    Butters (formerly Edgar)

Adoption process was quick and I'm so happy to be able to give this little guy a good furrever home. Like other reviewers mentioned, there were some parts of the interview where it seemed like they were trying to bait me into saying the wrong thing. While I know their intentions were coming from genuine care for his wellbeing, it was quite off putting. At any rate, I was willing to overlook this as I felt Butters (fmly Edgar) would be a great fit for my sweet 6 year old, Tormund. It's only been a few weeks and I'm happy to report they're getting along well.

We were able to adopt our sweet Raisin! Process was prompt upon submitting the application and we received a lot of helpful information throughout.

I had a wonderful experience adopting my sweet Moon from Rescue House. The application was very straightforward, and that paired with the phone interview shows how deeply they care for the kitties and want to make sure they get the perfect home. I had found Moon, then named Victoria, on AdoptAPet.com, and they had a thorough story about her background and personality, which was one of my favorite parts when looking for my first cat. Once I was ready to set up a meet and greet I was contacted via text (which was very convenient) by Carol, and we found the perfect time. When I got there, I immediately fell in love with Moon and got positive feedback from Carol and another volunteer that she was a good fit. After completing the paperwork she walked me through the store to get the rest of what I needed (mainly the food she was eating and some toys), got Moon the carrier, and off we went. Carol stayed in contact with me answering any questions over text, and I happily provided pictures in return which were forwarded to Moon's foster family (I was informed the organization is entirely volunteer-run, so they just ask for pictures of the kitties happy in their new home). I would 10/10 recommend them as a caring, helpful, and thoughtful rescue agency to adopt your next kitty!

Update for my review on 4/25/2023 - Decided to check out the Oceanside Humane Society for an available kitten. What an amazing positive experience unlike what I experienced at the Rescue House which was nothing short of terrible. We were able to adopt a lovely 8 week old kitten which has become a wonderful addition to our family. If you do decide to check out the Oceanside Humane Society be sure to ask for Taylor. Friendly & personable and made the adoption process seamless.

You can tell by how the puppies/dogs respond around her. She is a very honest, sweet, informative doggy foster mom. She provided information from toys, food & extensive doggy tips. She is always responsive by phone and text. Even when I text her late at night, she is always responding! Before the actual adopting day, she would send you pictures of your puppy to keep you updated. Truthfully, she and how Art and paw animal rescue is ran, should be an example of how all the animal rescues should be. I adopted my puppy from a group of 9 puppies and she knew everything about each and every single one of them. One thing I appreciate about her is, she doesn't get motivated by money but rather she truly cares for the dogs and want them to find the perfect home. She really takes the time to find the perfect home for each dog! You will not regret adopting! Also her company is ran from donations so please head onto the website and donate (: Thank you Liraz for the amazing experience.

On last Saturday, we went to Petsmart to get some dog food and cat food. My wife found this lovely dog that she would not leave without her. Art and Paws Animal Rescue went through all the questions about our living environment to make sure the dog was going to a right place, made sure that we were committed, not compulsive and showed us the papers with medical history and everything. Lulu is so happy being with other brothers and a sister and fit right in without hesitation. There are some dog rescues that only concentrate on making dogs adopted but Art and Paws Rescue really care for the dogs and we felt the right thing as dog owners. I already sent them thank you email plus lots of pictures ans will follow up with them continuously. Great job "Art & Paws Animal Rescue" and thank you for letting us having Lulu.

Fast forward to 2024, I entertained the idea of somehow welcoming a dog back into my life...I wasn't sure how, but I wanted to get back into the doggy world...and that's when I discovered all different opportunities at the SDCAS.... 1. Dog Day Out- this is a fantastic program to take approved dogs out for the day and market them to the world as being available for adoption. These dogs are sweet, friendly, non-reactive, and just love being out of the shelter. SDCAS gives you everything you need for the day. Our first experience was with Sal- a super friendly pitbull. He loved getting out and proudly wore his 'adopt me' vest! Our second Dog Day Out was with Zane- a beautiful, sweet rottie/husky mix. While we were out with Zane, we decided to foster him. Speaking of fostering.... 2. Foster- if you've ever wanted to foster a dog, this is the place to do it. They provide everything you could possible need. This is a great way to learn more about a dog, post pictures and tidbits about the dog on their website so others learn about them and hopefully adopt them. Fostering saves lives! 3. Adopt- We were a foster fail after a week with Zane. We got to know him SO much and he is absolutely perfect for our family. We wouldn't have known this unless we fostered... Highly recommend SDCAS! 5 stars!

This includes orthopedic surgery, dentistry, ultrasound, laser therapy, preventative medicine, digital radiology, diagnostic internal medicine and routine care. My dog developed a skin growth on the outside of his leg that needed surgery. Initially I figured this was an easy fix. Just schedule the procedure then take my sweet boy home. Not so much, unless money is no object for you. The quote I received (from my local vet) shocked me. No way could I afford this. So began my exhaustive search. After many weeks I found Companion Animal Hospital. When I called them to ask for a quote they couldn't have been nicer and more helpful. Immediately they thought their price would be competitive however they needed to see my dog in person to verify. Upon arriving the receptionist and technician were very friendly and knowledgeable about dogs. I could tell every employee was genuinely an animal person. We went into a room right away and the appointment went really well. Both my dog Bear and myself genuinely liked Dr Garvey which in my book is a huge deal. Since my dog suffers from anxiety at the vet. She was very informative about answering all my questions and explaining what needed to be done. After the appointment I received a quote for the needed surgery and was completely relieved to see the price was four times less than the original quote at the other vet. So needless to say my dog received his surgery here, was in and out the same day with no problems or complications. His growth was benign so no worries about cancer, hallelujah. We returned a few weeks later for his suture removal. This was very quick and my dog was rewarded with the removal of the dreaded cone. I can't say enough good things about all of the staff here and Dr. Garvey. Thank you for saving my dog because essentially that is what happened. It may not have been life threatening at the time, however if I hadn't found you all then his growth would have kept getting worse. Potentially turning into a life threatening situation. I'm very thankful to everyone at Companion Animal Hospital and will sing your praises to everyone I know.

He was taken to the back for about 20 minutes, and when the staff returned, they told us they couldn't trim his nails because he was "being difficult" and "trying to bite." This was completely out of character for him. He could be stubborn, but he was a gentle, loving dog. When we brought him home, I noticed he was wheezing, but at the time I didn't think much of it. Within a few days, we were rushing him to urgent care at 1 a.m. in Poway because he was gasping for air, his tongue turning blue. I truly thought he was going to die in my arms on that terrifying drive. The vet told use his throat was very irritated, He was diagnosed with tracheal collapse - an injury we could do nothing to reverse. He suffered for the last month of his life before he ultimately passed away. This was the direct result of whatever happened in that back room, while he was in their care. The negligence that took place in that back room caused permanent damage and cost our dog his life. We are devastated. Please think very carefully before trusting this place with your pet.

You walk in and use hand sanitizers and get the instructions. If you're not a member you can handle the birds directly. You get a bowl of food and later can circle back to feed the fish. The bowls had a mixtures of fruits and vegetables. The ones in the cages they tell you not to take out. Why? Don't know. Flight risk?
