Since there were only two options and the restaurant was out of the original wine ordered, we assumed the price would be adjusted accordingly. When the bill arrived, we were charged the full $18 per glass. We politely asked the manager, Taylor, about it. Her first response was, "Did you drink it?" When we explained that we did, but that the substitution was due to the restaurant being out of the wine we ordered, she followed with, "Have you been here before?"--which felt unnecessarily dismissive considering we have visited at least 30+ times. Taylor refused to adjust the price, stating that because we drank the wine, no adjustment would be made. When we decided to simply pay and leave, she then commented that we were "escalating things."
