Cute intimate sanctuary. - yes they do have a bathroom you can use in the back shed - this concerned me since so many reviews mentioned that the didn't and I have the worlds smallest bladder - gives as much food as you want to feed the birds and fish. most of them are pretty full already (we came late morning) so will either squawk at you or ignore you. They're cute though! Some can talk and dance with you Staff is very knowledgeable, great with kids (I have a 6 year old kid on the spectrum who responded well with the birds and staff) Only biggest and only con of this place is the parking. There's probably maybe less than 10 parking spots in a very narrow alleyway.

A nice sanctuary that take cares of birds that owners no longer can care for. Some of the birds are available for adoption. You can make a reservation online at their website. It is $10 in advance or $15 for same day reservation. They have a few dedicated parking spots. You have 20 minutes with the birds but they allowed us to stay longer since it wasn't as busy. The worker who helped us was the best! He showed us videos of the birds doing tricks, answered any questions we had, explained each of the birds name, history, and personality, and occasionally bring out the birds closer for us to look at. How it works: - Ring the bell at the entrance - Shoes and hands must be disinfected before you are able to see the birds. They have a pad you step on to clean your shoe and hand sanitizer for your hands - A metal bowl with food inside is given to you - Touching, grabbing, or petting the birds is not allowed - Hold your bowl close to the birds. They will start grabbing food. If they're not hungry, they will either ignore you or bite the bowl. - The birds are allowed to climb on your bowl - Birds in cage can also be fed and brought out if there is no lock hanging on their cage - You are also given a bowl of food for the koi fish at the end

If you like birds, you will LOVE this sanctuary. I took my sister-in-law and her family here because she is an animal lover, but her love for birds is especially deep. You need a reservation ahead of time and it $8 per person (if you're not a member). You can pay online on their website and reserve a day and time slot that works for you. Upon arrival you will be asked if you have a reservation. All attendees in your group must be present for entry. Then you are instructed to clean your shoes (close toed shoes recommended) and there is hand sanitizer available. The employees give you a bowl with food to feed the bird along with important detailed instructions. There's also a beautiful koi pond and so many plants. It's quite peaceful. But don't let these beautiful furry friends fool you. A lot of them are LOUD and have so much personality. Overall we had a great experience - hence my five star rating. The employees and members were friendly and I learned a lot!! I'd totally come back. There's plenty of parking, but I can see it getting packed on weekends.

I was looking for activities to do in the area and came across Free Flight. After doing some quick research, it seemed like a fun idea so I scheduled a visit. I was definitely pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed it! - PARKING - There are a few dedicated spots right outside the enclosure. Be mindful of any signs that dictate if they're saved for different businesses. - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - It was easy to schedule and pay in advance through their online portal. Adults are $8 each. When we arrived, the gate is locked so a worker comes to check you in. After you go in, they'll sanitize your hands and make you scrub your shoes. A staff member will walk you through general rules, how to feed the birds, and some fun quirks a few of them have. Only members are allowed to hold the birds, but I was glad we could still feed them! - EXPERIENCE - Although it's not a huge space, I was definitely shocked at how many birds were just out and about! They do have a few that are in cages - the ones with locks you're not allowed to open, but otherwise you can try and feed the birds in unlocked cages. Some will also hop onto your food bowl! The staff came around and told us a few facts, and showed us a few tricks the birds could do. We kept walking around in circles to greet and interact with the birds, and ended up staying for about 45 minutes. We were also allowed to feed the koi fish! - OVERALL - A great sanctuary where you can tell the staff cares for all the birds. A fun experience for a low price, but you can also donate more!

This place is amazing! I have gone 3 times now. The volunteers are very nice and friendly. It's just a different experience then anything I have ever done. It's only $8 to enter and I think that's a fair price for the experience. We typically spend about 45 min to an hour each time we go. I can't wait to go back!

Showed up at 3:20 and drove an hour in traffic to come see the birds with my kids and was turned away by a very rude/ sarcastic worker even though they close at 4:00. Very disappointed in the staff who could have accommodated my family and didn't.

Had an amazing experience!! This was my first time back since 2019 and I wanted to take my boyfriend here since I had such a good experience a couple years ago. I didn't get the persons name with the purple hair, but she was absolutely amazing and was very inviting. this is a very good place to take kids and very interactive with the birds. If you're planning on coming here I would 100% recommend it it's a good place to support.

The area is teeming with not only healthy animals but also amazing flora and landscaping. Aside from the printed signage to learn about the animals, there are volunteers in red shirts to teach / answer questions. To say the zoo has a lot of animals is an understatement-- from polar bears to giraffes, Komodo dragons, koalas, and countless species of monkeys, I can't fathom how much science it takes to feed and care for them all! The SD zoo is also one of the only places you can spot pandas and a platypus! The queue for the giant and red pandas but shorten significantly in waves (we didn't even wait). The platypus was a lot tinier than I imagined and very elusive, but it was still pretty neat to spot it for 2 seconds as it zoomed by. Loved how you could bring your own snacks/food and drinks into the zoo and sit in any of their eateries for a break. There were plenty of well-kept restrooms around the premises. Come early to snag a parking spot and avoid the traffic! (P.S. There is actually a SD Zoo Safari Park further north with a different experience! Check it out :D)

We like sitting in the front row, and we're supposed to board. HOWEVER, they forgot the priority group, UNFORTUNATELY!!! We had to wait for the next bus. ONCE ON, and going, we saw TIGERS, HIPPOS, LIONS, BIRDS, ELEPHANTS, AND CONDORS. When we got off, we went to the Giraffes. We heard that one of them was celebrating a BIRTHDAY. We were also told about feeding them today, AND I DID THAT FOR ONLY $8.00!!! It was then off to the Koalas, and then to the BABY BABBON. We then stumbled upon something really rather beautiful in AFRICA ROCKS, the Bird Cage large enough for paths of people to walk through on two different levels. NEARBY, tucked away in the trees, A JAGUAR, of all things!!! We were lucky to get to see Penguins being fed by a trainer. It was fun to see the it done IN LIVING COLOR. OBVIOUSLY, they, the penguins were hungry. FINALLY, we rode the SKYRIDE, rt. REALLY, REALLY FUN. SEEING EVERYTHING from above, including the Pandora Bears. We LOVED EVERYTHING!!!

Bring a stroller or a wagon for young kids as it'll be a lot to carry them if you don't. Another pro tip is that if you have a few days, you can easily spend two, maybe three days here at this Safari park if your kids love to just look at the animals and/or engage the volunteer park service members with questions. They are ready to answer and engage your kids! Fantastic. When: we went twice at the end of June, once a Sunday and on a Tuesday. Experience: due to the June gloom, weather was nice and very tolerable compared to the usual summer heat. It was mostly in the low 70s to maybe mid 80s by the end of the day. So not bad for this time of the year, though a usual one. Because of this nice weather, we were able to just stay at the Safari park for the whole day or most families with kids would leave by lunch or after lunch when the mid day heat would have turned them out of the park. Pro tip: start with the Africa Tram upon arrival. You gotta make your way towards the end of the park so to get in line as the line only gets longer by the minute. It's a 25 mins loop but what an amazing experience of the African Savannah with all the wildlife minus predators. Start early as wildlife is most active when it's cool and morning, since the day heat would gradually begin to turn them towards tree shades and being less active. Both days we went on the tram, once at 11 and the second time at 9. Be strategic with what you will cover due to the size of the safari park. Determine it by location so you're not doubling your walk - of course unless you're trying to get more steps. For family with kids who love zoos and animals, and you're planning to go to the safari park or SD zoo for at least 3 times altogether, get a membership! It pays off with three visits for a family of 4. Some membership levels have perks such as PRIORITY boarding at Africa Tram (allowed us to bypass a 90 minutes line on Sunday and a 45 minutes line on Tuesday) and the priority boarding applies to the guided tour bus at SD zoo. At Safari park, you also get preferred parking for free! For family of four with two adult guests on a day, we got the wildlife champion membership and the wildlife explorer for the kids. This gave us access to all the perks and fully utilized the membership. And since we're planning to go again before membership expires, this is the best way to go to both Safari park and zoo! Weekends is busier and all stores and cafes are open, but weekdays with less visitors have some stores and cafes open on limited hours which is fair. It gives you different experiences between the two.

We are traveling with friends, one is having knee replacement surgery in 6 weeks and cannot walk far. The park professes to be disability accessible. They are not. At the gate before purchasing $156.00 tickets (per couple) we specifically asked if there was much walking, that neither one of us were able to walk far. We were specifically told that as soon as we entered the park there was a shuttle available to take us about. That was not/is not true. Furthermore, we were treated rudely when asked for assistance to the shuttles. Not until after paying admission and entering the park did we realize the shortest distance of walking was a block and more. It was exhausting and with the heat this day, it was dangerous. The employee who misrepresented distances should be dismissed and the park should remove their disability claim. We entered the park at noon and it was 2PM before we were able to reach the park safari shuttle. One other concern. When on the tour shuttle we were constantly lectured about our lack of care and concern for the environment, animals and conservation. The narrative was off putting and insulting. I do not recommend this park for anyone. It is expensive, there are not a lot of animals, the bathrooms are filthy, and some of the employees are rude and untrained.

We spend our visits surrounded by the most amazing animals, each with their own story and personality. The people who care for them are just as special -- kind, genuine, and truly devoted to every creature on the farm. They always greet us by name, take time to chat, and make our son feel like part of their family. He loves to feed the sheep, who are so patient and gentle with him. I love learning each animal's name and backstory -- it makes every visit feel personal and deeply grounding. If you ever feel weighed down by the world, this is the place to go. It's impossible to leave without feeling lighter, calmer, and a little more connected to what really matters. And as a bonus -- they grow the most delicious fruits and vegetables right there on the farm, fresh from the earth that gives this place so much life. With your zoo "ticket" you get 2 free samples of their chocolates and a hefty bag of feed for the animals. The animals are mostly in their own pens, with some together. There's even a couple of the pigs you'll find out of pens, just hanging out on the property, laying beside the building. It was one of the most beautiful venues we toured, though there were some limitations regarding event spaces and accessibility. There were two primary areas capable of accommodating our guest count of 150: the Lawn Garden and the Dickinson Family Education Conservatory. I preferred the ceremony setup at the Conservatory, while the Lawn Garden offered a more appealing space for cocktail hour. However, the Lawn Garden is entirely outdoors, so couples should have a weather contingency plan. The amphitheater adjacent to the Conservatory felt relatively plain and undersized compared to the lush surroundings. Both venues were conveniently located near parking lots and restrooms, though the restrooms themselves resembled standard public facilities. The garden grounds were expansive and quite hilly. The Lawn Garden parking area required navigating a significant incline that could be difficult for some guests. While a shuttle service exists, we were informed it is volunteer operated and unavailable for private events. Venue rentals included ceremony chairs and cocktail hour belly bar tables. Most other services and rentals must be booked through approved vendors. During our tour, we explored many of the garden's attractions and found it to be highly family friendly, though less accommodating for elderly guests or those with mobility concerns. Children would love the children's garden, streams, and treehouse areas. Meanwhile, sections such as the Rainforest Garden and New Zealand Garden featured steep pathways that may be challenging to navigate. My favorite areas were the Walled Garden and the dancing topiaries, where flowers were sculpted into whimsical musicians and dancers. We also attended the Orchid Showcase inside the Conservatory, which featured an impressive collection of orchids. The volunteers were exceptionally knowledgeable and eager to share information beyond what was available on the website, adding a great deal to the experience. The gift shop was an underrated highlight. I picked up a pressed flower magnet where each one featured a unique arrangement. Ultimately, the venue felt a bit too small for our wedding, but it remained one of our top contenders. For couples who value greenery and natural beauty, this would be an incredible choice for a smaller guest count. Just be aware that much of the planning, design, and personalization will fall on the couple.
