"Where is the coyote"? Asked my precocious and wide eyed daughter. After looking around for a while it dawned on me that coyotes are nocturnal, not around at 6pm. Once that mystery was solved we went in and ate. Food is good, decent beer selection, and great people watching. This was during summer and when the off-road vehicle crowd rolls in, the show begins! They put the North in Up-North. I really don't have any recommendations other then that. It's the only place to eat for like 1000 miles around, so go check it out. read more

The bun was fantastic and the chips were great. Surprisingly, the server didn't ask about cooking the burger to order but it came out fine. The service was prompt and friendly. Coming from the Jersey Shore for a wedding, my resort recommended this place as the restaurant' in my resort was closed. I was hankering for a good burger and this place delivered. The cooked the burger to medium rare and fries were very good. Our waitress was very nice and a reasonable wait for a cooked to order meal. My Coyote Mule drink was also excellent. We eat here at least once a week and have never had a bad meal and prices are fair. I definitely will recommend this restaurant. Get there early for their specials during the week. The venue and resort is absolutely amazing! We found out about Coyote Crossing because a couple musicians were coming to play here so we came to watch. First, they had no reservations in their cabins, which we were ok with, good for them! We drove our motorhome up and when we arrived, they offered us to stay the night right their in their open yard/drive. Talk about service! The music venue was outside, very small but just perfect. They have a food truck outside with what looked like really good food. I'd recommend you trying it because I know I want to. Inside the resort is a bar and restaurant that is really nice. The staff was so friendly. All of the food being served looked and smelled really good. We did have a couple pours of good bourbon so that was another added bonus. If you like craft beer they have a few on tap as well in bottles. If there is ever someone playing that you've ever heard of, or not, you should go check this place out. I feel like it's a hidden gem in the middle of no where Cadillac. We really enjoyed our time here and will be going back many more times in the future. The Coyote Crossing is a very special resort. The cabins are awesome and very well maintained and equiped. The setting is beautiful at Coyote. My wife have stayed there any times. When we moved to the Caberfae Area, we actually stayed there in the cabins for about 6 weeks As we relocate. Pete and Julie the owners of Coyote Crossing are great people and make you feel at home and will help you in any way. The restaurant and bar or also awesome at Coyote. Every item on the menu is great. The fish on Fridays and Smoked Brisket on Saturdays are special. The trail systems are all easy access from Coyote. Both snowmobile and Side by Side. Also, there are many kayakping opportunities near by. The Pine River is within about 4 miles. Go to Coyote Crossing you will not be disappointed! read more

Food only review! THANK GOD I checked Yelp before we got too far off the interstate into the Nat'l Forest. Cell service died outside of Mesick! So thankful I had. We chose to get off the beaten path on the return to Indiana to take in the sites more so than just the interstate. Is this destination dining? Not quite. But we discovered a stellar setting, a cool lodging spot & a great little pub truly in the middle of nowhere. Nope, I sure wouldn't have found this place on our own w/o Yelp Nation. Tried this place for the first time and was not all that impressed. We sat at the bar and waited nearly an hour for the food to come out. We tried to follow up about the fries we ordered and the man we asked berated the guy who took our order. So awkward. We have stayed at coyote crossing twice now. Extremely cute, very clean cabins with the comforts of home. We stay in one of the dog-friendly cabins (there are only two so reserve well in advance) and our pup loves the free-ranging grounds. Each cabin sleeps up to 6; outdoors there's a picnic table and fire pit for each. Many, many outdoor activities close by including trails for snowmobiling and ATVs, skiing, and in the summer the lakes and downtown Cadillac. The lodge has good food and great live music. My only complaint is that the beds are not very comfortable. Particularly the twin beds--it would be nice if they were the long versions like in college dorms. They aren't really appropriate for adults--maybe short adults! The bed in the pull-out couch is also pretty uncomfortable, though that's somewhat par for the course for pull-out couches. It would be nice if the beds could get an upgrade. All in all, however, it's the perfect little getaway for families, couples, or outdoor enthusiasts taking advantage of all the area has to offer. read more

We recently stopped here for lunch while traveling in the area. First of all, the resort cabins are very neat, well maintained and appealing from the outside; we' d definitely stay here, and in fact referred friends to it when we got home. There' s a small plaground for children, huntng and fishing opportunities on the property and easy access to nesrby Caberfae Ski Resort, snowmobile trails and other recreation. But -- on this day we were here to eat. The resort bar is classic up- north rustoc in a good way. Our homemade soups were fine, but the " super" variation of the house burger, with grilled veggies and your choice of cheese, waa really outstanding. We also enjoyed the crunchy homemade potato chips that come with the burgers. The bar stocks premium liquors, and there' s a small but satisfying list of Michigan brews available. Service was very friendly. We enjoyed ourselves immensely, and felt that it was well worth our while to venture to this rather out- of-the-way resort. read more

First time there food was good pizza was delicious. Drinks were made well. Waitress was amazing. We liked it so much we decided to come back on a Friday with some other people from out of town. There was a band we sat outside. Our waitress this time was terrible and the food was medocre, it took over an hour to get it.. they were busier but nothing crazy , but it seemed staff wasn't equipped to handle a not slow night. Wait staff rude. Do not take your service dog there. The waitresses avoided our table for 15 min because of my small service dog. Two separate waitresses walked up and asked of he was a service dog and said I was yes. The second said he's ok but please put him under the table. I had him in my lap and my friends and I were talking and realized I held him too long and promptly put him down as requested I said ok I understand and I quickly complied with the request to put my pup under the table. Still no service but lots of not nice looks at me from the waitresses. Then a third very rude woman waitress came to the table obviously to give me a verbal reprimanding. She would not stop with her lecture to the point where I left. She was rude to me and she knew she was rude because she apologized to my friends after I left for ruining the dining experience but I had left. I was embarrassed to be there with people staring while she continually badgered me over and over. My friends waited another half hour for their food and the burger was very tough and overdone. If you have a service dog do not go to this service dog unfriendly place. If you do, be sure to stop at the door and request for admittance with your service dog so they will not badger and avoid serving your table. I will not go there again because she was completely and utterly rude I was quiet and smiled and answered questions over and over but she was out to teach me a lesson on service dogs and would not leave me alone and they all avoided servicing our table for even water until after I left. I wanted to lose my temper at her because she was in my face but I just left. A long wait not even water brought to the table and my friends waited another 30 min for their food. Beware of this place if you have a service dog. They do not like service dogs and treated me badly because of it. read more

Cabins are neat, well maintained and in a fantastic location no matter the season or weather. The rustic decor interior makes you feel apart of your surroundings. Definitely recommend staying here vs staying at a chain hotel in town. Restaurant is clean, great service, decorated like a cabin and a nice variety on the menus. I often pass through on busy Saturdays during snowmobiling season for lunch. Staff is always great and they usually have great menu specials. Had the White Chicken Chili and Club Sandwich, both were great. The club was HUGE and that's coming from a guy who can put away some food. Had my first trip there last night with my girlfriend and her family. We will never go back! The owner was unbelievable rude to my mother in law. We spent $350 on dinner and drinks and then were harrassed over a $10 cover charge IMMEDIATELY after our change was delivered. Still had drinks. Arrived at 6pm when the cover charge is for those arriving after 8. Just paid and they ask for more money. My mother in law wanted to speak to the manager and he told her "you're a fucking liar" after she mentioned we'd been there since 6pm and have since spent $350 and are now being harrassed for another $40. A manager came over to "appologize" for the hostess asking for the money while my mother in law was inside being ridiculed by the owner. Before she left he told her he DOES NOT NEED HER BUSINESS. if you're doing so well you dont need people to spend $350 in one trip, good for you- we will be sure to NEVER do so again! read more

This place advertised a Big Halloween Party. What a joke. We dressed up and went in only to find nothing happening. There were people dressed up just sitting at tables. There were no drink specials like they advertised. The music was lame. The costume contest amounted to the bar tender announcing who won a half hour after the contest. We don't even know who picked winners or were we able to even see all the costumes. There was a bowl of chips and some candy in the other room where you could dance. I was ready to dance but did not find any song danceable. We left after an hour and a half and I don't know how we even lasted that long. Lame. We are staying here for my nearby wedding. My family has rented 5 of the ten cabins so we could all be together this weekend. The staff here are so warm and welcoming and were great on making sure we had everything we needed. The cabins are top notch and beautiful!!! Floor to ceiling wood and northern Michigan decor and charm. Loved the added touches of cabin log book for visitors to sign and books about Michigan. They also have 2 cabins used to accommodate dogs which is great for our family to bring along the whole family.
