This may work as a bar, but it doesn't work as a venue. The floor backs up to the bar, so when the…read morebar lines get long they crowd out standing room to watch the DJ. It gets too packed and people are rude. I saw an inebriated man fall down and one of the bar staff just stood there and looked at him. He didn't offer help, get other people to help, or make sure he was okay. We left that show early and I will not return.

Friends with the bouncer, skip the line. Know someone that works there? Skip the line. Single woman? Skip the line. I was almost tempted to tell the women to say that they weren't with me to get inside quicker. Also if you're VIP? Feel free to skip the line. Speaking of VIP - VIP runs the club. If you aren't VIP or paid to be VIP - I would really hesitate to even coming. If you aren't VIP you can't sit or chill. As a bouncer literally told me - 'You have to pay to sit.' On the plus side, they did have their own parking behind the building - and you shouldn't have to pay to park. While the ambiance is extremely cool and very Vegas-esque, but having to 'pay to sit' in an extremely small atmosphere and the way nothing is uniform at the door will definitely have me hesitate to coming back to the club.

I really like Mosaic because it's a nightclub with trendy DJ's, a great outside patio that overlooks the KC Live! block and lively dancefloor (usually started to heat up by 10-ish). And because it's in the Power and Light District, it feels safe to me (compared to other nightclub locations in the city). I have had good experiences with the crowd there and haven't felt uncomfortable or out of place. What I don't like is the cover - it is typically $20 which is steep for a Kansas City club. I try to go on the earlier side and/or for special or ticketed events where the cover is waived or the cost feels more "worth it." Last time I went the drinks weren't anything special (typical club mixed drinks, beer, etc.) but that's what I expect from a nightclub. And I think they do try to improve their more specialized cocktail offerings. I would suggest taking an Uber/Lyft to PNL or street parking in the North Crossroads and walk over. Otherwise you'll have to pay to park in the KC Live Garage. The KC Live Garage is located at 151 E. 13th St. The garage is operated by Towne Park and has 1000 parking spaces and is equipped with electric vehicle charging station.. Event parking $15, monthly parking $75, hourly $4/hr with max of $25, evenings and weekends $3 with validation or Power & Light customers.

For those non-locals like me who haven't been going for 20 years, it's an outdoor free music festival held once a year in Corporate Woods Business Park. All donations and proceeds concessions and such go to local children's charities. What I really appreciated about the event was that many of the concessions were run by local favorites like La Bodega, Jack Stack and Bo Ling's. Don't worry though, you can still get your nacho's and funnel cake for those seeking a some traditional fair food. Beer, wine and sangria also flows aplenty! Live Jazz playing Friday and Saturday night and there's a fun run on Saturday morning. Personally the run is not for me after all the Sangria from Friday night, you won't catch this girl tackling a 5K or 10K. But don't worry runners, I'm here for moral support! I'll meet you for another glass of Sangria at the finish line! Hints - Don't bring a cooler, they aren't allowed as you are supposed to buy the food there. Before you complain remember it's for the kids. Trust me I'm using that line all weekend "I need this kettle corn, it's for the kids!" - Bring blankets and lawn chairs, no seating in the park. Unless you are going fancy and buying a seat ($60) in the jazz pavilion (read: picnic tabled area with while picket fence)! - Bring cash. Enough said. - Come early to stake out your claim in the grass and to deal with parking. How can you not love it? Free jazz, an excuse to relax in the park all afternoon and evening and eat and drink your weight in goodies from local eateries! This might have to be my new KC tradition!
