We were in town for the weekend and stopped in for a nightcap. There was a musician in the courtyard so we sat outside and enjoyed his music. I ordered an old fashioned and my wife a bees knees. Someone out by the fire pit was saying how amazing the NY Sour was, so I ordered one. He was right. It was excellent. My wife ordered another bees knees. The bar tender was super nice and we chatted about different restaurants and wineries to try out. An off duty bar tender told us to come back for brunch in the morning, so we did. There is a French food truck there that served up a very nice breakfast! I got a Belgian waffle with Nutella and bananas, my wife the eggs Benedict and we shared an order of beignets. Full disclosure I have not been to this business yet but have used their products in my home bar for many years. This review is centered solely on their cocktail cherries which I consider the best you can buy regardless of price point to include the industry standard Luxardo cherries. Their cherries are much more than a garnish that you add to your cocktail but impart a subtle cherry note that is very noticeable when you make a cocktail, in particular an Old Fashion, that adds a nice degree of complexity and takes the flavor profile to the next level. Also as a tip, I suggest putting a little bit of the syrup in your cocktail as well to get a more noticeable cherry note and a tinge of added sweetness to the drink. Nice, nice, nice!!! If you have not tried these cocktail Cherries yet you owe it to your self to buy a bottle especially if you are a bit discerning when it comes to well made cocktails as I am. Made multiple stops here throughout the summer. It's off the main strip of restaraurants and shops which we loved! It was nice to get away from all the busy places. The setting is very laid-back and very warm and inviting. Staff are really friendly and helpful, and they made great suggestions. It was a really nice relaxing and fun experience. It was a very cold and snowy weekend when we went, but they still had the fire pits lit outside, which was great. We opted to stay inside, but it was really nice that they were keeping it clear of snow and ice while keeping the fire going outside to leave plenty of options for people for seating. What an absolute surprise this place turned out to be! It's a stop we will have to make every time we're here. While we were here it was very empty so we chatted with the bar tender and she made some great recommendations. I got a cherry sour that was delicious. They have all fresh squeezed juices and don't use any sour mixes. My wife got a cherry whiskey slushee and she's not a whiskey person by any means, but she loved this! Definitely worth your time! They take their craft seriously and this attention to detail is reflected in every aspect of their business. From the moment you walk in the door, you feel like you're in the presence of some true whiskey experts. The tasting room is on the smaller size, but it only adds to the dark ambient charm. Traverse City Whiskey Co. was founded by three friends. Chris, Jared, and Moti, were inspired by Chris's great-grandfather's old patents for distilling whiskey on the family's cherry farm. They set out to create a small-batch brand that would pay homage to their roots and become a staple of Traverse City's spirit scene over the next few decades. They have clearly succeeded! Their whiskey is some of the best we've tasted and admittedly, we've tasted a lot. We always make sure to stock up on a bottle (or two) to take home with us and always keep some on reserve for hosting company! But it's not just the whiskey selection that's amazing - their cocktail menu is fantastic as well. My personal favorite is the Cherry Sour, which is made with their own cherry-infused whiskey. It's sweet, tart and perfectly balanced. Traverse City Whiskey Co. also has some of the coolest merch and unique we've ever seen. From t-shirts, to hats, to flasks, they've got everything you need to show off your love for this classic distillery. I ordered their flight of bourbon, while my wife had a whiskey sour. My very much enjoyed her beverage while I was quite impressed with their bourbons. My personal favorites was the rye. The straight bourbon and barrel proof were very good as well. The cherry and apple were a little lower ranked for me as I'm a little more of a traditionalist and don't go for the flavored bourbons. After this, we split a peach pit, a bourbon cocktail that was outstanding and despite several efforts I haven't been able to reproduce at home. In the middle of a residential area, on a shady street corner, is TC Whiskey Co. We were on bicycles and happy to see that they had bike racks to lock up. The parking lot is small but so is the building. You walk in the doors, to a space that is for a large group. Continue through the hallway to the bar in the back of the house. You will see large whiskey stills behind glass, along with shelves of touristy stuff for purchase. Whiskey, drinking items, and TC swag are available. The menu is on the wall, so grab a seat while you decide, but don't dismiss their outdoor patio. You get to it from the door behind the bar. A little odd at first but they are friendly and reassuring that using that door is the proper thing to do. When bright and sunny, the inside is dark, then go out to the patio, it's partially shaded on stones, which was perfect. I ordered a whiskey flight and snacks for the group. We all tried different things and the snacks were amazing! White fish dip, and others with crackers were just perfect with the whiskey. I usually really enjoy straight Bourbons but I wasn't fancy on any of them in the flight, so we didn't take a bottle home, but we did pick up a jar of the Manhattan cherries. Great little spot to try some interesting whiskeys. Not too far from downtown, to find while we were biking around. Loved it. read more

We stopped by this place last August with my kids and we loved it. They had a full bar area and outside seating. Outside they had a live band which was great. We ordered a few drinks and tastings. All were delightful. We had wonderful service and we ended picking up a few bottles of whiskey and hand sanitizers to go home with. It was definitely a great place to spend some time in.
