When Mariah started performing bout like 10ish it was packed I was dripping sweat, security was amazing handing out waters to us seeing we needed um, it got to a point where I felt so dizzy I needed to leave n go get something cold like ice. I usually eat ice cause I'm anemic, it helps whenever I get overheated or I have migraines. Anywho my wahine was holding my hand guiding the way to the bar to get "JUST ICE" no drinks no natinnn, just ice. She got to da bar before me and asked if she could get ice, da lady looks at her wrist tells her no, looks her up n down, den snobs her. I see dat so I wen say "it's for me could I please get just ice". She looks at me says no, and walks away, i try asking her why, she ignores me and types away at the screen. Went to The Republik because they were apparently having an After Party after the Kaskade show at the Waikiki Shell. As a visitor, I didn't know much else going on after the show and thought this was much more of an official after party than it was... they didn't even spell Kaskade's name right on their flyer LOL. The line took forever to get in and security seemed to be picking and choosing who got in and who didn't... I've been coming to The Republik for eight years now, and have never had a bad time. From dubstep, to reggae, to indie-rock, every show has been a blast. The security is no-nonsense, yet still remains courteous, and the bartenders are always super speedy and efficient, regardless of how busy it gets. The drinks are nice and strong, too, which will please those who like to watch a show intoxicated. Came through as a last minute plan for Emo Night Loved the ambiance when I first arrived... everything in black and dripping in chandeliers. The whole night reminded me of my high school playlist. Good times all around. Bartenders were dope AF, don't forget to tip generously because they work super hard. The one thing that leaves a lot to be desired are the bathrooms. The women's restrooms were disgusting. Truly awful. Sticky and wet patches and smelly. Please get someone in to clean it regularly THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT... not just at the beginning and ending. Your patrons deserve better. And while you're at it, better cooling/ventilation wouldn't hurt either... the area ld the dance floor leading to the women's restrooms smelled badly of BO. I definitely encourage everyone to read the reviews. We arrived around 9:45 for a 10:00 PM show. The security told us to stand along the ramp because they were cleaning from the first show. You could tell some of the security staff took their job really seriously (and not in a good way). I read the previous reviews so I complied with all of their rules. I did not want to get kicked out nor did I want to get denied entry. I did not want to waste money since we pre-bought our tickets. Around 10:15 they told us to stand at the front door. This was an 18+ event, EDM DJ sets. You can take in a regular bag. I had my ID out and ready to go. I had a small bag. It was briefly looked through at the door. Another person scanned our tickets, and just like that, we were IN. The place is BIG. The air conditioner was working great. We snagged a table in the back area, where the back bar is. A few tables had "reserved" on them although no one sat at them all night except the security guards. No review of the food. The bartender said that the kitchen is only open for earlier shows. Looks like they had pizza, burgers, and something else on the menu. All of the bartenders we interacted with were super nice. Nice pour, not too much, not too little. We were overly cautious with our drink consumption because previous reviewers said they got roofied here. And, there was a guy who threw up all over the guy's bathroom. So we had to keep our thinking caps on. I dropped a few things out of my little teenie tiny purse- went back the next day and was able to recover my ID. My little portable charger didn't make it home, but I'll take the ID over anything. It is in Ala Moana's parking lot. And, there is another "club" downstairs from this one. I think it is called the District. Overall, it was a good time. They pushed us all out around 1:30 ish AM. I was good with that. With the security, you could tell some of them were just jerks. First concert at Rebublik was good. I was 30 min late and the place was packed! Doors open at 8pm so if u wanna be up near stage get there early! 2nd concert I was actually on time and the security lady at entrance was super cool. I was caught with an outside drink (a High Noon). Fair enough, but security handled it very poorly. I was immediately escorted out and had my band cut. Then I was questioned and shamed publicly. I understand confiscating the drink or a stern conversation, but to evict me for this was an extreme reaction. It ruined the night for me and my group. Well things got crazy last night and I thought I was being gestured to hop over the rail and give it to him. Some artists are okay with that and encourage breaking the rules lol. I'm not a person to attack someone on stage. I was just confused. The security also looked like they were gesturing me over the rail. Maybe a way to kick me out? Anyways, they told me to get out. My friends and I talked about it and they thought the security and artist were gesturing me over the rail too so it wasn't just me. I got lucky and was given a warning. I apologized a lot. Like I said, I was excited and confused all at the same time. They let me back in to continue the show. Maybe because I just cooperated with their escort out and apologized. I did leave with a pretty nasty cut on my leg. No one checked up on me to see if I got injured. There's a side on the railing that was pretty jagged and I caught my leg on it going over. I get security is just doing their job for the safety of the artist and everyone in the venue. It's only the republik's security that everyone seems to find issues with. I saw them manhandling some guy out the door sure what the issue was but it was aggressive. Some of the security guards laughed about the whole thing at the end of the night. He threw my cash down at the bar, demanding i face my cash bills in the same direction for him "because it's bar etiquette". Cool venue, pretty spacious and you can see the performer well from anywhere. Bars were pretty quick for how busy it was. Drinks a little pricey but nothing crazy. Did not like the bathroom attendant thing going on - wasn't expecting it for such a casual club. Bouncers were a little wild, kicking people out for getting on shoulders - there wasn't a sign or anything saying that wasn't allowed. If i could give zero stars I would. Went here for the Keshi concert 12/16/2022. Security thought my ID was fake and did not give me a wristband. Show was slated to start at 8:00, Keshi didn't come out till 9:30 and not even 30 minutes in, someone threw something at his eye and he had to walk offstage because he was bleeding. Stepped outside to take a breather and trued to go back inside but the rule was if you don't have your wristband, you are DENIED re-entry that's their policy so to say. My group walked back to where everyone was standing outside and saw a couple walk up to the same security that denied my re-entry without a wristband. Then the security guard proceeded to take out the wristbands and put a wristband on the guy and his girlfriend and let them go back inside. I have no idea why that couple was allowed to go in and I wasn't. Security is absolute shit and were paid to stand around or sit on their asses. When taking the (i assume) VIP ticketholders to the front security pushed through people without even saying an "excuse me." One security guard even swore at the people standing by me and said, "f***ing move!" And they give special exceptions to certain people apparently. Had the security stood by the stage, maybe Keshi wouldn't have gotten hit in the eye. I didn't even see the said perpetrator get escorted out. I will NEVER go back to this venue. Went to the Teddy Swims concert. Teddy Swims has a gorgeous voice, but it is much better on YouTube. The Republik didn't do Teddy's voice justice. Next time Teddy Swims comes to the islands, I hope they chose a better venue. As gorgeous as his voice was, I couldn't enjoy it much because the music was so LOUD! I could feel the bass pounding in my chest! At one point, my ears were ringing. This was a sold out show. It was crowded! I wish we had reserved seats like others did. Otherwise, you must stand in a crowded room. Difficult to wear face mask in the crowd. The bar staff was busy! Expect a long wait for service. The security staff were good, trying to clear the walkways. The outside security staff were nice. There was an incident requiring an ambulance and fire department. Not sure what happened, but security took control of the crowd outside. The crowd inside enjoyed the music. No fights or rowdiness. The huge screens were nice to watch the concert from the bar side. Parked at Ala Moana for $15! Credit card only. Short walk over to The Republik. As you climb up the stairs, you will be met with the foul stench of urine and dirty steps Building maintenance was subpar. I appreciate having venues for concerts. I hope The Republik's owners consider getting a better sound system. Would I go again? Highly doubt it. read more

Especially the reviews about the bathrooms, because I'm someone who is gonna need to use the commode. The Republik is the most consistently awful venues in O'ahu and they don't seem to care about improving, since I've reached out to them multiple times about reoccurring issues with them and nothing has changed at all. Security is awful and only cares about how many people they can kick out. Also, every time I've gone there, security mows down half the crowd while manhandling someone out of the venue. I get it, some people are rowdy, but the last time I went and they did that, they body slammed my female friend and knocked her to the floor and hit me while dragging someone out. Everyone's tired of security acting like they gangstahs and shining their flashlights in our faces as they shove themselves through the crowd. I wish the EDM community here would advocate for themselves and speak up about how shitty the Republik treats its patrons. We deserve way better especially since tickets are $60+. First and last emo nite. Everything was fine up until the mosh pit where I lost my costume props. Tried asking security if they have seen it. When I tried re-entering the venue with my wrist band the security guard was incredibly rude to me at the re-entry door since I've never been there before, I wasn't sure where I was supposed to re-enter and when I asked him for the lost and found box he didn't seem to really care helping me find my missing items and when I tried looking in the lost and found box just to double check, he started insulting me and cursing at me telling me not to to that which I can understand if maybe he had just spoke to me professionally telling me I wasn't allowed to do that. Super unfortunate the Republik seems to get most of the shows worth going to on Oahu because this place is terrible. My most recent shows being Still Woozy and Strfkr the following day. I've been going here for 10 years and it's the same thing every time. To say security is aggressive is an understatement. From the time you walk up the stairs until they're pushing you out of the venue and back down the stairs. You start by getting felt up in line from head to toe because apparently their little fairy wands aren't enough to find what they are looking for. You better not leave a quarter in your pocket or you'll get yelled out for not following orders from the Gestapo. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They oversell the venue so you're packed in there like sardines and security will manhandle their way through the crowd shoving their way through to get to the next victim.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Usually it's just some teenager vaping. Yet they don't mind shoving you and your girlfriend to get to the villainous vaper. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Oh and they have the brightest flashlights made by the sun god Ra himself that will leave you blind for a minute after so enjoy that while trying to watch a show.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There's food available but I'm not about to give them another dollar I don't have too. It's sad because this place could be a lot of fun. They have big names coming in but every time I see it's here I have to really think how bad do I really want to see this artist. But they don't care. Where else are you going to go? Unfortunately this is where the talent is. Security needs to chill. We are here to enjoy our evening. $10 service fee per ticket to pay online. Cash only at box office. No one answering the phone during business hours. Just a scam and shit of a location. Wish artists would quit booking here. Edit: So I changed my rating from 1 star to 4. No doubt this location should work on their daytime business practices but when I got to the event the woman who sold me my tickets remembered me from my multiple visits and personally walked me and my group to the front entrance. She was determined to make the event as positive as possible despite the frustration of purchasing the tickets and for that extra step I'm a born again fan of this place. Go ahead and give it a shot. The staff makes up for the crappy daytime hours and fees. read more

Came here to see Thunder From Down Under on Friday and Sunday. Fantastic venue. Line was long so they opened 2 lines so security could check in people to go on inside quicker. So considerate :). The show was amazing and venue is pretty clean. As for Safehouse, the bar behind the stage. Bartenders are on it, whip out the drinks quickly. This best one is Christian though, very considerate, friendly and professional. I also could tell he was looking out for everyones safety. He also remembered I came on both nights which means a lot when you go to a bar. Thank you for the amazing service and positive attitude. So ask for him everybody. Cheers to Christian! read more

This is an intimate venue. You are right there with the artist on the stage. I saw Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats, along with Tavana. It was epic! There are three bars near the stage and a lounge area in the back, farther from the stage. The bathrooms were clean and well stocked. I would recommend bringing cash for the bar. Card is accepted but cash transactions will go faster. I look forward to attending my next show at The Republik. read more

Came here for the Granger Smith concert with my friend and her 13-year-old son. Surprisingly, minors are allowed as long as they are accompanied by an adult. The venue is located off Kapiolani Blvd, accessed by a ramp or, if you're on foot as we were, two steep flights of stairs. The dark interior was chilled by A/C and a huge ceiling fan that must've spanned 6 feet for each blade. This makes for comfortable temperatures even with the standing room only crowd. Acoustics were kinda muffled because we were surrounded by tall people and a few giants easily over 6'4" which also made viewing the stage hard when you have to keep hopping up and down like a penguin. While the performer was amazing on stage, the venue did have a few hiccups mainly in the amount of beer that never made it to the mouths of the customers and instead sloshed all over the concrete floor. May be okay if you like smelling like eau de Budweiser. Which brings me to another hiccup, concrete floors can only be stood on for, I dunno, five minutes? Try it for 3.5 hours! Even the teenager was begging to leave before the last song was sung! Tickets were $30 plus processing fee. For the price, a good value to see one of country music's distinctive performers! read more

Hm.. never reviewed the Republik. I mean there's nothing too special about it. Two bars, lounge in the back, ok lights and sound. Just kinda a black painted box. It's convenient in its central location. They get decent acts come through. Now and then. Some up and coming artists. So the size of the venue has a nice intimacy to it. I mean it really depends on the performer and the crowd. Some of the drawbacks is it is close to Waikiki, so you can get a touristy crowd. It's usually 18+ so you'll get sometime intoxicated people making a fool of themselves and some times some young over excited Military or frat boys (are there frats around?) just making fools of themselves. They're open till 2 I think so sometimes the main performers go on late like midnight. I saw diplo and pepper there in maybe the last 6 months. Fun shows. Local opening acts. Good ska and stuff. read more
