What a great spot in Delmar! I came here on a Saturday evening with my boyfriend. They had a good selection of their own beers as well as one vodka soda collaboration and other New York State canned drinks, including Nine Pin cider and Southern Tier vodka sodas. My boyfriend loves Extra Special Bitter (ESB) beers, which they were offering on tap, so he tried their Her Majesty's Malt ESB. He really liked it and was hoping to get it in cans to-go, however, they didn't have any cans available. I went with their collaboration with Albany Distilling Co., which was a farm vodka soda called Grape Mule Punch. It was delicious! The bartender served it with ice and a lime - super refreshing for a summer night. The bartender was really friendly and helpful, and it was a cool spot to hang out. Love the location. Like the vibe. Nice place to listen to live music on a warm evening. Their Delmartian Hazy IPA is very good. .........The problem is the limited selection. I was there one early summer weekend night and they had only 3 beers on draft and NO IPAs on draft. That's just ridiculous for a brewery. read more

This is so close to the bike path! We went for a ride, easily hopped off the path to stop here for a drink, and then finished our ride. It was a beautiful day. People were sitting outside at the tables and others were playing corn hole in the parking lot. I got the Kenwood Pale Ale and enjoyed it. There are peanuts on the tables to munch on while hang out. I really liked it here - nice laid back feel. If I lived closer I would go for a walk on the path then grab a beer all summer long. read more

This was the first brewery in Delmar and anchors the "warehouse" district of town. Owned locally it has grown over the years but still pours great beer brewed there with regular food trucks and entertainment. A spot that is welcoming to adults and families its a great spot in town for socializing & fresh brewed beer. read more

The Real McCoy Beer - Fill a growler to go! - Breweries Near Me - Delmar, New York

Who can complain about having a nice little brewery and tasting room right in the middle of a suburb? I sure can't. The Real McCoy is a little tough to find, and more signage from the main roads/rail trail would definitely help, but if you turn down by the Delmar post office and go past the Four Corners Luncheonette and Curtis Lumber, you'll eventually find yourself before the garage/building shared by Real McCoy, Royal Meadery, and Brewtus. With seating for no more than 50, and opened only for limited weekend hours (closing up by 6 on Saturday -- according to signage -- but appearing to sometimes stay open a little later in practice), Real McCoy is a low-key place to enjoy a laid-back afternoon pint. Have I loved each beer I've tried (including those I've had at other area restaurants)? No, but I never love each beer at any brewery I visit. The NoName Hefeweizen is a hit for me, and my husband has enjoyed the Mini Martian IPA. We're looking forward to trying other options, and seeing what they come up with next. We enjoyed visiting on St Patrick's Day, where the garage door was kept open, and patrons spilled out into the gravel parking lot, and look forward to coming back in warmer weather. There's no food served, besides bowls of peanuts, but it looks like food trucks are an option in summer, and at special events. Happy to find this fun little gem in Delmar's Four Corners. It's our hope that over time, they'll expand their hours, as well as their beer options (a gose, please). Until then, we'll be back to Real McCoy the next time we have a free hour or two on a weekend afternoon, and also plan to visit the meadery and coffee roastery. read more

Really fun place for COVID outdoor beers. Glad to see that they have heaters and an awning. Although there is tons of outdoor space not so many tables fit under the awning. Had a great dark beer, Pretty dry with a rich flavor but not over powering like a stout. Loved the free salted peanuts. Solid selection of wine and cider. A good crowd on a rainy night. Looking forward to coming again and ordering some food. read more

Huzzah! Brewery walking distance from home! The wiesse opened up beautifully as we sat and enjoyed the perfect weather. The IPA tastes so floral and hoppy. Interesting beer I am happy to sip on and listen to the great music they have playing. They have a fun infused beer we didn't order but is fun they are serving it. Please imagine me stomping my foot in frustration. This is - by far! - the closest brewery to my home; it's in a sleepy street but just off the main centre of Delmar; it's adjacent both to a new meadery *and*, soon, the new home of my favourite coffee folks. I would only need the slightest push to proselytise. There's no push here. We have tried it three times now - once from a friend's growler, most recently at their open house event - and in all cases the beer has just been poor. It's hard to give a good brewery review with bad beer. [DIPA that managed to avoid citrus and be both flat and the wrong kind of bitter, almost the sour of excess acid; coffee stout that missed smooth and went past into watery - you get the gist.] That alone wouldn't drag me down to a single star; what does that is that both times I've interacted with the staff (I assume the owner/brewer, but didn't get enough response to confirm), they have been somewhere between irritated and angry. So, I am genuinely sorry - but there's so much good beer in the country now that even with this being around the corner, we'll not be back. read more

Okay beer, okay food. I like that it's not crowded and has an open, homey feel. The beer isn't anything to write home about but I enjoy the non-crowded atmosphere. Works out to about $6/pour. read more

We really wanted to like this place. We were excited when we heard that Delmar had a small brewery opening. Having visited many a small town's small brewery, we were happy to finally have one of our own. The space itself doesn't disappoint. The tap room is well done in classic brewery-industrial chic. It is warm and welcoming and on the day we visited - hopping. We could hear music and laughter before we opened the door, always a good sign. We could easily imagine how awesome the space will be in the spring once they are able to open up the large garage doors. We cozied up to the bar and proceeded to try every beer offered (ten in total) and unfortunately every one was a disappointment. We've been to breweries where all of the beers are terrible - that's not the Real McCoy. We've been to breweries that struggle with certain styles but have one or two standout beers - that's not the Real McCoy. We've also been to many breweries where the brewing is technically proficient (no absolute clunkers) but all the beers disappoint in the same way - that's the Real McCoy. All of the beers we tried were thin and watery. The flavors were uniformly flat, with the exception of a Basil, Raspberry Porter that managed to be thin and muddled simultaneously. Their West Coast IPA was thin and the bitterness was unpleasant. Their New England IPA was only a slight variation on the West Coast IPA, with none of the juicy mouthfeel the style requires. Their Irish Stout had the requisite roastiness, but again it was unpleasant against the thinness of the beer. To be fair, none of the beers were undrinkable, they were just uniformally unmemorable. We tried 10 and couldn't find one we wanted a full pint of (let alone a second pint of). Also to be fair, the folks who were there seemed to be really enjoying themselves so it just might be that we were the ones missing something. We always hate to write a bad review of a small business. We try to support our local businesses whenever and wherever we can. But we're always thankful for reviews that help us choose the right places to visit (you hate to waste a stop). We're also hopeful that honest feedback will help the Real McCoy realize the need to improve the brews to match the potential of the space. Delmar deserves a great local brewery - with the Real McCoy we're only half way there. read more

I've been an occasional frequenter of the Real McCoy Brewery since midsummer of 2018 and, frankly, I couldn't be more pleased. I laughingly refer to its location on Hallwood as the dark side of Delmar. We literally stumbled upon it, the Royal Meadery and Brewtus, all of which are now on our weekly schedule. The Real McCoy is purely unpretentious, as so many of the microbreweries I've visited in Colorado. They usually feature half a dozen varieties, all of which I've tried with varying degrees of satisfaction. I'm not a hophead, so my favorite is their Hefenwiessen, a mild, tasty and refreshing brew. The atmosphere is relaxed brewpub, with wood hi-top tables with stools, in addition to the bar. The front half has a sofa and armchairs. It is close to the Rail Trail which can be accessed just to the west of Curtis Lumber. The crowd is a polite mix of local folks, cyclists and neighbors, bulk peanuts available aplenty. It is a great place to relax and enjoy a cool one...or two, and a surprising and welcome addition to the neighborhood. read more
