. Our meal started with some complimentary spoonbread (which was pretty tasty!) and a Dylan cocktail for me, which took forever to come out. The Dylan was not really my cup of tea, it turns out - I guess I'm just a beer drinker at heart :) My wife got the Caesar salad for an appetizer and then we split the Beef Wellington for a shared entree. I sampled my wife's Caesar and it was very tasty! The Beef Wellington also took a long time to come out, but the wait was worth it, as it was very good! The beef was cooked medium rare as expected and the pastry was tasty. For our side, we chose broccolini and it was seasoned well. Despite the service hiccups, we had a good experience here. I would definitely consider coming back, and I'd recommend the Greenbrier to others.

As for the food, it was honestly pretty underwhelming considering how hyped this place is. The crab dip was okay, nothing memorable. The steak and lobster was disappointing- the lobster had that soft texture that overcooked or not-so-fresh crawfish can have. The baked shrimp wasn't bad, but definitely not something I'd order again. Strawberry shortcake was decent enough. Ironically, the bread basket ended up being my favorite part of the meal-absolutely delicious. The service, however, was genuinely warm and hospitable. It was a bit slow, but the staff was kind, friendly, and personable enough that it made up for it. That was honestly the highlight of the experience. Was I excited to try this place because of all the hype? Absolutely. Would I personally recommend it? Probably not.

I was really craving Asian food, but there aren't many options in the Gatlinburg area, so we were excited to try it. Unfortunately, the food fell short. The kids' egg fried rice was actually the standout dish that everyone at the table enjoyed. We also ordered the drunken noodles, Pad Thai, crispy duck, and Panang curry. At around $30 per entrée, we expected much more flavor. Most dishes were either bland or overly oily, and nothing really stood out. The biggest surprise was the price. Our bill for six people here ended up being more expensive than some of the excellent restaurants we visited in Pigeon Forge with a group of ten. I just read another review that 18% gratuity is automatically added , on top of gratuity we may have given them. I didn't save the receipt.. Overall, it's a beautiful restaurant with good service, but the food didn't justify the price. I'd probably try another restaurant next time.
