What a great park with views to die for!…read more This was nowhere close to being on our radar, but thanks to Truckee Meadows Trails, we attended a group hike up here. This is part of Washoe County Parks. It is North of Reno and is easy to access off Sun Valley Boulevard. It is best known as a disc golf course and the day we were there there was a large group participating in a tournament. The trails meander around the hillsides with plenty of opportunities to overlook the spectacular views south towards Reno and east towards Sun Valley. Most of the trails are easy to moderate and are all dirt. Dogs are allowed on a leash. The trails are also open to bikes. This is not ADA accessible. There is parking at the trailhead and bathrooms are available. There is not a lot of shade on the trails and there are few signs other than for the disc golf. Definitely a spot worth exploring. The park is open from 8am-5pm daily.

There is not a playground. There is not a basketball court or tennis court. There is almost no shade at this park. You'll be happy to know there is also a bathroom on site. There are various hiking trails you can explore, but most of it is not shaded. The Perimeter Loop Trail was fun with scenic views of downtown and the currently snow-capped mountain range to the West. I also did the Hidden Valley Backcountry Loop. It has a 1,033 Elevation gain and approximately 3.7 miles to complete the loop. It's a bit slippery going up, but I took my time and had no issues. As you can imagine, the views and the landscape only got more beautiful.

So happy we didn't get any rain and was able to go for a hike! We hiked for a good hour. Loved the nature and view of the city from the top. There was a lot of gravel towards the top and a few of us did slip going down hill, even with hiking shoes. Even a trail runner said he fell and slipped a few times. There's a few trails so do some research to see which trail meets your needs. Lots of parking and the bathroom is next to the tennis and pickle ball courts. Lucky I had my pickle ball set in the trunk and even got in a few games. Location was only about 15 minutes from downtown Reno, very close! I'd come back next time to hike another trail!

If you stand in the middle of the green on many nights, you will witness a wonderful sunset right beyond the mountains. I've also seen many of the wild horses here just eating the grass and also some beautiful cloud scenery. They have public barbecues and open picnic tables for family picnics and get togethers. This is a great spot to play a bocce ball if you have your own bocce ball set. I highly recommend this park if you're in the area.

This is a park with walking and biking trails wih ample access to the truckee river. Typically quiet and has enough room to not have to crowd any particular arrea. This is also a quality place to see spring blooms and fall color changes in the area. There is a small parking lot that is pretty safe since there is really no other reason to be in this area unless you are using the park. As far as naming of this park, I believe it was named after Dr. Massoud Dorostkar, an anesthesiologist in Reno who donated the tract of land for use as a park. What I dont know is how to properly prononuce the Persian surname Dorostkar. is it DO-roast-car or duh-RAWST-kahr? Either way this is a great scenic hike and picture worthy site that is a short bike ride from downtown.

The best part is that all the beaches are on the south side of the river with thick vegetation behind you so no need for beach umbrellas. On a 100 degree day it's 75 on the beaches at Dorostkar, bring a couple tubes and you can float to the dam at Ambrose park and then walk back and do it again!!

The course is easy to follow and all come with a nice tee off slab and well written description of the holes. Can be difficult to find your discs because of all the sage. So keep an eye on where your disc lands. Just missed a birdie on Hole #3. Putter bounced off the bottom part and had to settle for a par. All in all, a very peaceful course to play.

The previous equipment was rusted, worn down and covered in grafiti. With the new park updates there is a small kids play area, a larger play structure and something new that I have not seen at many parks, a zip line! There is also more options for children with disabilities to play with added wheelchair accessibility and a swing for children who cannot use the rope. I love the inclusiveness, the sensory station for making sounds, and the shaded areas. Seeing a fully functional park to take place of the worn down one also has made the neighborhood more appealing. We are so excited to play here more, in the warmer seasons to come!

There are several different parks in Sparks which feature the same playground. There is not a toddler playground. There are swings but no toddler swings. Wood chips are located underneath the playground. There is a covered eating area with a few picnic tables underneath. There is a baseball field. There is a large grassy area. In the fall there is often football practices here on this field. There is a tennis court at this park. There is a skate park at this park. The skate park appears to be a separate park, so I won't be reviewing it. But I will add a photo of the skate park. Pyramid is a very busy street. Cars tend to drive fast in this area. The playground is far from the busy road but the grassy area is not. There are plenty of good food and coffee options which you can easily walk to from Burgess Park. Have fun out there. - Dadzone
