Had a great time on their 45 foot Hatteras. Captain Albert and his first mate were outstanding, professional, and knowledgeable of where to find the fish. They didn't expect us to catch anything yet we caught one mahi-mahi, one king fish, and two tuna. It was a great day we all had a good time.

    Cuda and some Bonito

I have a company trip every year and it's been a running joke that I am cursed with marine fishing. Bahamas, Cabo, Puerto Rico, San Diego, and others. We picked the best reviewed companies--nadda. They asked what I wanted to catch I said "anything". I said Sailfish, but don't expect that to be realistic, particularly given my history. I hooked two, lost one. Also caught a trophy Cuda, and several Bonita! It was an absolute blast, the crew hustled to ensure fresh bait was on the line and took me a good distance to where I could catch one of my dream fish. It may never happen again, so I mounted it up to sit alongside my 500 gallon in-wall saltwater fish tank! I highly highly highly recommend these guys! I only wish I could go again before I return home to cold Indianapolis!

I'll start by saying that I would have gave them 5* but the boat was very messy. Now the nuts and bolts. These two guys work very hard to get you on fish. The mate was non stop on the rods. Keeping 6 sailfish baits in the water while the kings are picking you apart is a real chore. Danny busted his stones trying to keep up and I was very impressed. The captain tried very diligently to get us on fish even though the sails weren't biting. Nobody on the radio was catching one on this day, but Capt. tried many different depths and patterns. Unfortunately the bait fish were not on any of the pilings and we ended up having to go a long way before we could really get any bait in the wells. By the time we did it was 9:30 and we we were a long way from fish grounds. So we didn't get any rods in the water till about 10am on a 7am-noon trip. Not a good feeling when you are paying $960 for a half day... But, in the captains defense, we had no chance without bait. So, without me saying anything he said we would stay out an extra hour. I was very pleased that he wasn't a clock watcher as I would have had a real hard time paying him the full fare for just a little bit of fishing. They were super nice people and super knowledgeable fisherman. I was happy with the trip and would use them again. BUT, would wish that they had went out the night before and got bait (since they have a few bait well floats in the water at their dock), or bought bait from a live bait service and had it there for us to go right out at 7am. I feel like the best fishing is near dawn and we missed lots of the good fishing window.

One of the monsters peaking over the boat.

Caught 4 sailfish, only requested 1. Could not be happier. This captain respects the ocean, so make sure you can align with this before stepping into the boat. I would find it statistically unlikely to take this charter and catch nothing but that is my opinion. We filled the boat. Thanks captain Nel and Riley! I will likely be returning for a second trip at some point!

Great day out with Top Gun Charters.

Simply amazing! The boat itself was very well kept, the captain and crew were all very kind an knowledgeable. We went out a few miles from the coast and they explained to us the types of fish we wanted and why they liked to fly kites and fish. We ended up catching some HUGE tuna, or at least to us newbies they seemed huge. We took photos and videos of the battle with the sea beasts and just had a blast. I would recommend them to any and all who are looking to go out fishing in Miami.

My son and I had a great morning with Capt. Nel and his brother Carlos. Three sailfish and some great memories. Would use them again.

Captain Nel filleted them and we ate the freshest tuna ever, right there on the dock!

These birds are adorable, but they are threatened by habitat loss. There is a volunteer who regularly checks for Piping Plovers during migration, and she looks for bands that reveal the path of the bird's migratory flight. It's important that we have places for these birds to forage, and I hope the city continues to protect this beach for that use. The bathrooms were a welcome amenity. I had problems paying the parking fee, it was a complicated process. There were about 10 peafowl (peacocks) that roamed the park, a remaining vestige of when this was a zoo. There were many wild birds throughout the park.

The best part of the trip was how we had the boat exclusively to ourselves! I didn't know it'd be a private tour until the day I came. So, the boat was just a total of 3 people (captain included). The water temperature was great and the clarity was decent. We even saw two dolphins! You meetup at Whiskey Joe's at the marina and you can start your excursion immediately. I liked that you didn't need to wait around much. I was able to see some cool looking fish, a bottom feeder and a crab. You get 2 hours for the snorkeling and you're not required to wear any life vests (in fact, we weren't offered any and I didn't see any). The water is super shallow so it didn't seem dangerous at all. The water is also salty and easy to float in. The boat was nearby the main snorkeling area. The bad: The area for snorkeling was pretty small. It was an artificial reef where the fish were but outside of that area there is just seagrass and there's no living things to observe. The website says snorkeling starts at $75/pp and up but that's misleading b/c that's only the price if you have 8+ people. When I came to the marina, the worker who had me sign paperwork said that "$25/hour tip is required" when I got an email saying 15% tip is optional. My husband clarified and he said "yes, it's required" but later retracted his statement after I clarified that it was strange to give tip upfront before we even went on the excursion. However, I did already give 15% tip upfront on 50% of the value and then Zelled an additional $25 tip to the captain himself afterward. The cost for snorkeling ended up being $407 for 2 people (pricey). The interesting: The captain swam with us to lead us to the reef and then swam back and was mostly on his phone.
