Excellent made to order ice cream! We got the strawberry mango ice cream in a waffle cone and it was a truly enjoyable experience! The ice cream was thick but not overly sweet or creamy, and incredibly refreshing. The ice cream is made to order and you can really taste the fruits. The waffle cone was also homemade and so good! We were obsessed, and immediately got another order after we finished. The spiced chai latte was also very good, and have options for milk alternatives. Price is overall very reasonable. The premise behind this store is that you choose a base ice cream (vanilla/chocolate) and add in 2 different toppings to create your perfect ice cream. I opted into a vanilla base with strawberry and cheesecake bits and it was perfect! I also saw that you have the option to do coffee/ice cream combos which I would love to try when the weather is a little bit cooler. My friend did tell me that the website has more parking information rather than searching the residential areas for a spot (pay via app), so if you are planning a visit you may want to check it out. If you're lucky enough to snap a table outside, you have the opportunity to enjoy your ice cream with some excellent people watching and a picturesque view of the harbor. After seeing so many positive reviews for The Red Bean, my brother suggested that we sample their unique ice cream concept, which involved selecting a simple base and infusing it with all sorts of crazy ingredients. I selected the non-dairy, coconut starter with mix-ins of fresh frozen peach and cinnamon. In fact, I had initially requested pineapple as my fruit, though they were sold out. Instead, only a mere slice of the peach was added into the blender with 3 scoops of cream and a hint of cinnamon. This resulted in a near flavorless custard that felt like a waste of calories. My companions found their blends to be as unexciting and bland as mine. This is like a cute little ice cream and coffee shop... I guess you can call it a Cafe. It has simple, but nice decor kind of artsy. I think they also sell the mugs, canvas paintings, and cards that I posted a picture of. The way it works is you pick chocolate or vanilla ice cream and two Mixins. So I picked vanilla ice cream and I had Oreo and brownie mix ins. You can add additional Mixins for 65 cents. The ice cream is really good and it was fun to watch them make it. There's just crazy machine that likes twirls at all around together and makes it look like beautiful wavy layers that you just can't wait to devour. I have to always meant eating with a cone is more fun but I'm kind of messy and I don't wanna spill it all over the place or eat it too fast. Babe, got a honey lavender latte and I took a sip... It was so good! The service was cool. It was probably a very long day because of the St. Patrick's Day parade. But the line moved very quickly, so they were very efficient at their jobs. Perfect for a warm day! We stumbled upon this place while walking around Annapolis and I'm so glad we did. After some debating on which delicious sounding flavor we will choose, we ended up with the peach honey graham combination and did not regret it! The Red Bean is like a McDonald's McFlurry glow up. You start with a base (vanilla, chocolate, or a little bit of each), and add all the toppings you like. Swirl swirl into a machine it goes and then you are left with your own couture ice cream. It is seriously fantastic and worth the long lines that wrap around the store. I went for a vanilla, dark chocolate chip, green tea and at the urging of the shopkeep added some cherry to the mix. I thought it might be too much flavor town for me but it was a great combination and something that I'll be seeking again! As others have mentioned the layout is pretty awkward and seating is limited but hopefully as they grow they will be able to expand and be more smart about placement. I stopped by The Red Bean for something sweet and a caffeine boost while walking around Annapolis this past week with my mom. We got a couple of coffees, and I also got a small cup of the non-dairy vanilla peppermint brownie. The ice cream was pretty good but the small is too large and it was pretty pricey ($6.25 for a small non-dairy cup). On a Thursday holiday (Veterans Day), it was pretty frantic inside (not easy to get out of the way while waiting for your order and there was a lot of confusion about who was in line to order and who was waiting for their order). Our annual trip to Annapolis with over Fall Break was made even more exciting by the Red Bean's unique ice cream. We were looking for a dinner spot and quickly decided on dessert first. Stopping in, we expected a basic ice cream spot... but oh, no, the Red Bean would not be a basic ice cream stop. Instead, the shop is a hybrid of DQ blizzard meets Cold Stone but in a tastier form. You select your base and mixins (2 is standard, I upped to 3 for a small charge), they mix it in a drill looking machine and it comes out as delectable ice cream, completely mixed - no clumps of cookie dough or a spot that's only ice cream. I put it.to the test ording cookie dough, marshmallow and coffee beans, thinking that surely there would be a wayward coffee bean left whole or a chunk of marshmallow unmixed. But I WAS WRONG. The beans were crushed, the mallow mixed and there was a delectable spread of all 3 flavors throughout as I worked my way through the waffle cone full. This is now regular rotation for us as we ramp up to 2x a year visiting family. The Red Bean will surely be on our agenda always. read more

OMG this is maybe the best ice cream I've ever had in my life. With a bevy of ice cream shops in Downtown Annapolis (DTA), there is stiff competition. All bets were off when I scrolled through the pics and menu selections. When my group of three ladies got into the shop, we all selected a wide variety of flavors. I selected the blackberry green tea with vanilla base because I can't go a day without green tea in some form, and the other two selected a pistachio and a chocolate peanut butter. There is a special blender that combines all the ingredients with the base selection of vanilla or chocolate. Then it comes out soft-serve style in a cone or cup. I'm Team Cone, but I highly advocate for the cone selection. It's delicious! I ordered a medium, and the cone was outrageously huge. I could barely finish it. I am officially obsessed with this place and am mad that it is an hour away from me. My friend took me here for dessert after a happy hour in Annapolis. Pretty much the McFlurry on steroids, gotta hand it to you Annapolis! Came here for a pit stop with some friends after a day in Sandy Point. Concept's simple enough - vanilla or chocolate base, pick a size, cup or cone, then at least a couple mix ins. There seems to be the whole standard fare of fruits, candies, syrups, and toppings - but there's some pretty out there options like Old Bay seasoning and Rum syrup. These things are huge and are mixed extremely well. I'm pretty convinced the cone gets a little more ice cream based on what my friends say, but the medium cup felt gigantic even for a big dude like me. I opted for Pineapple and Old Bay - the fruit flavor permeated the entire swirl, and my joke topping just made it a little saltier haha - wasn't terrible but maybe needed another topping to round it out. The staff was friendly, we asked about the dairy free ice creams but didn't really get a lot of information on how it was made, mostly we wanted to know what it was made with. We also asked if it is a popular flavor but didn't really get a response. Personal I thought the ice cream was on the more expensive side. Dairy free dark chocolate with chili - our review, I would not get it again, the coconut ice cream base was overwhelming and the dark chocolate pieces were chunky in the ice cream. The chili powder was an unpleasant spice after the bite. Overall I nor my friends did not like this ice cream, but due to the cost we tried to power through as much as possible, which didn't end up being a lot. I love this place. The coffee is great. You can still order a French press of coffee here, which I love. They also have great ice cream with both dairy and nondairy options. They have stuff that can be mixed in the ice cream as well. It's absolutely delicious. They also have a small section of locally produced items for sale. I've purchased several things from that section over the years. You won't be disappointed with the coffee, the ice cream, or the atmosphere. Ok, a brief stop on a cold, cold, COLD morning, this little beanery was warm and inviting. Oddly tucked into what was once an old clothing store, it boasts sparse seating but comfortable. Seating, a mellow sound track and a good atmosphere. Bagels were fresh but regular. The coffee was good, not stellar but a good cup. With so many ice creameries on this street, I didn't know why my cousin wanted to take me to this one in particular...after trying their ice cream, I found out why. What a unique ice creamery! You pick Vanilla or Chocolate ice cream as your base and you can select "mix in's" ranging from brownies to coconut to red bean or green tea. They put your selections through a big mixer and it comes out all mixed up. So just imagine creating your own ice cream flavor because the taste is *very* strong esp. for things like peanut butter or brownie/chocolate. The only critique I have is don't expect your mix in's to stay in solid form (for example, the brownie pieces & cookie dough will disappear and you'll just taste the flavor so no actual pieces of brownie/cookie dough will be left). So if you want chunks of something, that's not what you'll get. Just becareful when you pick your mix-ins because some combination with strong flavors will cancel each other out or make it so you don't want to eat it anymore. Next time, I'll pick my mix ins better and I'm sure it'll be delicious! Great price for the portions they give you too. read more
