If you stand in the middle of the green on many nights, you will witness a wonderful sunset right beyond the mountains. I've also seen many of the wild horses here just eating the grass and also some beautiful cloud scenery. They have public barbecues and open picnic tables for family picnics and get togethers. This is a great spot to play a bocce ball if you have your own bocce ball set. I highly recommend this park if you're in the area.

Rose Highway, which was approximately a 5 mile round trip. The trail has a very gradual elevation gain and is mostly shaded by trees, so currently there are some icy parts on the trail. We used crampons and had no issues. I'm always looking for a new spot to hike and recommend it if you haven't already done it.

It didn't matter to me because I found a spot in the shade where I could listen to the creek. When I was leaving I saw that there is another whole area to explore which I plan to do soon. What a great park with views to die for!…read more This was nowhere close to being on our radar, but thanks to Truckee Meadows Trails, we attended a group hike up here. This is part of Washoe County Parks. It is North of Reno and is easy to access off Sun Valley Boulevard. It is best known as a disc golf course and the day we were there there was a large group participating in a tournament. The trails meander around the hillsides with plenty of opportunities to overlook the spectacular views south towards Reno and east towards Sun Valley. Most of the trails are easy to moderate and are all dirt. Dogs are allowed on a leash. The trails are also open to bikes. This is not ADA accessible. There is parking at the trailhead and bathrooms are available. There is not a lot of shade on the trails and there are few signs other than for the disc golf. Definitely a spot worth exploring. The park is open from 8am-5pm daily.

There is a bathroom. There are two covered eating areas. I noticed a few benches/picnic tables throughout the park you can sit on. The park is mostly clean, minus some dog owners who didn't clean up after their dogs. I would recommend only coming here to hike or play disc golf. The park doesn't offer much else. There is not a playground. There is not a basketball court or tennis court. There is almost no shade at this park. Freshly mowed grass, nice little pond for fishing. Picnic area, benches, gazebo and a wonderful view of the surrounding mountainous area. Lots of geese habitating in this 20 acre pastureland area. Much more acreage surrounding. Horseshoe pits, tennis, volleyball. So fortunate to live in this beautiful place in Nevada. So much to do. Get outside!

Wood chips are located underneath the playground. There is a covered eating area with a few picnic tables underneath. There is a baseball field. There is a large grassy area. In the fall there is often football practices here on this field. There is a tennis court at this park. There is a skate park at this park. The skate park appears to be a separate park, so I won't be reviewing it. But I will add a photo of the skate park. Pyramid is a very busy street. Cars tend to drive fast in this area. The playground is far from the busy road but the grassy area is not. There are plenty of good food and coffee options which you can easily walk to from Burgess Park. Have fun out there. - Dadzone

This is an interesting park. This is not wide open grassy area with a pond to feed geese, jungle…read moregyms, and swings. This is a park with walking and biking trails wih ample access to the truckee river. Typically quiet and has enough room to not have to crowd any particular arrea. This is also a quality place to see spring blooms and fall color changes in the area. There is a small parking lot that is pretty safe since there is really no other reason to be in this area unless you are using the park. As far as naming of this park, I believe it was named after Dr. Massoud Dorostkar, an anesthesiologist in Reno who donated the tract of land for use as a park. What I dont know is how to properly prononuce the Persian surname Dorostkar. is it DO-roast-car or duh-RAWST-kahr? Either way this is a great scenic hike and picture worthy site that is a short bike ride from downtown.
