Wow. I made my reservation through a travel agency, so I never saw the reviews here before I got to the ship. I will admit, I would have paused quite a bit if I had read the reviews first! However, I did not regret my trip at all. We had the 9am, 4-hour fishing trip on a Monday. Now, if you are expecting a white-glove service with individual attention from crew members and your own personal fishing chair so you can fish off the rear of the boat and have someone else dive under the boat and hook a giant fish on your line so you can have a great picture with you and a huge fish, this is not the trip for you! However, I'm guessing that trip will cost quite a bit more than this one. On the other hand, if you want to get out in the open air and get some fishing in with 30 of your newest friends and perhaps get some fish guts on your shoes, this might be the trip for you. Yes, there were 33 of us fishing on this boat and 3 crew. So you don't get individual attention, but for our trip, they did their best to get to everyone as quickly as they could. The captain moved the ship a number of times to try and find some fish. I think we caught about 6 or 7 fish total, but it wasn't due to lack of trying. This was a nice trip and a good value, I think, but it IS a fishing boat and not a deluxe high-dollar white glove yacht! read more

Giving a review for Tuesday July 29th for the 1:45 trip... Website is EXTREMELY inaccurate... the boat looks nothing like the photo, if that's why you chose... you will be HIGHLY disappointed. They sell you "ALL DAY live bait" that they only use for about 30 mins then it's all dead and cut bait... SCAM The crew is pretty rude... they seem to cater to the Hispanic/Latino population and ignore the white or Americans... We paid right at $400 for a family of 4... NONE of us caught anything... wasted money... got ripped off for "live bait" some boats go out of their way to make sure you get your moneys worth... not this one... they just put it in their pocket. The WORST charter I have been on. Unprofessional. Unaccommodating. Lack effort to put customers on fish. 25 people on the boat 3 fish caught, Two of the fish were caught by the crew who were using their specific bait and hogging the Back of the boat. DONT bring your own gear, they'll look at like you're stupid. They DO NOT allow braided line apparently. The gear that they supply are extremely outdated, VINTAGE in the worse way. They do NOT supply terminal tackle (even though the site said they do). Minimal education, announcements, information provided during the trip. Depth and current is unknown, fishing species is unknown, fishing method is unknown, the only direction that were given were "lines up" PERIOD. After reading the reviews we were a little nervous, but we had such a great time! Crew was very nice and helpful, we got to feed a pelican and tried a few different fishing spots. We didn't take off right at 9, but the captain gave us the extra time on the water that we would have missed. View was beautiful and my boyfriend and I had a blast! Reward Fishing Review - 5/13/2023 Picture yourself fishing off the back of a mechanical bull surrounded by 32 passengers choking up their insides as they hurl up their breakfast... if that's what you call a rewarding experience, the Reward charter's right for you. What was expected to be a peaceful fishing experience full of tight lines & good times turned out to be a horror story I'll pass off to generations. They left out the most important disclaimer: "be advised, this 80 year old piece of sheet dinosaur of a boat captained by a crew who just graduated boater safety will now be entering 12 foot seas, please have your effects in order before entering this vessel". I sheet you not, it would have been a smoother sail riding on the back of Moby Dick himself. Don't get me started on the bathroom facilities. By facilities I mean a broken sink with no running water and a toilet containing 64 layers of sheet, pee and puke that won't flush. Since we caught no fish, it would've been a better idea using the chum buckets for 4 hours. On the bright side the crew was fantastic. They're so ambitious that instead of waiting to clean the boat at the dock they crammed all of us to one side and started to pressure wash while we were on our way back to port. My favorite part was when one of them sprayed me with the fish gut water, that was so refreshing. By the end of it, I was on my knees praying that the unsecured gaff wobbling back and forth would strike me between the eyes to put me out of my misery. With such bad conditions and half the boat holding on for dear life hoping they make it back to shore, I figured the captain would cancel the immediate next charter.... ha fat chance! As I limped off the boat, I pleaded with the next charter guests to save themselves but the captain proceeded to load them onto the boat. It was like sending soldiers towards the beach on D-day knowing half of them won't make it home. I forgot to mention, only one fish was caught across the whole boat in 4 hours. Instead of logically trying a new spot after no success, the crew forced us into accepting out fate of failure. I have been on many party boats. I realize that you're going with a group of others, but this was by far the worst experience ever. From the get go, the website is completely outdated with parking instructions that state $5 instead of $30. There were 30 people on the boat. I called the evening before and was told only 7 people had signed up! 30 people is not so bad except when the boat is drifting and everyone is told to be on one side of the boat to avoid tangles. Basically each line was 3 feet apart. When one person caught a fish, there were at least seven lines that were tangled. Many of our lines were then cut to right the mess! One person in our party paid an extra $10 for live bait. He let down his reel 3 times in the entire time fishing. When I wanted to check whether my bait was still there, I was told not to reel it in unless I feel a bite as it would cause a tangle. When I finally reeled it in, there was no bait! The first mate was not customer service oriented, nor did she even try to be courteous. You leave the boat feeling like you've wasted not only your money, but four hours of your day. The ONLY redeeming thing was a pod of dolphins that we saw swimming alongside our boat. So exciting that the captain left his station while the boat was in motion and came down to video the dolphins and said that he had put the boat on auto-pilot. I've never had a captain do that ever!!! If one is considering doing something fun, save your money and do something else. read more

Called twice and got a machine. Left message. A lady called and said a group rented and I should check spam. BS. No spam email. No email at all. They refunded my money. I guess my first lessson with fishing in Florida is don't go to Reward Fleet their lack of caring is ridiculous!! So bought a groupon for a fishing trip with my dad. We went out today during the 0am to 1pm schedule. The crew was very welcoming and friendly. For someone who has never had interest in fishing, I had a great time hanging on the boat. They had beverages like water, beer and Gatorade to that was convenient. But you can also bring your own. I had a really good time and was even able to bring my 4 year old for free. She got seasick but I figure this will only make her a stronger boat chick lol. The place is located right downtown at Bayside with a dock at the end right near Victoria secret so very easy to find and there is parking on the street or in the garage. My dad had a blast and we will surely be back. The only thing is we didn't catch any fish but two others caught snappers. Right when we were leaving the weather was really nice and the water was a lot calmer so the captain suspected the next group might be a bit more lucky so I believe mid day or bight might be a Breyer option: nonetheless we had fun :-) read more

I go on many fishing party boats in California, Boston, Hawaii, because I've found them fun and I enjoy fishing. I wouldn't take the time to write this unless it was important. This was the worst experience that I've had on any party boat. I know people say that it's called fishing and not catching, but this was called "unacceptable tangling". Here are the issues. The website or information needs to be updated. Parking costs $30 and not $5. I called the night before to find accurate fish counts and they didn't know the answer. I also asked Vicky how many were signed up for the trip before committing to a packed boat. I was told 7 had signed up. There were 31 plus 5 kids. I don't think that many people made reservations after 7.00pm the night before! If the boat is going to drift, there needs to be less people on the boat since everyone is made to fish on one side of the boat. There were 31 fisherpeople and if the boat is 70 feet long that means that each rod would be 2.25 feet apart IF each person had ONE rod. My friend asked the deckhand how many rods each person was allowed. She curtly said only one because can't we see how many people were on the boat. Eventhough her response was not very polite, she allowed a "regularl" to have several of his own rods with him and fishing with multiple rods at a time. She even told him when the boat was departing that he needed to reel up all his rods which meant she knew that he was fishing with multiple rods,further exacerbating the high number of lines on one side of the boat! I was using "dead" bait. I only got to send down the bait 4 times during our morning trip. My friend who had live bait, got to release his bait 3 times, basically once at each location. I spent 15 minutes waiting for the deckhand to come rig my line after it got tangled with at least 12 other lines and the only solution was to cut everyone's line that was in the tangle. Rather than explain to the first-times what to do to rectify the situation, she raised her hands and said "I cannot do anything unless you bring me your line!" What does that mean to a newbie? I then had to explain to the people fishing next to me what they needed to do. I wanted to re-rig my own line to help the deckhand. She responded very rudely that I just needed to be patient and wait my turn! There are some people who are experienced and can baiti and re-rig themselves. They shouldn't have to wait for 15-20 minutes to have only 2 deckhands handle the boat. During one release, I wanted to check my bait, the other deckhand told me not to reel it up since it would create a tangle. I was only allowed to reel it in if there was a fish on. Seriously?! Needless to say, when I eventually reeled it in, there was no bait at the end of the line. The only highlight was a pod of dolphins swimming next to the boat at which point, the Captain left his post and was on the main deck taking a video of the dolphins. This is the first time I've had a captain leave his post to video some swimming dolphins, eventhough as he claimed, it was on autopilot. Perhaps he should have been paying more attention to finding fish on the radar rather than putting the boat on autopilot and recording dolphins? I have enclosed some pictures of what the experience was like. It wasn't just the horrible fishing experience, but it was the rude service that made the morning very unenjoyable. There have been many times that I've not caught fish on a fishing head boat, but the experience was part of the fun. I cannot say that about this trip. read more

Read a lot of bad reviews about this charter prior to booking, but decided that for the price ($55 each) it was worth the risk. Unfortunately the bad reviews were incredibly accurate, all 20-25 of us were crammed to one side of the boat, spaced about a foot apart from one another so when we dropped our lines the currents caused them all to tangle (any experienced fisherman would know this would happen but the captain continued to assure us this was "very strange") When we asked to spread out more the deckhand rudely suggested that if we wanted to avoid tangles we should buy our own boat. Very few fish were caught by anyone on the trip. I don't feel ripped off, as I didn't expect big things from such an affordable trip, but wouldn't advise anyone serious about catching fish to book this charter. read more

We are in from Ohio looking for a fun family outing. We called a few days ahead and talked to Vicki. She was very helpful and pleasant to talk to. The crew was great. Very patient and helped a ton. But that's we're the good service ended. The Captain was pleasant up until he took my credit card info. This guy can can use some people skills. He talked down to many of the guests. It took some of the fun out of the trip. In regards to the actual fishing, The entire boat (maybe 30 people) probably caught about a dozen fish. What a let down. The day was full of sharks... three stars because no one really caught any fish and I get how you can never predict but we spent an hour heading out and then the Captian wanted to catch a shark so we followed a shark for a while... All I can say is that this is a tourist trap. The fish were not biting and the Captain refused to move the boat after he was asked. The cabin of the ship was dirty and they had sold out of everything except some drinks. They provide us with the crap bait while the Captain and his buddies fished with shrimp and caught some fish. We came from Texas and found Reward fishing by luck on google. My son LOVES to fish and for his 6th birthday we went fishing with them. It was his first time fishing in the ocean so it was a big deal for us. They gave him an experience he is going to remember for the rest of his life. With any fishing, there's never a guarantee you will catch something. It's just the nature of the game. He ended up catching some incredible fish and they made it so special for him. This is a normal fishing party boat. The problem I happened to encounter was in my booking and icy reception. We were 4 adults (I live in Miami and the others live elsewhere in Florida) who are not new to fishing and party boats and how to charter. So, we're not dumbstruck tourists who are enamored with the novelty of possibly catching a fish in Miami. No biggie. I booked by phone using a Groupon for 4 adults. The woman who answers the phone is salty as hell. She made it clear that she only accepts a few Groupon Reservations per charter and that there was only room for two more Groupons (we were 4). So, I didn't argue or fuss. I accepted that we may not be able to all of our Groupons. Fair enough. But then she said, "Oh...I guess I will let you on with the Groupons." Thank you? I mean...they're a business. Not a charity. I didn't ask for charity. They could have stuck firm to their Groupon limit. I didn't ask for a break. But they gave it. Cool. The problem started when we showed up for the charter. Another salty woman (maybe the same salty woman??!!!). Could there be TWO rude hosts?). The deck crew lady said: You're not on list. Bottom line: Whoever took my reservation on phone booked my reservation for 2 days later than for the day I requested. So salty woman deck crew #2 repeated no less than 4 times (in loud earshot) that we are not on the reservation list and begrudgingly allowed us to board. Whatever - it was their fault for mis-booking us. So, thank you for your "willingness" to have us for the exact date and time for which I originally booked. Well, there were 31 fisher people in the boat (including us) and it we were all forced to stay on and fish from only the right side of the boat. It was WAY TOO crowded. And the salty deck hand went around stressing out and complaining out loud "This is not good." Inevitably, fishing lines tangled. People throwing up to the left and right due to sea sickness. And of the 31 people on board: 1 average-size fish caught at the last stop. 4 hours and 1 fish caught, entirely. While I accept no one can control bite, there are some known, reliable sites that can deliver above-average tugs. Nothing. All. Day. Long. Nothing. So, Ok. I get it. I accept it. No bites. That's the gamble. But it's the argumentative and gruff stance of the salty lady or ladies that was off putting. The Captain was cool and chill. So...my final suggestion: If the service was kind, welcoming, relaxed, or anything resembling 'customer appreciative' then this review would have been better. But it's not. Pass. read more

We have gone in the Reward 10 times in the last 9 months. IMPERSONAL: After 10 times and we still get treated like sheep and no one recognizes us. BAIT: The Fishing crew will catch live bait that they will use to catch their own fish. You are given dead and old fish. PEOPLE: Prepare to scramble with up to 25 people. Lines get tangled all the time. CREW: Prepared to be treated like you are an idiot. They will make sure of that. The only crew member that deserves an A+: Avery. My husband and I went on this boat with six friends. We had a couple of line-tangling adventures, but overall it was fun. However, nobody in my group caught a fish. I know that there's a lot of skill and luck involved, so this isn't the reason why I'm rating down this fishing fleet. The issue was that the local guy right next to us caught seven snapper (and an eel). He changed out his style of hook (adding weights, etc.) when our boat moved between locations. In contrast, my group never changed our style of hook. We expected the boat crew member assigned to us, who was in charge of baiting and setting up our lines, to tell us and change out our hooks if needed. My husband and I caught on at the very end of the day and requested that weight be added to the end of our line - and I immediately got a bite. As this is a charter fishing boat where you each pay $40 to go out and catch a fish, the crew should be walking around and adjusting hooks/lines as needed for the particular style of fishing being done that day. The customers shouldn't need to think "oh, it looks like my line isn't sinking far enough - I'll ask for those little gray balls to be added to the line and maybe I'll catch something." This is the company's job, and it's a job that isn't being done currently. That said, I did have a good enough time on the boat that we'll be returning again. Booked these guys for bachelor party fishing trip. 7 guys. This is pretty ideal because then the cost is reasonable and not too many people tangling lines up and you will get attention from the crew when your tangles or the bait gets lost or eaten for some reason. As others have written, do not blame what you catch or don't catch on the company and crew. The crew itself was a great bunch of guys. We had a great time shooting the shit and generally acting like men love to do. Very helpful and responsive when it comes to questions about fishing. Would definitely go again. read more

First things first, set up is much like most of the fishing charters here in Miami. Unless you have the money to go finishing with a maximum of 6 people. I mean there's those here if you are willing and capable of paying for it. So the set up requires people's cooperation. The boat I was in was super cool and hardly any lines got caught because we were all pretty good with each other and moving according to what one the tide is doing and two your fish! (I mean come on people) I caught a king fish so I was pretty happy lol don't blame your sucky luck if you went and didn't get anything. I purchased a Groupon for this charter and it was a great experience. I reserved for Saturday night and the waters were choppy but still managed to take home 2 yellowtails and 1 snapper. All the workers were attentive and good to talk to. They were helpful and one of the guys even said where we should go for peacock fishing and what to use. I really do not understand why everyone is complaining about the lines because it was a full charter and I managed to catch 7 fish but only 3 were a keep-able size. Just drop down and let the line go. The only reason lines got tangled is because everyone was casting out and hitting other lines. They also stated the day charter is better, so maybe for everyone else... better luck next time? But I will def use them on my next fishing trip and recommend them for other people. read more

It was an ok trip. The boat was not packed at all but the few people there were all lined up next to eachother which meant lines kept getting caught but pep (crew member) was very good with attention to every situation. He was friendly and knowledgable, taught us a few things. The captain was also very friendly. He came down checked to see how everyone was doing, offered one on one help and even made friendly convo. The boat is a bit run down but it does its job. We personally didn't catch anything because we really spent most of the time changing from place to place. Maybe an hour and a half of actual fishing so that was fustrating but I know they tried their best to get people to catch fish. I would recommend and come again because the staff was great. Did not really know what to expect going into this trip. They will send you a confirmation email. Make sure you read it for the location of the dock and boat. It is on pier #5. There are 2 restrooms on the boat. There is an air conditioner in the main cabin if you get too hot. They have water available but none was offered so not sure if it was free or not. Def pack some snacks. Your about 45 minutes from the shore. We tried three different locations and a few of us caught fish before we had to head back since we did a 1/2 day. One guy snagged a hammerhead shark. We at least got to see him surface before he snapped the line. They will bait your hooks and the staff is friendly and will answer any questions you may have.
