My buddies and I reserved the larger (private) charter boat for the 10 of us, and Reward Fleet crew and boat did not dissapoint. Working out the details with over the phone to reserve, and then the on-board captain and mate did everything they could to make sure we had a great time and were catching fish. I can't speak for the large party boat, but I would highly recommend the "Reward Won" private charter for groups. We caught a whole bunch of Bonita's and then just before we were going to head back in, one of us hooked up with a Hammerhead Shark!!! And the crew did not even hesitate to stay longer on the water for us while my buddy fought the shark for the extra hour. What a great crew. Great times, we will reserve Reward Fleet again next time in Miami! Give them a try! read more

What a terrible experience. We made our reservation for a nite fishing and it took us a bike ride and an Uber ride to here on time. I decoders to not day drink and keep it level so I can catch a freaken fish . As soon as we arrived we were not greeted with a smiley face from the captain he instead continued to tell us that we were going to go out because others did not show up. He was trying to persuade us to leave but we stuck around. 3 more guys continued to show up and he still did not want to go out. It's our last nite and we didn't receive any call or warning that this might occur. I would recommend to find another business because this captain obviously had other plans that did not involve taking tourists fishing. read more

I had high hopes for this fishing trip today. That quickly changed five minutes after all 20 something of us dropped our lines in the water on the same side of the boat. Needless to say, almost every line got tangled up! This happened multiple times! The crew member spent more time untangling line than anything else. I dropped my line in the water only twice. After that, I found it pointless to drop it in. On the second stop, I calculated the time it took from line drop to tangle...4 minutes and 37 seconds! Tangled again. And again, it took the crew member about 20 minutes to untangle. I understand that it can be challenging to have that many people fish but seriously, they really shouldn't allow that many people to fish at the same time. One of the crew seemed to be quite rude to those that had their lines tangled. Totally not cool! I would not recommend this fishing trip. There weren't many people who actually caught fish, which is not the company's fault but still. Steer clear of this money trap unless you want to watch people's lines get tangled more than fish . read more

This is the worst fishing experience! Complete money trap. I have been fishing my entire life and was with friends who fish professionally. You get one piece of bait for the entire trip. Half way through your bait is old and dried up. They do not throw chum. They do not deep drop or go near a reef. The staff was completely inexperienced! Complete waste of time and money. We had a fantastic time from the moment the ticket window opened to the end of the experience where we had one of the girls filleting our fish to take home. I love to fish, having said that we made reservations last night to fish this morning as a last minute Sunday morning South Beach adventure, it was amazing. From the moment we paid for our half day trip we were greeted by an absolutely wonderful and positive person. We heard her outgoing and loud personality 2 couples up and when it was our turn she was welcoming, helpful and super funny, a great start. Today is a Sunday so although we had a good 20 people on the boat, it was still fairly comfortable and relaxing. The staff was very friendly and very helpful and our two lovely ladies were incredibly courteous and extremely helpful. We started catching fish immediately and left with about 5 red snapper and some other garden variety that I have no idea but it was tasty. I plan on coming back sooner than later. For $45 (Miami resident), 5 hours on the water and 5 fish that we took home, it was a great deal. I would recommend this boat to all friends, actually I already did and plant on coming back sometime midweek where I hope that the fishing is spectacular and there are less people on the boat. After purchasing a Groupon to go out on the Reward I called to make a reservation. They said there would be room for me the next day. I showed up well in advance and was greeted by a disgruntled secretary. She stated that I would not be able to use my Groupon because I did not call 3 days in advance lol. I politely explained that it does not state that on the groupon in the fine print. She went on rudely to tell me that it was their policy whether or not to let the groupon purchasers come aboard or not. Haha. Well I don't usually write a review unless the service is exceptional or in this case unacceptable. Seeing how many bad reviews are already posted for this boat I can't say that I am in the least bit surprised. So I got a refund from groupon. They can keep their crappy boat and rude secretary I won't be supporting their business and I hope other will not either. There is too much competition in the market to not treat the customer right and disregarding contractural agreements. read more

Made reservation night before but when arrived 30 min in advance (as instructed when making reservation) no one to be found. Tried calling but no answer, and waited 30 minutes. Boat arrived and boat crew asked, "did she call you?" The three of us that were waiting responded with "no," so crew began to tell us that there were not enough people there for them to get paid unless we all paid just over $100 each! So not only were we not informed but now it was to late in the day to find another option for morning fishing. This is ridiculous, don't take reservations unless you plan to fill them. My recommendation, charter with someone else. Not quite sure what the "reward" is with this company. read more

I went fishing on the Reward many years ago when I lived in Miami and wanted to take my son fishing on a recent visit and probably won't return. To begin with, their office isn't easy to find and the check in window opened late and boat left a little late. They let the "regulars" board the boat before everyone else and the best spots in back of the boat are claimed by them. The crew did not explain anything about the trip such as where we were going and what we were fishing. One mate told us how to use the fishing rod. The crew hung out most of the time with the "regulars" in back of the boat. No fishing advice was given. The lines got tangled a lot and I lost some fishing time. Nothing was offered regarding drinks and snacks. The crew did help with re-baiting the lines and the tangles. The regulars caught most of the fish. The captain moved the boat quite a few times to try to find a good spot. I had a good time because I spent time with my son and I like being on the water but the service is not customer friendly at all. To my knowledge there are no competing drift boats in the area except for miles away and that is probably the only reason the Reward is still in business. It's worth the drive north to patronize more deserving boats. read more

This boat was decent. The captain brought us to numerous locations. I actually caught a baby king fish and a friend of mine caught a bonita. There were too many people on this boat so when 1 person brings up their line, it tangles everyone else s line. I'd go again but it would have to be on a weekday. Weekends get too busy and chances of catching a fish are next to slim. There are many regulars who go on these boats and hates tourist who don't know what they are doing and causes all the lines to tangle. On a weekday it would be worth the $40. read more

After getting on the boat and it departing did one of the shipmates feel the importance to share that the day before, 25 out of 30 people got sick. That way a great way to start out. There were 3 people working the boat at least, 3 people on shift but I swear there were 4-5 other guys on there just fishing till their shift started. Went out this past Monday. First time with this drift boat. EXCELLENT customer service from beginning to end! Easy reservation, friendly and knowledgeable mates, and superb captain. I've been on drift boats before and this is by far the most pleasurable experience. We left a little late; he stayed out later! The crew wanted us to catch fish so bad they even did some live bait! Unheard of on drift boats! We saw sea turtles, porpoise, flying fish, and even had a friendly pelican followed us! Anytime we needed bait, the mates were right there. To top it off, coming in, Captain Wayne would stop to show us landmarks and other interesting sights. Hey, whether you catch or not, a day on water beats a day on land! Great experience! Pros: Rods were like brand new, most of the crew members were friendly, knowledgable, professional and accommodating (especially Bernie & Jerry), hand full of small yellowtail were caught, Florida Resident discount @ $45 ea. person fishing, cash or credit (cc maybe used at no additional charge) and free parking. Cons: The fleet wasn't in the best of shape, bait was rotten possibly used from earlier trip, roaches all over the bathrooms including inside cabin/seating area, Chris (the so called captain) is foul mouthed, unprofessional and offended my family (seconds from not going on trip to avoid his presence), fleet was over crowded, a hand full of small yellowtail were caught otherwise nothing, weights were too light and needed to be changed out to heavier ones within the first cast out (simply bring your own everything; i.e. food/drinks/hand towels/medicine/equipment and gear), I attempted to reserve the back of the boat upon reservation like instructed and they said they don't do that (even though it stated to online), I was asked to arrive early to discuss positioning options with the captain which I did and ended up on the side of boat, most of the fish being caught were at the front of the boat on this specific night fishing experience. read more

The Reward is a great fishing boat! It is clean and well maintained with two restrooms. Beers, sodas, waters for sale and sometimes snacks! The captains knows the best spots. Lots of fish nibbling and stealing my bait and some jumping right on the hook. I caught 3 large mangrove snappers, 1 smaller but legal mangrove, and some throwback yellowtails and grunts! I also caught a monster lobster and wished it was August so I could have kept him. The crew laughed and said it is always women who bring in lobsters. The boat attracts a lot of good people, so even when I'm alone I end up talking with fellow fishermen/women and having a great time. The fishing is best when the current is slow and the waves are flat, so if you want to avoid a struggle check the conditions first. The crew is readily available to assist and give endless bait and hooks. Captain Ryan is both professional and fun and Bernie is a sweetheart and very talented fisherman! read more

Worst experience on a fishing boat period. Half of the people that went got sea sick, including myself and I've been out on a boat several times and have never gotten sick. My friend offered one of the mates $100 to come back in early cause half of us got sick, he said "we have paying customers we can't turn back" yea half of them are on the other side puking. And the other half of "paying customers" were the captains buddies so you know for damn sure they did not pay full price or maybe payed period. On the way home someone was smoking marijuana I get it it's legal for medicinal but don't smoke it while kids are on board. And one of the mates told my friend and I to "stick to bridge fishing" since we got sick like great customer service a**hole! However, first half hour was spent to catch live bait. And... Afterwards we have learned that the live baits were for the crew only!!! The crew caught a few nice fish. My husband and I had an awful experience. My husband does a lot of deep sea fishing and felt embarrassed for taking me on this trip. There were just 6 paying customers on a good sized boat. We were 'assigned' to a corner which appeared promising at first. Then, we were crowded by 3 employees. One to the left of my husband, one in the water and jigging. On my right, 5 employee lines crossing mine, even over my head and pole. Their only concern was personal, not letting the paying customers catch fish. They used different baits, live and artificial....bragging about what they could take to 'market'. The paying customers should have had plenty of room throughout the boat but there were other employees fishing as well and crowding to where the fish were, literally. My husband doesn't normally complain but called and went in circles with someone named Jeff. I could hear the call and he only wanted to protect his crew, not resolve the issue. We are thoroughly disgusted with this boat and would not recommend it to anyone. Not to mention, we asked an employee 3 times in the cabin to buy a water. He clear heard us but was only interested in rigging his pole. Find another boat. Vicky needs to up her phone skills from rude to friendly, and maybe respond. read more

Today's trip was my 3rd time with Reward. The crew was friendly as always and fishing was a breeze. We had a "slow" day according to the crew, which meant that the boast hauled in a half dozen each of vermillion snapper and mutton a snapper with a few yellowtail sprinkled in. On top of that a buddy of mine landed a bonito, someone next to me landed a beautiful kingfish, and the old timers got a black fin. Went out fishing this morning and had a great time despite catching only one fish. I'm an experienced fisher and have been out on many types of boats (small private charters where it's just me and the captain to mega-sized party boats). The Reward is a medium sized charter boat. You will be fishing next to other people, but since the majority is bottom fishing, it's not like it's an issue because you aren't casting. Some reviewers claimed that the regulars get the best spot in the back of the boat. Ignore that nonsense complaint. They do put the regulars in the back. They also prep the bait back there and clean and gut the fish. It's not the best part of the boat. They put the paying customers up front, where it's clean and pretty. To the extent the regulars are catching more fish, it's not because of where they are on the boat. It's because they are better fishers. The captain and crew on the Reward are great. I think the reviewers who have complained may just not have expected the right thing for a party boat. At any rate, I highly recommend the Reward and I will being going out with them again the next time I am in Miami. read more

I've been on hundreds of fishing boats over the past 20 years and I can honestly say that this one was the worst I have ever experienced. I fished the Reward boat 3 times in a week (June 2011) and each trip became progressively worse. On the evening that we anchored, the regulars were given the back of the boat while everyone else was thrown in the middle or bow. Needless to say, the back of the boat was having a party while the rest of us suckers sat for 4 hours without a single fish. There was pot smoke billowing everywhere and those who were not high were drunk. This is common on night trips, but when things get out of hand, the crew needs to step up. The captain, for instance, allowed a drunken regular to berate a poor woman for having accidentally used his fishing rod. It looked as if it would come to blows as the woman's husband defended her. It really was a shameful disgrace and these guys should not be allowed to sail. The day trips were just as bad, if not worse. The captain had the nerve to troll for fish as we sat and watched the regulars hook and land fish from the troll lines. They even stopped to catch live bait, but no one ever saw any live bait except the regulars and the mates who also fished while they were working. I hope the owner of the boat understands what a disgrace these guys are and how they waste money and turn paying clients into disgruntled people. Though some of the mates were descent guys and one girl, Kayla, was exceptionally nice (she should find a new boat), it could not make up for the terrible fishing these guys offered. All captains have go-to spots, but this excuse for a captain kept hitting the same 2 tired spots every single trip and spent the rest of the time trolling for his friends. What takes the cake is that the captain allowed one regular to drop a line in the Marina while we were docked and hooked a tarpon that snapped the guy's line and left the protected fish with a nice sized hook and line in the its mouth. Someone from fish and game should shut these idiots down. Honestly, save your money and find a better outfit even if you have to drive a little or spend more money. If you are wondering why I went 3 times, it's because I really thought that things would get better. All in, I spent over 250 (my wife fished with me) and $30 in tips for the mates. Walked away feeling like an idiot and not a single fish. read more

I fished on this boat on a private charter with Capt. Wayne and it was a great trip. Prior to leaving the dock he let us know the game plan he was right about everything he said. If you want to catch fish than try this boat and listen to the Capt. The group we put together consisted of 12 experienced anglers so we did not have a problem with tangles. I liked that they caught bait prior to leaving so we had options. Since this was an all day trip we had plenty of fishing time and was able to try different things. The first spot produced big gag groupers and mutton snappers. I personally like to vertical jig and caught two nice jacks. The crew was very nice and friendly. The boat was spacious and we had a great time. Looking forward to planning another trip so catch another big Wahoo. I see a lot of people are giving negative comments put you have to remember its called fishing not catching. Conditions and water temp can shut down the fishing its not the boats fault. read more

First review of a poor experience before even getting on the boat. I purchased a groupon to take my daughter fishing for her birthday. My low rating starts with the change in service I was offered once the person found out I was using a groupon. Why should this make a difference. After all the whole purpose of a coupon is to get you to try the service in hopes of gaining a regular customer. Correct? Before groupon space open and ready to fish. Once groupon was presented I was told there was a four day wait to schedule. Totally upset with that type of customer service. I hope this helps someone. if you are planning on buying this groupon don't think you will be treated fairly. Btw. I called back the next day to try to get on same treatment.
