During every visit, there's been a HUGE pile of hair just swept to the corner and the stations weren't swept between every customer. There are places where hair is LITERALLY caked on the wood upholstery. I've never see such a dirty floor at visits to other shops throughout the country! If the barbers aren't going to keep the shop clean, please hire someone to perform the task.

Sooo many hacks out there shake their heads yes when you tell them to just "clean it up" , then they proceed to practically shave your head! Well not at the Pennington Barber! Spend the extra $5 and get a real haircut guys. I'm talking comb and long scissors, hot shaving cream and straight razor for the neck. The kind of place you see in the movies where guys can talk shop and leave looking sharp as a tack. I'm growing my hair out for a snazzy pompadour and Frank got giddy at the chance to perform this rare, but beloved, of cuts. I would have had the new hotness a lot sooner if I hadn't gone to that other place many weeks ago where "Darlene" said she knew what she was doing then cut my hair like an Iowa corn farmer. Avoid the baseball cap and get a real cut. Go see Frank and tell him I sent ya.

She was cold and unfriendly, and when we explained the style we were looking for, we got very little verbal response -- just a dismissive facial expression. That kind of nonverbal communication says a lot. The low point came when she asked whether a beard trim had been scheduled. I confirmed we had booked a hot shave. Her response? "He doesn't have a beard." My husband had about five days of facial hair growth -- which is exactly the kind of thing a hot shave is for. It didn't stop there. She was answering texts on her phone mid-appointment. His hair was never washed, dried, or styled. The floor around the station was covered in trash. And to make matters worse, she left the back of his shirt completely soaking wet -- which was especially frustrating because we had a party to attend immediately after. I debated whether to include this, but I feel I have to: my husband is Indian, and the coldness, the dismissiveness, and the overall lack of care left us both feeling deeply uncomfortable. I don't want to make assumptions, but I couldn't leave that unsaid. I can only speak to our experience, and it's possible the other stylists here are wonderful. But this visit left us feeling unwelcome, shortchanged, and honestly just baffled. For the price of a barbershop service, you should at the very least feel like you're in good hands. We did not.

She really took the time to do it right and was super thorough. And she offered to clean it up in 2 weeks time, so my cut will last even longer. Soo used to work at 18/8 men's salon at Marketfair and has brought some of the same relaxing touches with her. Her salon is comfortable and cozy, and very conveniently located. (great sandwhich shop right next door). Soo is prompt and easy to schedule with at a convenient time. In my experience, she is also highly skilled at her craft, and a pleasant person to talk with. My haircut and neck shave came to $45. While not cheap, I nonetheless found it a good value given the time she spent to learn how I like my hair and to clean up my look with great care, as well as her offer to do a refresh to extend the life of my cut in 2 weeks. Plus the hot neck massage and scalp massage. I definitely left relaxed. Highly recommended.

All I get is a message saying that voicemail has not been set up, and then it hangs up on me. Or maybe the phone number needs to be updated? No idea. I'd love to support new businesses, but this is way too hard. Maybe there is an appointment method that I'm not aware of?
