Secret Spot Honolulu was within a five minute walking distance from the hotel I was staying at. Didn't get a chance to try the breakfast or dinner but I did get to try the latte -- definitely one of the best that I've had. Affordably priced and good latte! Staff were very friendly and kind; lovely experience. Very trendy and chill ambience. Looking forward to trying breakfast next time along with my latte! ***** SECRET SPOT HONOLULU ***** FIVE STARS

Guava waffle

Service was great! No issues there. The ambiance and decor was nice. Food was okay. Not impressed with the avocado toast. Tasted like the avocado was from the Costco spread containers instead of fresh avocados. The guava sauce was yummy, not too sweet. The waffle was just okay, a bit dense for my taste. Not a memorable meal but passes due to location and convenience.

I came to this place for breakfast and also at night for live music and cocktails. Let's start with breakfast, I ordered morning feast which came with salad, eggs, bacon, sausage, toasts and fruit. It tasted healthy but i believe it was a bit overpriced. Service was great and employees are very attentive. They have very cozy interior with small stage. I found out that the have live band at night so I have decided to come back again at night. I ordered old fashioned and it was very good. I also got complimentary popcorn. Music was great, food was good. Will be back.

Came in looking for a cafe offering seating to do some computer work from. Found it, and it also came with friendly service, and a happy hour that starts at noon. Win win win ***Fun fact, they have live music nightly 9pm. What did Eat? Pizza and Tai combo on day 1. The pizza could've had a better bite to the crust. Priced at $12 during happy hour. 3/5 stars Ham and Cheese Croissant with side salad on Day 2. The croissant itself was a little small and on the soft side. Didn't feel very fresh. Edible but could be improved. 3/5 Day 3 and 4 stuck to Happy Hour: Grey Goose and Tonic For $5 a glass, you can't beat that. 5/5 stars Food and Beverage aside, Secret Spot is also home to a great collection of art and collectibles. I'm told that most of what's on display is from the personal collection of one of the owners. Tristan Eaton, OG Slick and Dalek are just a few names a recognize and personally collect. I should also mention, they have shop merch that's fly, not your typical coffee shop merch. Overall for me, Secret Spot felt like a little piece of home away from home. I will definitely be coming back whenever I'm on the island. Shout out to the daytime crew i had the pleasure of meeting. They stay on task but still keep a chill and down to earth vibe. Shout out to Dev and Nessa for the hospitality while i was hanging out. Keep up the good vibes Secret Spot crew! Till next time!

Morning feast with two extra eggs

Not really sure if I would come here again, especially with other options in the area. Food was decent, but not enough to justify the price. First, don't miss the entrance. This is probably why it has its name, but you just need to go up a mini flight of stairs to the right of some escalators. I took the escalators, which goes completely past the floor this place is on, so I ended up taking the elevator back down. Hopefully nobody noticed the unnecessary loop I made. Upon walking in, I was greeted by one of the ladies by the bar, who let me know I could sit anywhere since it was just me. There was some seating I noticed towards the back where it looks like it's meant for live entertainment, but I decided to sit outside at one of the tables up against the sidewalk since it was a nice day. The menu was the design on the table, which I thought was a neat idea, but not really ideal when I have to crank my neck just to see it properly. I had just worked out, so decided to get the Morning Feast over the Avocado Toast since it seemed like more protein, and even added extra eggs despite the price of the add-on. It didn't take very long to come out, but for some reason I was expecting bigger items. The eggs tasted fine, and were cooked exactly as I had asked, over easy. Salad lacked much depth, but the dressing, I think balsamic, did save it a little bit. Sausage was delicious, but I wish there was more that came with the plate. And the toast was just toast. Nothing exciting about it. I used it to clean up the yolk from my eggs to give it some purpose besides just providing carbs. My bill after a 20% tip came out to ~$36.00. For a meal that requires minimal skill to assemble, I thought this was just ridiculous, but makes sense considering it's in the tourist area. Also, it takes a lot for me not to tip 20%, but the service wasn't anything I would consider amazing, especially considering some of the service I've had during my trip. Nonetheless, this place met my minimum requirements. I'm just really having a hard time justifying the price with the food.

Margaritas

Had a great time at Secret Spot! Music, happy hour, and bites with friends makes it the place to be for a vacation. .Guava margaritas were so tasty! .Mai Tais are a must because of course Hawaii Staff is friendly! Restrooms are not inside the place but are just down the hall

Solid happy hour from noon until 7:00. Decent drink specials. Lots of live music. Service is lacking in speed but makes up for it in friendliness. It's odd - to open a tab, they require ID and credit card, which they hold on to. We didn't eat here, but the food looked really good from the tables around us.

Complimentary popcorn snack mix fun people

Fantastic happy hour spot. Great drink and food specials, super friendly service, and they even bring out complimentary popcorn snack mix, which makes it feel extra welcoming right away. It's shady, breezy, and so relaxing... the kind of place you can actually unwind. It's cheaper than shopping and way more fun.

Let me tell you about my experience at this wonderful place!!! We got dropped off by our Uber and right away, the name of the restaurant caught our eye. As soon as we walked in, I instantly fell in love with the vibe. The lighting, the decorations, the bar area... everything was such a whole mood. We were greeted by the bartender, who let us know happy hour was ending in two minutes and we made it just in time! We ordered the $5 mai tais (we got four of them) and the $5 pizza. Such a good deal, especially since the pizza is normally $15. The menu also looked like it had a lot of great options, so I definitely want to come back and try more. What really impressed me was how much there was to look at inside. The merch was gorgeous and the whole place felt like walking through an art museum -- every corner had something unique and fabulous. It's seriously so Instagram-worthy and selfie-worthy. While we were sitting down, one of the associates even stopped by and offered us free popcorn, which was such a sweet touch. I also noticed there were a few three-legged dogs just chilling and vibing together, which was honestly the cutest sight. There's also a nice little area where you can hang out and listen to live music apparently there's a band every night at 9 PM. I'll definitely be back again soon. Happy hour was such a bang for your buck, especially for Waikiki! And to top off the night, right when we got dropped off, a man handed us some leis and told us "God bless," which was such a kind and wholesome way to start the evening. I loved everything about this place and will definitely be back!

$10 breakfast special
Andrea V.

This was definitely a hidden gem. We stumbled upon this place while looking for a breakfast place our kids would enjoy. I saw a sign that said $10 breakfast and I was sold. The host/servers were super friendly and seated us right away. We were surrounded by cool art and a DJ that brought the vibe to another level. The DJ's set was absolutely amazing and he played some good old songs from the early 2000's that took us back. The food came out quick and did not disappoint. Everything was delicious, fresh, and tasted good. The drinks were tasty and had a good amount of alcohol. The prices were very reasonable and my kids loved their food, which was a plus. Overall great place and a must try!

Breakfast special "Morning Feast"
May T.

Came for a quick breakfast. Cute restaurant with nice setup of tables and chairs outside patio area. We ordered their Morning Feast that came with bacon, 2-eggs, sausages, salads, white bread toasted, and orange slices. Not bad of a taste. American breakfast with a cup of Cappuccino in the morning. Good service and friendly waiters. Everything was served warmed and received our order in timely manner. Enjoyable breakfast while watching people go by on the street.

Great HH deals

Literally one of my top spots in Waikiki! They have live music every night. Great happy hour deals for both food and drinks. The tourists and locals love it. You get a great vibe all times of the day here with great friendly aloha service.

Iliana M.

Nothing is topping this happy hour!!! We were walking in the area and came across Secret Spot and decided to check it out and we are so happy we did! $5 Mai Tais?!?! Insane! And they were so good too! Service was quick and easy, plenty of seating, and overall just such good vibes here! I would highly recommend if you're looking for affordable options!

It was our first time dining here last night (7/11) and what a gem of a restaurant! Chris was our…read moreserver and let us know the specials of the day. He described everything with such care that it was hard not to order everything! I'd highly recommend a reservation as there was not an empty table the entire two hours we were there. The restaurant is on the smaller side so it can get quite loud but our table had great conversations and a overall lovely time. Appetizer: We ordered the konpachi hush puppies (apologies, they had a nicer name but this is how they were described to us) and they were delicious! I'm not a lover of fish, but these were so flavorful and the sauce paired perfectly with it. Drinks: I had the meringue di cedri to drink and it was akin to a lemon drop (10/10) it was sippable and lasted my whole meal. Husband had the Hana Koa Rice Breaker, which is one of his favorites as its smooth and pairs well with honestly anything. Entree: You will be missing out if you don't get the lemon risotto. I ordered it with the prosciutto and it may be one of the best meals I've had in Hawaii. The zucchini is done two ways in it: diced to be mixed in with the risotto and thinly sliced and grilled on top of the risotto. The panko crumbs on top really solidified the plate for me as top tier as risotto can get to be boring to eat after a few bites as they can lack texture, but not this risotto! Every bite was a journey and it was a very filling meal. My husband ordered the Korean steak and said it was better than some of the local steakhouses we had gone to. Our friend ordered the spaghetti carbonara and enjoyed it as well. Dessert: We were encouraged to try the Rocky Road ice cream and decided it was a must have when you visit. It was creamy, rich and delectable. We also opted to try the dessert special of the evening which was a Lilikoi cheesecake with a chocolate mousse. The cheesecake had a sour tang to it and the chocolate mousse partner with it to balance it out so it wasn't overly sweet. We loved it and I know in a few days we'll be craving this meal all over again!

France meets Italy - meets Hawaii. I'm still dreaming of this. The burger features a thick, juicy, 8-ounce grass-fed patty made from a custom house-selected blend of short rib, chuck roast, and brisket. Get it with the crispy potatoes. You will thank me. Risotto on point. Luxuriously rich, creamy texture. The rice retains a slight al dente bite in the center, giving it structure rather than letting it become mushy. Prosciutto adds a perfect salty, savory crunch to break up the rich risotto. The only misstep was the fries served with the quinoa burger. They were chalky, served at room temperature, limp, and underseasoned. Excellent friendly informal service. Park at the municipal parking on Bethel St just 1/2 block away. Happy Eating!!

Honey drizzle which wasn't too sweet...or maybe I just ate the parts that didn't have. Baby ate almost 1.5 pieces and even liked the Jalapeno Butter that I just dabbed on her bread. She said wasn't spicy but think she just didn't have enough. - Bone Marrow - lit it on fire to burn off the alcohol. Pretty sure it ddin't get it all so I cut baby off once I realized it. Other than needing some salt, really good. Choke mushrooms on top. One half was scrawny, but hubs had the other half for leftovers and choke marrow. YUM. - Sunchoke and Brussels - YUM. Baby ate some but was not really thrilled about it. I loved it. - Scallop and Mushroom Risotto - YUM. Delish. Baby liked it too. So much leftovers of everything. Realized when we ate it for leftovers it was all pretty oily and needed a pinch of salt. But otherwise great. Staff really nice and helpful. Love that the place is spread out and open. Bathrooms are not assigned which I'm sure can get gross, but is great to not have to wait for just the women's. There is a big stall which was perf since baby is potty training and had to go #1 and #2! Only thing missing was a hook to hang my purse and her bag. The smoked octopus was sliced in pieces that were too thick and a little too chewy and the andouille sausage and black pepper overpowered the dish. Ordered the bourbon and bone marrow mostly for the presentation. It was WAAAY too rich and needed more bread to go with it. They should've served it with bread that wasn't buttered because the buttered bread even though tasty by itself was just too rich in combination with all of that bone marrow. The dish needed more balance. The ice cream sundae was unremarkable. Would have preferred it served with a choice of hot fudge or the caramel drizzle and since it was plain vanilla ice cream they could've drizzled a lot more caramel over it. The waitress did bring us more nuts when we asked, but they were busy at the time and she was the only server so it took her a while to get to us, and the ice cream was pretty melted by the time she delivered. We got there when they opened at 5 PM and they had two servers at that time. The place wasn't busy so it seemed like they had enough help for the amount of tables that were being seated. An hour and a half later, though, one server was missing (possibly taking a lunch break) and the only server remaining at several big parties to take care of which slowed down her responsiveness to the other smaller tables like ours. The music playing in the background seemed to fit the environment and was pleasant to listen to. It's a pretty casual atmosphere. The prices for what you get are a bit on the high end. Probably wouldn't go back unless someone else is paying. We didn't feel too bad this time because we had a gift certificate which covered most of our bill. Maybe we were choosing all the wrong items and should have just stuck to ordering meat dishes, which they might be better at making (with a name like Livestock). You'll have to check this place out yourself and see if they do a better job with meat and if the prices for those dishes are more reasonable. I gave this place four stars instead of three because the servers were friendly, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the food was mostly okay (tasty enough and filling).

If "smell‑a‑vision" or "lick‑your‑screen" technology existed, everyone would understand exactly what I mean. Every dish was full of flavor, beautifully done, and perfect for a Mother's Day treat. Which is why I can't help but wonder what happened -- like so many restaurants before them in that same location. With food that good, you'd hope they'd be the ones to break the cycle. All in all, I'm grateful I got to enjoy that meal with my daughter. It was memorable, delicious, and one of those small moments you hold onto. Marie

Stopped by Scratch Kitchen in Honolulu for brunch, and honestly, I'm surprised it wasn't packed. We…read morewent mid-morning on a weekday and the place was nearly empty--not sure if it was just good timing or an underrated gem. Either way, it made for a super relaxed experience with no wait and plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the food. Loved: The street tacos with the tempura shrimp were easily the star of the meal. 100% worth it. Light, crispy shrimp with a flavorful slaw and just the right amount of heat--basically a flavor party in every bite. The burger was another quiet star. Juicy patties, nicely seasoned, and stacked just right. Nothing super flashy, but really satisfying. Definitely a good pick if you're not in the mood for brunchy stuff. The Miss: Tried the French toast and... meh. It looked great on the plate but tasted dry and definitely didn't live up to the level of the other dishes. Might've just been an off day or a matter of personal taste, but I'd skip it next time.

We went for breakfast:…read morethe pancakes were good, but the American Breakfast wasn't, and the potatoes were undercooked with a flavor that was almost too earthy. The pastries were just okay; we tried a few cake slices that were fine but unremarkable. The cinnamon roll was dry and hard, the malasadas were forgettable, and the haupia-filled malasada was surprisingly tart. It's possible some ingredients were locally sourced and just unfamiliar to our mainland palates, or maybe we simply caught them on an off day. The servers were curt but friendly, likely because the place was packed with tourists.

It was so sad this business is closing down by Oct 31st. With rising food costs, inflation and…read morestaffing, it's understandable but I wish best endeavors for Chef Jason Peel and his staff. My fiance won a gift card actually 2 of them (from his coworker whom could not get a reservation secured), we knew we had to make the trip over before they officially close. We had multiple dishes, but staff made Kauai prawns and tomato miso black cod dishes on the house since they ran out the Hokkaido scallops. We ordered the short ribs, lobster appetizer, hamachi crudo and lastly sashimi moriawase to finish food palate. Lukki lemon dessert was great way to end to night. Ordered the Milk tea bouquet cocktail while my better half had water ( either way the food coma knock him out cold the rest of the night lol). To be honest, it was difficult to determine which dish was the best because the staff kept quality there despite it being busy every night since they announce the closure. Sashimi moriawase, fish was so fresh, reminded me of my time spent in Hokkaido and Sapporo. Short ribs was soft and rich in flavor. Both me and my fiance liked the lukki lemon dessert, like lemon meringue pie but broken down version. If you have a chance to dine here before closing and got a reservation, definitely will have a lovely dining experience and your stomach will be full by end of the night.

We had leftovers for breakfast the next day! - For appetizers we got: Ulu Tots, Japanese Eggplant, and Corn Beignets. The Corn Beignets was the best. - For entree we got: Tomato Miso Black Cod and the Short Rib. Both were delicious and worth a try. Sad to see that this restaurant appears to be closing.
