I organized the trip, so I got to work with one of the owners, Jesse, to get everything set up. He was helpful, responsive, accommodating, and really kind. I organize a lot for my friends and myself, and this was one of the easiest. Upon arrival we were checked in by the other owner, Gary, who immediately made us feel like we were at home. He gave us a wonderful tour of the property and told us everything we needed to know for a wonderful stay. This property is nestled in the hills of WV and the views are STUNNING! Every space and room is beautifully appointed, really leaning into the upscale rustic vibe you'd expect in a mountain retreat. So many beautiful nooks and crannies to sit and read or play games or just nap. The pool and hot tub are gorgeous and Logan at the pool bar will take amazing care of you! They provide a complimentary breakfast of freshly cooked eggs, meats, and biscuits/scones. The lunch and dinner menus are varied and everything we had was delicious. Our servers, Rain (spelling ??) and Angie were stellar and the ambience was just perfect. Every single one of us left feeling refreshed and we were all sad to leave. Do yourself a favor and make the trek out to Lost River and treat yourself. This place is amazing and I'm already planning my next trip here with my partner.

A winding road through a rocky valley with a mountain stream that flows to the Lost River. Then you turn into the Guesthouse and the stunning main building and cute cabins are so perfectly placed on the property with lovely landscaping. Walk into the main lobby to be greeted by Gary, one of the owners. He was super pleasant and took us on a tour of the property pointing out the dining room, bar, pool (although it was still closed for winter), hot tub and sauna, gym, multiple media rooms, game rooms and lounge areas, and then our room in the Hobson Cabin. The room was well appointed and clean. The shower was beautiful and had great water pressure and temperature. The balcony had wonderful views of the parks close by. A country breakfast is served daily at 9 and is a great start to the day. The dining room is open in the evening for drinks and dinner with a menu for anyone! Gary and Jesse are always close by if you ever need anything and make you feel most welcome. We can't wait to visit again in the summer so we can make full use of the pool and enjoy some nearby hiking!

I wish I could give the houses more stars than last time, but sadly, not much has changed. The houses look a little more tired than before, and the state park still hasn't done anything to make them any more comfortable or inviting. If I was in charge of the houses, I would hang old-timey pictures of men logging, of trains, scenery from other state parks, and black and white photos of the town of Cass from 100 years ago. Give your customers a sense of time and place. Also, these houses still need a lot of love and maintenance. They need new paint, roofs, and other miscellaneous items repaired or replaced. Overall, this is still a very cool place, and I will probably be back. But it's as if I can feel the town slowly dying....without more money and maintenance from the state.

It is definitely an amazing place to take your family. The green and blue slopes are within a short walk and so is the village. You can ski into the back door a short distance. If you are better at the slopes, you can ski right out that door down a black diamond. When you are done skiing, the mud room comes convenient with air driers for your boots and gloves. You have plenty of hooks to hang your ski gear and shelves to store snowboards and skiis. The beds are very comfortable and there owners provide games and a dvd's to watch to relax after a day on the slopes. It is a beautiful set up and amazing place to stay. I highly recommend this place. There is a porch to hang out on and two bathrooms, one for the master and one for the other two bedrooms to use. The master bathroom has a jetted tub and the other bathroom has a very nice walk in shower. This is truly an amazing place to stay and well worth the money! My kids scouted just about every trail on the Mountain and kept coming back to Shays Revenge and Cupp Run as their favorites. Both runs start right out the back door from Hutch 8. We could watch the kids arrive on the lift and then either start their run or come in the back door for some hot chocolate. The owner Jeff is very involved and helpful and answered every question from my original inquiry to trip end. The property has everything you would need from a fully equipped Mud Room with ski racks, boot dryers etc. The kitchen has everything you would need to feed your crew and was the cleanest of any property I have rented. Big screen TV, DVD player and a library of DVD's and books to read. Centrally located, we parked on day one and walked to the main Resort Village for shops and restaurants. My grandson had an equipment malfunction on day one with a broken boot. Drove down the Mountain to the Ski Barn which was recommended by Jeff. New boot selected, fitted and binding adjustment and back on the slopes in less than 45 minutes. This is the only time we drove our car in five days. If you want ski on ski off, this is the best location on the mountain.

You look out your window at trees, forests, and ridges. The owners have created a warm, friendly environment, with many decorations that make for a rustic feel. Overall the Inn is a really nice place to stay, but here are a few things to consider: - The driveway is a lengthy (0.2-mile), gravel-covered, steep hill. We have an SUV and each time we went up the driveway our lights went on indicating unstable traction. Keep this in mind if you have a smaller vehicle or plan to go in the snowy months. - Breakfast is complimentary and dinner is provided for an additional fee ($30 per person per night and $45 on Saturdays). The food is delicious and all home-made. Ed is a fantastic chef - see many pics posted below. However, he makes a set amount of food per-person and there is no extra food. The first night we were there my wife and I had done a long hike in the afternoon and we were very hungry. Dinner was tasty but it was not enough food for us. When I asked if we could have more Ed said there was none. So consider your personal needs when thinking about meals. Since the Inn is so secluded, it is not easy to drive to a restaurant (20-30 minutes at least). - Breakfast is at 8am and dinner is at 7pm. This is a reasonable schedule for most people. My wife and I are early risers though and found ourselves up long before breakfast, so it ended up feeing like we had to wait around before starting our day (there is a coffee & tea station setup that you can go to at any time of day). Again, this will work for some people but not others. - The wifi is spotty. It's good enough to look up directions on Google maps but you can't stream a show or movie if that's your kind of thing to do on vacation. - There were a few extra charges that we didn't expect. For example, dinner Saturday night was $45 per person and Ed offered us wine with dinner (he is a sommelier and has a great selection). We were surprised to see that the wine was $15 per glass when we got our final bill at checkout. We could have asked of course, but we didn't think of it and Ed didn't mention it.

My wife and I have stayed here 3 years in a row and we absolutely love the area, lots of trails for hiking, a near by Golf Course at Canaan Valley Resort, Seneca Rocks are close by for day time activities. The towns of Davis and Thomas are also close by with tons of good shops, breweries, and restaurants. We absolutely love this part of the country. The cabins have everything you need whether you want to stay in and cook in their fully equipped kitchen, all you need to bring is food & drinks! There are even Charcoal grills at every cabin and the Jacuzzi hot tubs are perfect to pass the mornings & evenings away. Our cabin Serenity had a pool table and bubble hockey game upstairs. Plenty of DVD's, dish network tv, puzzles, books, and some games. The beds are a little firm for our taste, but that is really the only negative that I have. The destination is popular for all Canaan Valley activities (skiing, horse back riding, cavern exploration, etc). We frequent these cabins for recreation, relaxation, rest and recuperation. The cabins are second to none and the attention to detail is simply amazing. The cabins are decorated with five star quality and they all present that home away from home feeling. The kitchens have all the appliances, dishes, pots and pans that you need in order to prepare those home cooked meals while living in your home away from home. This was our second time visiting this luxury cabin resort and we decided to bring our brother and sister along for a birthday celebration. My wife and I stayed in the Royale Cabin and my Brother and sister stayed in the Majestic Cabin. When we arrived we walked right into our cabin and were amazed by the captivating appeal. The soft music was playing in the background and the cozy gas fireplace had the place warm and toasty inside. Both cabins were even meticulously decorated for Christmas holiday which was a very nice touch. Daniel & Jamie Marsh are Simply Outstanding and you can tell that they care about their customers experience.
