Service not so good but the food was absolutely fantastic. This was a special birthday party for a dear friend who recently turned 70.

I came here for a quick lunch while in Cadillac for lunch. I was greeted by a super friendly waiter who sat me next to an outlet because he noticed I had a work computer with me. So thoughtful and above and beyond service. Not only to mention the friendly greeting, but they have a lunch menu that looks delicious. They have a delicious lunch menu! I end up ordering the stacked grilled cheese. The soup it comes with was absolutely delicious. It is a chunkier tomato soup, but I do enjoy the added texture. The sandwich was grilled perfectly and the pesto sauce gave it that extra kick of flavor. I would 100% recommend this place again! read more

Made it here the day after a big snow. It was a quiet day for the restaurant. Had an app- the beans and cheese dip- very lactaid worthy. Had mushroom soup for meal and it was rich and good however could not finish the bowl. Partner had the gumbo and he loved the spice in the sausage. Mushroom ravioli is 5 stars. I read so many positive reviews about their ravioli and they are not wrong. It is very basic. Just cream sauce with mushrooms ravioli yet so good. If the hush puppies are bigger size , they would be better. I prefer larger hush puppies because you get a bigger contrast between the crunchy shell and soft cornbread. I would rate it 3/5 I think I walk in late and therfore felt like I got ignore. Maybe I get better service next time during normal dining hours. The restaurant is huge. You can probably host event in there. Looks like a refurbished barn. Very unique design indeed. read more

This is hands down the best restaurant currently in Cadillac. The restaurant has a cozy and modern vibe that feels warm and welcoming. The staff is extremely wonderful and attentive. Unfortunately, I hate leaving a bad review. I will say our waitress was excellent and very attentive. Food was good. The problem I have is when restaurants are charging a credit card fee and a) not letting people know ahead of time and b) when your tab is over $100 the fee should not be charged. I think this is why there were not many people in the restaurant when we dined here a couple of evenings ago. read more

One of my favorites in CAD, escargot, muscles and a good local beer while shooting a (free) round of pool, can't beat it. Lots of other good stuff on the menu, mushroom soup is very good, good schnitzel and jambalaya too. Pretty setting read more

I can't say enough good things about our waitress. She single handedly was taking care of all the tables in the restaurant. At least 6-8 tables were occupied, no one else bringing out food or bussing. She remembered our extra requests in a timely fashion. My sister and I got the white fish, each prepared a different way ( mine blackened, my sister's with morel sauce). Both were prepared with creamy risotto and yellow squash and zucchini. Delish! Mom had the coconut shrimp and loved it. Dad had jagerschnitzel (misspelled on menu) and spaetzle which he really enjoyed. I'm pleasantly surprised that a small town has a great quality establishment. They also serve Owl Eyes coffee from down the street. Food came out hot and seasoned well. Dined 5:30p on a Friday. Greeted at door and sat down right away. The server was knowledgeable. I tried a fall cocktail with hard oat milk - not my style. Husband didn't love his Manhattan either. The salads were amazing. Loved the house dressing and very fresh. Husband loved his French onion soup. Said it was perfect. Coconut shrimp was cooked perfect just disappointed with the large amount of batter on smaller shrimp. Great sticky rice with a sweet hot sauce I enjoyed (husband thought too sweet for him). Schnitzel is covered in sauce, not breaded. No level of crisp to the pork so while he liked the overall flavor he said it was a little mushy. There was live music just starting. Friendly server, decent portions with good prices. Overall I agree with the high star rating and we'll be back! read more

This place has changed for the better after they switched to this format a year or so ago and supposedly got some new cooks in the kitchen. Previously they catered towards a bbq menu and now it's more diverse and their food has improved. I've eaten here times over the years but recently ate here the other night to celebrate a friends birthday. I had a smoked chicken salad (could've used it creamier/more mayo), but it was decent. My friend really liked his parma rosa and my other friend really liked her whitefish. Service was good but the food took a long time to come out, maybe it's due to lack of help?! I'd give this place a 3.5 but am rounding up to a 4. There are only a handful of decent restaurants in Cadillac and this is one of them! read more

I travel around the state for work a lot and I'm always looking for new restaurants to try in new cities. Raven had some good reviews, decided to give it a shot. I'd say pass on this place from my experience. Had the blackened white fish and it was swimming (no pun intended) in a broken greasy butter. Fish itself seemed fresh but risotto that came with it was mashed potato texture and lacking flavor. The veggies also lacked seasoning and were pretty basic. For almost $40 for the entree it's not worth it. The service is very slow and it seems that if you're not a regular your last on the serve list when sitting at the bar. read more

The whitefish with morels was the best we have ever had. The champagne chicken is an old favourite from Blue Cow. We were thrilled to hear that the shrimp and grits are back for brunch. Surprisingly good and fairly sophisticated food in wherever this is in the middle of Michigan on the way from somewhere headed to somewhere else. Morel crimini mushroom soup was tasty with just the right hint of sherry and a texture that drew out the mushrooms. The Caesar salad (and croutons) were made from scratch with anchovies in the dressing as they should be, but rarely are anywhere. The mussels were tender and silky. read more

Menu is not big but has a nice mix of small and dinner plates with a few ethnic choices which was a nice surprise. Plenty to choose from without overwhelming. Our meals were simple, but sophisticated local options prepared well. Service was attentive but not overly so. Server was familiar with the options and suggested some great choices. The dining room was bright and migrated toward a cozy well-stocked bar and an open kitchen. Highly recommend this casual upscale spot and thankful the chef from Hermann's has a new home here. read more

My husband had the Filet Mignon meal with Mushrooms. He said it was delicious. I had the Parma Rosa. It was superb, I had so much food I had to take over half of it home. And the prices were no more here than any other nice place to eat here in Cadillac. Our server was Rose. She was prompt with our service. Very friendly, and pleasant. Part of our order was a martini, mussels, and a burger, all of which are surprisingly easy to screw up in a restaurant. They were all showed a great attention to detail. The mussels were fantastic. We ordered the burger rare and it ACTUALLY CAME OUT RARE. That's one of the first times I've had that happen in a restaurant (I'm looking at you, Sidetrack in Ypsilanti). I don't know why this place doesn't have a higher rating. They were short staffed, however our drinks, food, and level of service were not at all compromised. This really should have two separate reviews, one for service and one for food. The service was terrible! 2 is pretty generous. We normally go to Clam Lake, but thought we would try Raven since it's new to the area. The host sat us but then our server never came. After 10 minutes of waiting we asked the hostess to send someone over. We saw her ask a few waitresses who blew her off. Finally we saw our actually waitress, although she still did not come to the table. She stared at us for a few minutes while helping another table. The hostess went over to her again asking her to come to our table (it was over 15 minutes by now), the waitress preceded to say "I'm busy I won't be able to get to that table for a while". The hostess (who was young and sweet), came over to tell us our waitress was backed up but she would be happy to take our drink order. We asked to be switched to another section but apparently everyone was backed up. We decided to seat ourselves at the bar since that didn't seem as busy (best move we made!). I asked to talk to the manager. A gentleman came over and I explained what had happened. You could tell he felt like I was an inconvenience by his attitude and behavior. He blew me off and made excuses for why the waitress wouldn't have been able to help us for probably a half hour. It was pathetic! As a manager or owner, whatever he is, he should have apologized and acknowledged what I was saying. This restaurant will not last with a manager/owner like him! The bar tender was AMAZING! Her name was Chelsea! She was so warm, friendly, apologetic for what had happened before, and all around a good presence. She even ended up helping other waitresses with their tables since they were slow. There was another waitress who helped out behind the bar when Chelsea was gone, I believe her name was Lindsey, also wonderful! These two made our service at Raven much better! Also, I have talked to good friends who frequent there (and have been in the restaurant business themselves for over 50 years) and they express the same management concerned. Meanwhile, the manager passed us at least 7 times and never once asked how things were or if they were better- shame on him! The food was yummy! If the service and management was better I would probably return. Right now it's a 50/50 if I will. Unfortunately as I mentioned before, this manager is running the restaurant down the drain and takes no responsibility. read more

***I was visiting the area so please keep that in mind. I found the Raven to be delightful. A beautiful, smart restaurant and bar for an otherwise small City/Town. While Cadillac is beautiful, it had a rustic and nostalgic feel to it. Raven offers a nice contrast. The place gives you plenty of space and the area is extremely comfortable. I found the staff to be wonderfully helpful and refreshingly friendly. Even a small issue I had with a menu item was handled professionally and quickly. They made a potential issue into a non- issue. Problem solved and back to good times. The bartender (male) on duty during the week (31 July - 3 Aug) was exceptional. A class act. It pains me to confess his name escapes me. I visited twice during my short stay and enjoyed all the menu options and beer selections. Bravo to everyone at Raven! Well done. Well done, indeed. read more

Food was good...but service was lacking. Waitress was slow and unresponsive to requests. We also ordered dessert, and when the waitress brought the plate, she said be careful...she dropped the spoon in the chocolate sauce? Why not bring a new clean spoon? She may have been new and I understand there is a learning curve but was incredibly disappointed in being presented a bill that had a surcharge for non-cash transactions. This was not clear before ordering. To add to the surcharge, at the time of this review, a charge exists on my account for the dinner and tip, and another charge is showing as pending for just the dinner. This business did not rise to the expectations of what it presented itself to be. read more

We had tried to dine here over the summer but were never seated before our patience ran out and we left. Thought we would give them a try now that reviews show they are under new management. It was open mike night, which added to the hip casual atmosphere. We were greeted and seated by a waitress after a short wait at the door. Waitress was friendly even though it looked like they were super busy for a Thursday. Drinks were fast to be refilled. Wife had buffalo cauliflower, brisket, and pork taco plate. They were very good. The Mac n' cheese with brisket on it was also yummy. The order of poutine with a fried egg, was missing the cheese curds and the fried egg. The fries with gravy and brisket was pretty tasty. Would love to see this dish in its entirety. My order of brisket platter ran $16.95. Received two strips of meat that could be mistaken for extremely thick cut bacon, a small cup of coleslaw, and a side salad. It was a pretty disappointing presentation for a barbecue platter. Overall it was a mixed experience with good food, fun tunes and decent service. We will give them another try and hope they get their service, portions and dishes in order. read more

We saw signs for Raven right after just eating across the street, so I can't say much about the food, but the beer was good. They only had two options to choose from, and I opted for the coffee stout. The coffee flavor was great and the beer overall was very good. We sat at the bar and our service was excellent. We were told they had recently opened and were given some hush puppies to try out their different BBQ sauces. The interior of the place is so cool. I love the different light fixtures and uses of wood and metals. The bathrooms were really nice as well. I will definitely make a point to try the BBQ next time I'm traveling near Cadillac. read more

My husband and I stopped in after an afternoon of house hunting in the area. The place was nearly empty. After the (not friendly) hostess seated us we waited and waited and waited. After 10 minutes of waiting without any acknowledgement from staff another group walked in (4 adults). They were seated at the table next to us. Annoyed, very hungry and needing a drink I tried to leave but my husband (who is black) said "no wait". I didn't exactly know what he was waiting for. A few minutes later a smiling waitress brought the table next to us water and took their drink order. My husband said "now we can leave". Terribly sad. I rarely see blatant racism 1st hand. I would never ever ever recommend this place. Happy to say, we walked across the street and had a wonderful meal and drinks at Clam Lake Beer Company. read more
