I gave it a three stars for the food and the selection of food. I give it a five for the drinks. It's kind of hard to mess up drinks. If you do order food, be prepared for a long wait. This establishment is basically attractive to live music lovers. They have plenty of room to dance. Make sure you go out on the deck to enjoy the view of the pond. However, due to having half of the building not being temperature controlled, it is going to be hot during the summer and cold during the winter. Make sure you dress appropriately. read more

This was our first time here, traveling from out of state. We walked in around 9:30, not aware that the kitchen was closing. Our waitress approached management and they personally came to our table, offering to make us anything from the griddle. The wings were phenomenal (Spicy Garlic Parm and Jameson Honey Whiskey) and the drinks were very reasonably priced. All of the staff were friendly and checked on us, making us feel very welcomed. The atmosphere left nothing to be desired! We sat on the deck overlooking a small lake- there were string lights, some signs and decor, and just enough light to set a relaxing vibe. They were even decorating for Halloween, and all of the staff were happy and excited, such a nice sight that showcased a family environment. We later realized it was the owner who had approached us and personally cooked our food! What an amazing way to welcome and take care of customers! Took a group of 20+ to eat dinner at the Red Stag Tavern on a Friday night. Made arrangements in advance. Fun little establishment that sits on a lake. Not a lot of room in the main dining area, but a decent sized open area patio that can be closed in during the colder months that overlooks the lake. Quite picturesque. We all sat on the closed in patio and the restaurant had a number of propane heaters going which made things quite comfortable. Service was outstanding. Everyone was hustling. Servers were attentive, informative, helpful and just a delight. They handled the large group quite well. Drinks from the bar are quite reasonably priced. Menu has a variety of things to choose from both in appetizers and entrees, not overly large, but sufficient to suit most tastes. Most expensive item is the ribeye steak, it looked really good. Menu has Shepherd's Pie, Steak sandwich, Fish and Chips, Burgers, Chicken Sandwiches, Torta/Cubano's and Salads. The group tried a bit of everything. All was good and no complaints heard. I went with the steak sandwich. It was very tasty and seemed to be flavored with fajita seasoning. Also a good variety of appetizers such as cheese curds (delicious), fired pickles (also delicious), soft pretzels, nachos, onion rings, tacos, wings, shrimp, taquitos, oysters, etc. Lots of good choices. Dessert you have a choice of cheesecake, brownie sundae and stuffed churros. Great service, good food and reasonable prices. Friday night there was also a band playing and it was outstanding. I absolutely love this place! My husband and I had dinner there and everything was so good. I had the ribeye (perfectly cooked) and it was huge, I had to share with my husband. The jalapenos spears were awesome (I could have just eaten those all night). We sat outside by the pond, and we could see all the fish and turtles swimming up to see what we had. The waitress brought us a cup of catfish food so we could feed them. We loved every moment. Our waitress was also very attentive and friendly. I absolutely recommend this place. read more

He got -I think it's called a Cubano sandwich - and it was big, messy and piping hot. The fries are like battered and have parm on them- whatever they have on them they sure are good. I had loaded nachos. My only complaint is the cheese is a sauce and not sure if it's from a can but other than that it was pretty good and a huge portion. I brought over half back to the hotel. They had a live band in the back half of the restaurant. They sounded pretty good, but we sat up in the front. Pretty much everything on the menu would be considered acceptable to above average in any town. Vidalia you can upgrade that to pretty spectacular. I don't know what they do with their smash burgers, but they really are fantastic. Do not miss the gigantic onion rings. For those of you who like to enjoy some tobacco after dinner or with your dinner, they do have a smoking section. This is a very solid choice. read more

We were previously regular customers at Red Stag and really enjoy their tacos and wings, but when trying to eat our meal we were overwhelmed with a cigar smell and saw that a person was being allowed to vape sitting at the bar in close proximity to the dining tables. Since we had our grandaughter with us and could not taste our food due to the smell, we quickly finished and boxed up our meal. We have not been back since. I'm not sure what the law is about vaping in a public restaurant but I would hope the owners/managers would be considerate and put a stop to smoking or vaping near diners, especially those with small children. read more

We heard about this great restaurant and decided to try it; however, we decided not to stay after walking in. We sat down and we're patiently waiting to give our drink order. One of the waitresses was filling the ketchup bottles. She used her hand to wipe off the excess ketchup sliding down the side of the container. She then proceeded to wipe the excess into the top of the container while scraping each individual finger. No gloves. She had just had her hands on her clothes and on the table yet when I spoke to her about how that was not appropriate, her automatic response was my hands are clean. No mam. When you touch other surfaces your hands are not clean. When your husband is a food inspector, he notices everything. So, if you are going to eat here, don't use the ketchup! read more

This is my go to restaurant when work brings me to Vidalia (which happens more than you'd expect... I've spent a total of 4 weeks here in the past couple of months)! The food is consistently great, the only thing I haven't cared for is hibachi, and that's based on personal preference. The service is generally great as well. There have been a couple of off nights, but they've all been with one waitress, so I'd consider them the exception. Tuesdays are tacos and trivia nights, which is my favorite! Two dollar tacos (chicken, pork, beef, or shrimp), and a different "special " taco each week for $3. When trying to find new restaurants in the area, I came across Red Stag Tavern, which had great reviews for the food, so we decided to try it. Upon walking in, it seemed more sports bar than it did restaurant, which was a little concerning at the time, since we were going to eat and not drink, but we decided to stay. I'm glad we did. The restaurant is a very casual environment, with a "pub" feel entrance and rear dining room with stage, but also a deck off the back of the building which overlooks a pond. Unfortunately the patio was closed the night we went, so we chose to eat in the rear dining area. We ordered the Tavern shrimp as an appetizer, which were large and fried well, also came with a dipping sauce which was pretty tasty. Next we had the Philly cheessteak, with fries, a dude burger, with onion rings, and the house salad. The salad came out nice with fresh greens. The Philly wasn't the best Philly we've had, but was OK. The dude burger (aside from being undercooked, I ordered medium and got red, almost rare inside) was delicious. I ate the while thing even being undercooked. The real surprise, however, were the fries and onion rings, they were delicious. I would go back just for them. The server told us they had trivia nights on Tuesday and live music Friday and Saturday, which all sound like fun, and we will probably return for one of those nights to check them out. read more

I'm in town (Vidalia) for work and wasn't quite prepared for most restaurants closing at NINE O'CLOCK!? (be aware if you aren't already). Thankfully, I was recommended this place by the hostess at the original restaurant I went to. I had the tacos, one pork and one chicken. Very good flavor. The aioli wasn't over powering, and the salsa gave a sweetness that was perfect with both meats. I could have probably had those two things and gone home satisfied. If you don't have a big appetite, I highly recommend! (Or, as an appetizer, like I did.) But, I'm a growing boy. I also ordered the bacon cheeseburger, and because I couldn't pick between parmesan fries and the three cheese mac, I paid the $3 and had them bring both. You never want to have too few carbs.. The Parm fries: get them if you like fries. So tasty. They're thick cut and deep fried, dressed with plenty of parmesan. You won't be disappointed. There's nothing else that needs to be said. The bacon cheese burger was tasty; a Ron Swanson special. I don't know the precooked weight but it was really hefty in the hand. While Ron would be proud of the slab of beef covered in cheese and crowned with bacon, I was a little surprised there were no vegetable toppings - maybe even disappointed. They've only been open a few weeks though and they may still be working out the loss rate for produce. I can understand that since vegetables are expensive and are only fresh for a few days that they would try to limit those losses at first. Hopefully they'll eventually add that. Per the suggestion of the bar keep, I tried adding some of my Mac and cheese to the burger. It felt very much like something I would have done when I was 12 - but as it turns out, I must have been a pretty smart 12 year old. It added some texture to the beef and bacon, and well, cheese. I'd order it again, but I also want to try the shepherd's pie. It's a clean, comfortable, and cozy atmosphere. I overheard (from the female proprietor) that when working on the concept, they wanted to create a place that traveling females would feel comfortable coming to - because that'd probably mean anyone else would feel comfortable too. The vibe was very friendly and inviting, the decor was more chic than shabby, and the music comprised of Avett Brothers and acoustic Pearl Jam... I'm not going to over generalize, but most of the girls I hang out with would have no second though about coming here alone. Mission accomplished. read more

But the fish n chips is so good that I inhale it in 0.4 seconds. Tacos Tuesday, Trivia night, and Band night is also very fun things to do.
