As a first-time customer, I needed to fill out a form about my skin history. It wasn't long before the esthetician, Lisa Marie, greeted me and led me to the facial room, which was neat and clean. I laid down on the bed and she started my facial. The warm steam blowing in my face made me feel as if I couldn't breathe and she turned it off immediately. The relaxing procedure was over before I knew it. I went to the receptionist desk afterward and was informed of the Refresh Bar & Spa membership for $29/month. This time, I asked her to do pull through braid and I was so happy with how it came out. We visited the Refresh Bar while traveling from out of town. There were 3 of us. There was an issue with a massage therapist being ill but we adjusted our timing and they were able to accommodate us our 50 minute massage, facial, and blow outs! The waiting area has lots of beverage options, reading material and cool comfy chairs. The blowout bar area is located on Route 66 with amazing Cathedral ceilings. The room had amazing light, Windows, and decor. Really a fun place to go with your friends! See my photos! The stylists provided options and did an great job on all of us! My scalp massage felt fantastic! Talented ladies! Jesse did all of our massages. He was personable, respectful with draping and has the perfect amount of pressure! I came here for the first time a couple of weeks ago and had an amazing experience! Upon arriving I was greeted and staff was very friendly. I did get there a little early and had to wait. As I sat waiting, I noticed it was a very uplifting environment... the staff seemed to be positive and happy ... I liked that! I haven't had a facial in awhile and was really looking forward to receive my Fire and Ice Facial! There was a water cooler though. smh. The "Spa" is shared with a hair salon and a skin care clinic, which is not unusual, for a spa, but again it was more like a dr's office. This was my first time here, but I had heard good things about this place, from a friend who went here before. I am not new to massages. So, I went in, with a positive expectation. Unfortunately, It didn't work out well. I met my massuese Chelsea, who I requested, because of the positive feedback she received on this site. I don't know, if she was having a bad day or it's just her personality, but she was not very friendly, not mean, but not welcoming either. Again, more business-like, than anything, still getting that medical clinic vibe. She took me to the room. Didn't wait long for her to begin. The Massage: I expressed that I had lower back issue on my right side and basically sore all over, because I workout 4-5 times week. The first thing that threw me off, was that as I lay face down, she covered my head with a towel. I've never had that done and it didn't sit well with me after a while. Her technique was just ok, not bad, but it seemed erratic and there seemed to be no consistency to the massage. She did focus on my lower back, but spent little time anywhere else. It seemed like she did not have a lot of experience. Rubbed my legs, but more so on the calves and a little on the bottom of my feet. Totally neglected my toes and top of my feet and barely addressed my thighs or the biggest muscle on the body-the Glutes. smh. The attention and time on my shoulder and arms was very little and not very well done. Neglected the hand and fingers. Last, but not least when i laid on my back, she covered my eyes with the towel again, and not loosely either. I felt like i was going to hit a pinata. The music was piped in thru the speaker system, which I feel takes away from the massuese personalizing the enviroment to their style. The lighting was a flourescent like and the oil used had no scent. The whole experience was bland to put it nicely. I don't recommend this place. I'm just glad I purchased it thru Groupon, but i'm still not happy i spent $34 dollars there, because it was not even worth that. I can't imagine paying the full price for that experience. read more

My best friend surprised me with a massage, blow out, and make up to this place. Upon entering, I knew this place was going to be a favorite. This place is so clean and the staff was super welcoming. I was lucky to get Sabrina for my message, man does she know how to give a great message! Unlike past places I've been to, she really listens and makes sure that you're comfortable. I would definitely book her again! As for the blow out and make up, I had Christie. She was super nice and friendly. I can tell that she really enjoys her job and takes pride in her work. She listened to me and made me look great before my birthday dinner with friends. I received compliments for my make up. She made me look naturally stunning, none of that Kardashian cake make up. She took her time even though I was there past 4:30. My best friend on the other hand, had some disgruntled young girl with blonde hair. She had an attitude from the get go. I am very happy with my experience today. Vanessa did a great job on my facial, and I totally recommend her! I got to my appointment a few minutes late because I mixed up my times, and she made excellent use of the time we had left. She was cheerful, worked quickly and thoroughly. I still felt like I got a great value with the time we had, and some helpful skin care tips to take home. As of right now, It's been just an hour or two since I got out and I'm loving my glow. I am the type of person who is nervous going into a new treatment with a new person. Largely because I never know if someone will be too rough, or do something I don't like... So because of that, I am quick to recommend someone who can make me feel comfortable right away, who has great work ethic, and gives results. I'll definitely be going back! I've gone to Refresh in the past for eyelashes, and except some difficulties getting appointments with a consistent technician, I've had a good experience. Although they had made few mistakes with billing and scheduling,both times they more than made it up to me. I think that's all anyone can ask for! All businesses make mistakes, and when they are willing to go out of their way to make it right it shows they truly value their clients. I hate to mention anything critical... but this is a review and I want to be fair. The only thing I think Refresh as a business could improve upon is regarding the girls in the front. They do their job for sure, but as a guest I would like to feel a little more welcomed. I've been going on and off for a year and a half now, and in general they seem slightly distant, almost like they are unhappy (there are definitely exceptions, of course!).... Its like the smiles can potentially seem forced. They ALL look fabulous... dressed to impress and full makeup, injections etc, there is no warmth though which is what would make it feel a lot more like home! The first time I got a go and glow facial but it didn't help me face because I actually starting breaking out the next day but I think also it's because I have really sensitive and damaged skin. I am seriously saddened to give a bad review but customer service & professionalism went to toilet with the B team who closed on a Saturday night 8/18/18. My appt was at 4pm with one that a receptionist rec since Carlene/Michelle were not available. I arrived at 3:40 to a receptionist who barely looked at me. I sat down & watched as the lady in front of me was anxiously waiting & asking receptionist why the long wait. As a mom of 2 babies w/ limited time to spare & a sitter who could only watch for a certain period, I became nervous. But I looked at the time, it wasn't 4 yet so I didn't want to make a big deal. 4:05 rolls around so I asked receptionist for an eta. She doesn't greet me or apologize for the delay & came up with this, "your girl called sick today but we were able to squeeze you in with someone else and that's why there's a delay. But she's almost done. The client she's doing is just a dry style." I was annoyed that her tone made it seem like she was doing me a favor. Where was I in this convo in her head where I agreed to have my appt pushed back. I asked why I wasn't telephoned so I could reschedule or modify my childcare. I also said, "she's not my girl. This is the first time I'm meeting her." She didn't seem to care & repeated the squeezing me in part and then gave me silence treatment as to tell me she was done with the convo. 4:30 comes and I see the stylist she pointed out come out to serve a DIFFERENT client so I go back to the receptionist as to why I was skipped again. She said, as soon as THIS OTHER STYLIST is done she can wash your hair to get you started and then the (original) stylist can finish up. What kind of shenanigans? Where was I in this convo in her convoluted head? She made it seem like I'd be waiting minutes and it literally turned into almost an hour and I'm still sitting on the couch. Her word means nothing by now. How could I trust someone who kept making empty promises? I told her that I had to cancel my appt and walked out of there. I've been going to this place since it opened & have gotten multiple blowouts annually. I'm also always praising this place & recommending it to other friends, work colleagues & people on fb mom groups but now there will not be any of this going on. Things got busy after 2nd baby so I didn't realize there was an influx of new staff bc the receptionist & stylists that were working today were foreign to me. These girls seriously need to work on their customer service skills & professionalism bc if you were up front with me from the beginning then I'd be fine. Not cool to string someone along for almost an hour with no solution. Multiple ways this could have handled like calling everyone who had an appt with said employee that called sick to provide them with the option to decide... that's what one with great customer service would do. Quit telling your client she's almost done an hour later when that isn't the case... just be honest!! It's really not that hard. read more

Omg! I just got done with a massage for Joe!! It was my first time at this establishment and being a new customer they had a deal of $35 for 50 min massage. I opted to add a sport massage boost for $10 because I have a marathon run 3 days. The massage itself was amazing but painful in a good way. Apparently my whole body was very tight. I do work out a lot using heavy weights. So this was one of the causes of tightness. My upper back where my shoulders are had the biggest knots I never knew I had and were pretty deep in there. He manage to get some it out but I know I need to keep coming back. He also relieved my muscles in my legs that were also tight as hell. My goodness that burning needle like feeling was what I needed to relax my leg muscles for my half marathon run. Joe did an amazing job! Like seriosuly this guy has magic hands hahaha. I received a much needed massage today at Refresh Bar and Spa. The spa felt hip and relaxed and had great lounge furniture in the waiting area. The self serve Kuerig was also a hit in my book. The receptionist was also very knowledgeable and pleasant...which is important because she was the first person I encountered before my massage. My masseuse was Chelsea and she was great! I had multiple knots in my back and she really worked them out! She talked during the massage, just enough for necessity but not too much at all to takeaway from the relaxation portion...I was so relaxed and wanted the massage to keep going! The spa is clean, modern and rivals larger chain spas. They have great prices and packages available. I'm looking forward to going back and getting my knotts working on some more in the next month or so..... The spa also has a hair salon and is adjacent to a medical skin center. They even had a blowout bar for hair, which I have never seen before. I had a 50 minute Swedish Massage with Chelsea and I thought she did a great job. This is literally my home away from home. I see the staff here almost on a weekly basis and I'm not ashamed to admit it! :) Every person working at Refresh displays top-notch customer service! Ask about their membership to save big and score awesome discounts and perks! I absolutely love the fact that the I.E. has a stellar blow out bar that also offers additional services such as eyelash extensions. I love me some fluttery eyelashes and consider blowouts a necessity... Jill is an eyelash guru who does the most beautiful lashes and gives the best girl talks. I've come to this spot a few times now and it's been for blow outs, an updo, and makeup once. As soon as you walk in, you'll notice how clean the facility is but note that the left side of the reception area when you walk in is for the surgery/cosmetic section and the right side is for the blow out/makeup section. The ladies there aren't super friendly but friendly because it's in their job description if you know what I mean. I've always come in with an appointment and have been greeted on time. I've had various ladies do my hair and the only one lady who I really liked did my updo. I was going to an event and wanted my hair up like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman and she nailed it, it was a messy curly updo and she was super friendly and kind. The other ladies I have gotten a blow out from just were like "thank you, next." I don't really mind because I'm not a super social butterfly, I want my hair done properly and out of there. However, there is something to be said about politeness and friendliness especially if you want a nice tip. I one had a blow out done by a lady and asked if she could add my clip in extensions (part of my appointment scheduled) and she was fine with it. I have my extensions stored in one of those plastic zip bags with a hanger-clip. Instead of asking me, "hey how do you get the extensions out of the clip?" she proceeded to pull them. I immediately grabbed it from her and opened the clip and she was like "ohhhhh." So obviously she was wondering how to open it but just decided not to ask. As hair stylists you know how expensive hair extensions could be so appreciate your customer better. I asked for volume hair and she made me feel like a Texan pageant winner lol it was fine cuz I didn't show her a photo but when I got in my car I fixed it myself so I didn't look like a lioness. The one time I got my makeup done for my Doctorate graduation photos, I rushed home and washed it off. I don't think that the makeup they use are anything to be wowed about. I didn't notice any good skin care to prep, even though they have a rack of products they sell for skin care. My makeup turned out to be so dry and cakey. They have eye shadow palettes that are instafamous like Morphe but then again so do I. People come to get their makeup done to provide them something they can't do on their own. I wish they had a booklet of their artists and their work. Since it was my first time, I just got it with someone I did not know, trusting that she was a MUA. Now, I just come for the blow out if my other spot isn't available and don't expect wow-za. I've always felt like another head to do rather than an actual client.
