I really enjoyed my visit to the Clam Lake Beer Company. The food was surprisingly good! My husband and I split the Black and Blue Burger, the Chicken and Dill pizza, and an order of onion rings. The burger was my favorite. It had a great blue cheese on it that wasn't too overpowering to the other tastes. I would order this again. I was surprised by how much I liked the pizza. This was the best overall meal and experience we've had at a restaurant in a long time. The Clam Lake Vanilla Shipwreck beer was great, their buffalo chicken dip appetizer was such an amazing, elevated version of that classic app, and their special dessert for the evening (tres leches cake) was to die for. That's not even to mention the incredible pizza we had! We got a build your own pizza with candied bacon, pepperoni, jalapeños, and pineapple. This exceeded all expectations. They make their candied bacon in-house, and I don't think any pizza will ever come close to what this simple ingredient added to the flavor of it. This place was outstanding from start to finish! Service was incredible. My wife and I had the goat cheese pizza. It was awesome! My daughter had a teriyaki type bowl that she hasn't stopped talking about. They were slightly delayed bring out my daughters bowl. The server apologized and even brought us dessert for our trouble. This is our go to spot as a stopping spot heading up north! It's pretty unassuming but a great little spot in Cadillac and I love the ability to sit at the bar and grab a quick bite. They have great serving sizes and always are super friendly when we stop in. I think my favorite thing is the club melt though! Absolutely delicious and if you're not super hungry, it's perfect for sharing. There's a great little parking lot nearby for free parking which makes it really convenient. I joined some friends at this brew pub. I was impressed by the length of the list of brews. Being gluten free, I can't comment on the beer. I had a hard cider, which was good. I really liked the GF pizza crust. I ordered a chicken quesadilla, but served on the pizza crust. The crust was good and chewy--chewy bread is rare for GF diners. First time here. 30 minute wait but that was understandable. Got seated and was greeted fairly quickly. Asked for their house specialty which was clam chowder. Most of the time you can't mess it up. I asked for it to be served before my main course. Waited, and waited. Asked the server 3 times if it was coming and was told it would be out soon. I look over it see it under the heat lamp. It sat there for a good 5-10 minutes. She finally goes and gets it. It's cold and has a film on top where it had sat. They had put thyme or some type of herb that rendered it inedible. Didn't eat it. Server comes over and I tell her about it and she didn't say anything and took it away. We had ordered an appetizer before lunch. Well she proceeds to bring both the appetizer and the pizza we ordered together. So much for an appetizer. She says she can take the pizza back and hold it until we finish the appetizer. Huh? So it can sit under the heat lamp like the soup? No. We ate both together as best as we could. Bill comes and it has the clam chowder on it. Oh well. The absolute best clam chowder I've ever eaten was served here at Clam Lake Beer. If you get only one thing at this Cadillac restaurant, get the clam chowder. It's creamy and briny, the clams are copious and the potatoes are perfectly bite-sized and tender. The chowder is served with a small crostini, and you'll be glad because you can use that little piece of toasted bread to sop up every last bit in your bowl. If you get two things here, you should definitely get a beer. They have a huge selection of house beers and beers on tap. It takes up one whole side of an 8.5x11 paper menu. On the other side of the menu is their bottle beer list, wine list and cocktail menu. So, we've established that you are going to want to order based on the name of this restaurant (Clam Lake Beer ... get the clam chowder and beer). However, I also liked my Caesar salad, and they have a good kids' menu, too. One of my kids got mac & cheese (it looked like the kind from the blue box, which my kid appreciated), and the other child got a burger and house-made chips. This place is very popular and gets busy! There are lots of tables, though, with many different seating options, including high-top tables, regular tables and bar seating. We had a very big ask of Clam Lake when our very large family came into town for a funeral. They truly went above and beyond to accommodate us in every way possible. Lisa, the manager, made sure we were all able to sit together (as together as 17 people can) and our service was top notch. Randall, our server handled all of us on his own with ease, grace and was so personable. Now...the food...it was served HOT and quick which can be quite difficult with such a large party. As I was looking over the drink menu the bar tender made this delicious looking coffee cocktail as soon as I seen her put homemade whip cream on top, I knew that was the drink I was ordering, and it did not disappoint! Highly recommend ordering this drink, but don't let the glass fool you, it's actually served hot, but it was a cold snowy day so I didn't mind. I also ended up getting a bowl of clam chowder it was a perfect combo, I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of clams in the chowder. We were driving from Indy to Petoskey and I turned to Yelp to find a cute lunch spot on the way. Clam Lake Beer had amazing reviews and a great menu, so we pulled off the highway and found free parking at a lot down the road. We walked over and enjoyed the cute little Cadillac downtown. The avocado salad was pretty good and had a house pesto ranch dressing. Creative and delicious. My husband had a delicious sandwich and so did my mother-in-law. For lunch I ordered the pretzel bites and the Americana pizza. The pretzel bites were perfection, and the beer cheese was delicious. Probably one of my favorite appetizers and they nailed it. The pizza was also amazing. Packed full of flavor but not overly greasy. I didn't have anything but water, but, from what I observed, the Bloody Mary seemed to be very popular. Overall, this place is a must go. It kind of reminds of harmony brewing in Grand Rapids. Amazing pizza, with a homey feeling as you enter. I wouldn't mind going back for their beer if I ever go north again. I recommend a redecoration though. We ordered the one that had the meat on it and I just did not want it to end! It's a woodfired pizza and it has this delicious campfire taste to it with lovely sauce and a basil explosion! It has kind of a cracker taste of the crust which was also very nice. I really can't say enough about it The interior is very much an upscale trendy kind of tavern in an old store front.
