Kids and I had a blast at BRKTHROUGH when we visited KC. Our group was me and my two sons (14, 12). At BRKTHROUGH, you compete in challenge rooms (there are 40 of them, although a couple were unavailable during our visit) - they last a minute or longer, and are categorized as Physical (requiring speed, agility, coordination, etc), Mental (brainpower, trivia, memory, and puzzle-solving), or Skill (precision, dexterity, patience). The descriptors above came from the BRKTHROUGH website, but I can confirm that they are descriptive of the challenges. The room type/difficulty is shown on a triangle, so they are often a combination of two items (for example, mostly physical with some skill-based components). Every room is scored based on your completion (or lack, thereof) out of 100 points. You can redo rooms as often as you like, keeping the highest score. Your team has an RFID wristband to enter the rooms. Your goal is to earn as many points as you can during the time period you paid for (we did 2 hours). Not only do you try to get your best score, there is a leaderboard to show how you are doing against the other teams in the building. You can earn a prize if you obtain a certain minimum score, or win against the other groups. Other than the boys arguing over strategies, we had a good time. Even with young kids, we were able to complete a lot of the rooms. There are plenty of rooms that could be completed by those with physical limitations, but obviously not all of them. We had a good time and the time flew by. There is also a bar and restaurant and a few games to play after your time is up. I've been a little obsessed with BRKTHRU ever since we had a Yelp Event there years ago. Been back several times and it never get old, in my opinion. There are a handful of rooms each time that seem to malfunction. Other than that, it's a delightful place to pour yourself a drink or 3 and spend a few hours trying to escape their mini puzzle rooms. read more

December 2025 visit - I've always been terrible at games, but when my family suggested this as a group activity, I figured why not give it a try? Turns out, a team of four is the perfect size. They have about 40 different game rooms, and we managed to get through at least 25 in two hours. Fair warning: you may or may not be sore the next day! Each room features a mix of physical, mental, and skill-based challenges. Half the fun and sometimes the stress is figuring out what you're supposed to do once you step inside. I didn't know much about Brkthrough beforehand and showed up wearing boots, definitely a mistake. Good grip athletic shoes are best since some challenges involve climbing and running. There's a reason they have you sign a waiver before you start! You're competing against other teams at the same time for the highest score, which adds to the excitement. Overall, it was fun and occasionally challenging. Some rooms were a bit boring, while others literally gave you a headache. The key is to relax and not overthink it, unless your friends and family are super competitive! This was an organized team building event with a very large group of work people. I was prepared to hate it. Seriously I hate this kind of stuff. And I suck at games. But, I HAD SO MUCH FUN!!! Our team of four laughed and worked well together. It was intellectually stimulating as well as physically fun. I was the only one not in sneakers but had no problem. Would totally do this again! As for the food, we were warned it was mediocre bar food. Bummer because that was the only area of improvement. The wings were forgettable, the chips meh. The tarot tots were pretty good and the lemon bars were the best thing. Since we had been warned , most of us ate before we came. There was a large selection of beer and a few cocktails. No wine. But loved the setup- you served yourself so no waiting. I purposely didn't take a lot of pictures- you will want to be surprised! read more

My Family (2 adults and 2 teens) and my friend and her husband all visited in Jan 2025 and had an amazing afternoon here. While we didn't get food we did get the drink wall and it was so much fun. It was busy when we were there but there was no issues with using the rooms since there is so many room. Each room is a different puzzle and an absolute blast. I love that you can play in teams too. This was my third time going to BRKTHROUGH, each time with a different set of friends. I've enjoyed myself every time. I will say, while a fun date spot, it's best as a double date vibe. The more the merrier in this case, up to 4 per group. You need multiple ppl per room to really be successful if you're trying to get on the leader board. Heads up, they do start your time at your allotted time, so don't be late. If you have 2 hours, you have 2 hours lol. I haven't tried the food yet but they have some of the biggest pretzels I've seen. All in all, be ready to break a sweat and use your brain. read more

What a great date night! We loved the different options for each room - skill, mental or physical (or sometimes a combo of two). The hints were super helpful (but give it a few try's before opting for the hint!) Two hours was satisfying, but I'd recommend using the bathroom and drinking some water before starting to make the most of your time. Watch out for closing time, and get there 2 1/2 hrs before closing time if you want to use all of your time on the rooms! read more

Boyfriend and I reserved a 3 hrs slot late Saturday night. From start to finish the service and games were excellent. We loved that there were so many rooms and space in the facility. We barely waited for any room and found most rooms to be fairly easy with a few being physically challenging. Only negative experience was for another couple who thought we were hogging a room. They didn't understand that we were getting instructions and thought we were trying to start the room over again. Besides this, we hardly ran into any other problems and would definitely come back for another date night. There is a food and bar in the middle of the building with lots of seating available. I visited BRKTHROUGH twice: once with coworkers for team building and the second I won 4 passes on their Instagram holiday giveaways (hint: you should follow them on Instagram for future giveaways!!). I love how each room was different and you have to basically think outside of the box to solve it. I also liked how there's a leaderboard so we can track our score with other people that is playing that day. For each room there's a QR code you can use to scan for hints! When I first heard about this place I was highly motivated to go, it seeming like a cool new take on escape rooms, which I love. Then a year and a half went by. Now that I've gone, I realize I shouldn't have waited. It is awesome. 40 rooms stand between you and legendary status as immortal code breaker. Each room is different, each requiring a very particular set of skills to get the maximum points. After two (or four) hours, your points are tallied and you get to discover where you stand against all the other wannabe teams. It's a bunch of fun! If you need a momentary break from your Sherlockian adventures, they have food and drinks available, including a self serve row of beer taps. The gaming geniuses are all super friendly, making check-in and orientation efficient and painless. Plus, they were always available for any assistance or a quick hint. And they have free lockers. We didn't make into all the rooms and a few that we tried left us stumped. I can't wait to go back. read more

As a returning customer, I'm heavily disappointed. I am no beginner to BRKTHROUGH, as a team that is currently on the leaderboard for highest scores of all time, i shouldn't have to run into 6 different broken rooms. I can even tell you all the issues. Inca, Everglade, Invasion, Cliffhanger, Tilt, and Hive. Inca: The buttons you had to press were no longer lighting up Everglade: Once you got to 83ish points into the game, steps were no longer entirely registering, the highest able to be completed was 90 points. (Keep in mind, every game is supposed to be ABLE to give you 100 points if completed properly) Invasion: Projection wasn't working, game was still playable though. Cliffhanger: When scanning into the room, immediately when you step in the game would end. Tilt: The game broke while playing it, we rescanned into the game, hoping it would come back on, but the game broke even more. Hive: The sensors weren't working, so no matter how many times you completed it, the points never registered. For awhile staff members helped, but the more problems we encountered, they seemed to think we were lying. 25-30 minutes of our time was wasted, trying to find team members to explain the issues so they could fix the games, and that nobody else would have to encounter the issues. It's unfortunate because i enjoy the games and attempting to beat out other high scores. I hope to see this place fix their games. read more

We had a really great time! We brought our friends and godchildren, the youngest being 9. Despite some of these games being a little difficult for that age, I believe both kids had a great time. Next time we go, we might opt in for a longer reservation. Two hours didn't feel like enough! At one point, it got busy enough that there was a wait for some rooms. We didn't end up even doing all of the rooms, which means we will just have to come back! If you haven't gone, the entire system is pretty cool. A team leader wears a wristband so that allows your team to go into an available, green lit room. That RFID card also tracks your score and progress in the room. You can do as many or repeat as many rooms as you'd like. Our team's favorites were Lava and the one with lily pads, though we aren't sure if we did that one right lol. If you purchase soft drinks, it's unlimited. There's a really cool self serve bar that is done with a pass but none of us were drinking. They serve sports-bar type food there, too. BRKthrough is such a fun experience!! This is the second time we went, and this time we brought the whole gang! Here's how it works - you form teams of 2-4 people. There are about 40 separate rooms, and each room has a puzzle to solve or a physical activity to complete. You get 3-5 minutes to solve/do it, and a possible score of 100 points per room. If you fail, you can just re-scan your team back into the room and try again. Most rooms don't have instructions, so you just have to figure out what to do. You're competing against all other teams of the day/night, and you can check the leaderboard at any time and see where you stand. The facility itself is really nice and new, and they seem to maintain the games really well. You can get food/drinks if you get tired of playing. The workers are very nice - good customer service! And they also have free lockers for your stuff. I will say that this is a place for more fit people - the physical challenges are HARD. I'd definitely be worried about having, say, my older (although physically fit) parents try them, because it seems like you could get hurt fairly easily on some. You do have to sign a waiver beforehand. Almost everyone in our group of 10 loved BRKthrough! The ones who didn't enjoy it so much were those who aren't crazy about escape rooms/puzzles. read more

My friend and I had so much fun spending two hours doing mini challenges and escape rooms we had lots of laughs, were physically and mentally challenged, and really enjoy the uniqueness of this space. Had a blast here. Three women in their late 30s-40s really enjoyed a couple hours here. We came late on a Friday night and it wasn't too busy. Every employee was super helpful. I didn't catch all their names, but from check-in and o instructions, to food & drink service, to cleaning, to game help, I have never seen so many young employees be so incredibly friendly and helpful. That really made the experience a perfect 10. Desi was so nice to check for us which foods were gluten-free since we have someone in our group with celiac. The food was good and the price is right. I wish there was a non-alcoholic beer option, but I settled for the low alcohol Radler. There's also a soft drink fountain. There weren't any wines on tap, but my sister enjoyed one of the margaritas instead. We came an hour early to eat and this worked out perfectly. You definitely want to come before your reserved time so that you have a few minutes to get instructions, get settled, get your drink card, put stuff in the freezer lockers, etc. We didn't get to every game room but we were able to play a lot in two hours. There were mental, physical, and skills challenges. Something played to everyone's strengths. Some we couple t figure out, but there was always an employee around to give pointers if we wanted them. Some activities had us laughing like crazy trying to complete the physical challenges. I'm definitely suggesting this to my office for our holiday party this year. There was a variety of patrons, most from high school age up to 40s.you should check it out at least once. We had three people on our group and this was the perfect number for most rooms. 3-4 is ideal, I think. You should check this out at least once. Minimum group size is 2, each room holds a max of 4 people so if your group is bigger you'll be split into teams the right size. If the door is lit green you can go inside and face the challenge. Red is in use and blue is out of service. Really easy to navigate and quickly go from one to another and keep the excitement going. Each room is labeled to show what kind of challenge is inside with a mix of logic, mental and physical. Lots of space to hangout afterwards. Very fun, new concept! These are kind of like small breakout rooms but also different. You have to have 2-4 members to a team. You work together to win points for your team in each game or room. Each team has a caption. The captains only real job is to scan an RFID bracelet to unlock the room and start each game. Games can be attempted any number of times. Each room is either a physical, mental, or skill challenge, or some combination of those types. The games only last a few minutes each so you have plenty of time to try out different games. You earn up to 100 points in each game depending on your performance. The games are not necessarily associated with "breaking out" like in a breakout room. They can be solving puzzles, physical challenges, and memory games for example. Different games play to different peoples strengths so it helps to bring a diverse crowd. Dress appropriately! Athleisure ware is perfect. Definitely tennis shoes or some kind of shoes with good grip and clothes that are easy to move around in. I came straight from work wearing business casual clothes and that was a mistake. If I had one suggestion for the company, it would be for them to add a difficulty level for each game so customers know going into the game what to expect. We accidentally chose the hardest game first according to an employee. We were getting quite frustrated when we could not solve the puzzle after the umpteenth attempt. There were a few games we could not quite figure out. They are challenging but certainly doable and fun. I would absolutely recommend this for a double date, girls night out, or guys night. They have self serving taps with a good selection of beers, seltzers, ciders, and wine from local business (think Boulevard). They had some food options as well. I recently attended a corporate event at BRKTHROUGH, and it was my first visit to this place, or really any place of this sort! Spoiler alert: IT WAS A BLAST!!! There are dozens (yes, DOZENS!) of games for teams of four people to embark on, each in their own room (or set of rooms). There are different styles of games - some are mental, some are lightly physical - and a points system based on how well and quickly you complete the task or game in each room! While you're there, enjoying all the games, there's a leaderboard of all the active groups to track how you're doing! The game rooms all surround a commons area, of sorts, that serves food and beverages, and has some seating to enjoy said food and drinks. Yes - adult beverages are there, too! This place is PERFECT for team events, corporate events, birthdays....anything where you'd have at least four people to go around playing games! I was there for almost two hours, and we didn't make it to all of the games, or even close - so there are plenty to enjoy! Part of the fun is replaying games to raise and maximize your score! Some of them take a time or two to really understand the objective, and then you can focus on attaining the best score possible! Around 10 years ago my family tried out our first break out room. Since then every family trip we have done at least one break out room. We've done breakout rooms in Chicago, NYC, the Philippines, Arizona, Colorado, etc. My brother took a course on break out rooms and my family considered starting our own breakout room business in our city. All this to say, my family is PASSIONATE about breakout rooms and has seen quite a few different types of business plans. We have also been to a different BRKTHROUGH in Arizona, and this one in KC is absolutely phenomenal! We paid for 4 hours and around 3-3.5 was perfect for us. We were in groups of 3-4 and thought that that was a good size for most puzzles. There were a few puzzle rooms out of order and a few that were kinda easy that could be improved, but overall we still had a great time and love how great of an activity this is for families, work teams, friends, etc. We went out to dinner before, so we didn't try anything on the menu, but there were quite a few drinks on tap! Margaritas, beer, etc! Great to know for next time. We look forward to seeing what new rooms open. Definitely a great evening out and about. Rather than a single room, there is a collection of rooms, each with it's own puzzle that you have to solve. We spent a good 2 hours here and could have stayed longer. Definitely best if you can go with a group of 4 as some of the rooms are quite difficult if not impossible to accomplish with two people. They also offer food and drinks and I like that you pay by the ounce for the drinks. You just fill up your glass with however much you like. Can't comment on the food yet though as I haven't eaten there but the options are fairly basic from burgers, wings and nachos. The staff is very helpful and the atmosphere is awesome! Oh! The drinks are pretty decent as well. You can get your drinks on the self-pour wall. I took a group of 17 co-workers as a team-building experience and they all enjoyed themselves. At the end of our 4 hours, we were all WIPED OUT, in a good way. My sister and I brought our parents here for Mother's Day, and enjoyed 2 hours of family fun. BRKTHROUGH is essentially mini escape rooms for shorter attention spans. There are dozens of rooms on offer, with different kinds of physical, mental, and skills-based puzzles that last a couple of minutes. I like the model of having a 2-hour block of time, and getting to explore the different rooms in any order, at your own pace. You can repeat a room as many times as you want, so you can crack the code and increase your points. There is a full kitchen and alcohol available in a central cafeteria-like area. The alcohol is self-serve and paid by the oz, which is kind of cool. The 2-hour package was just the right amount of time, and a good way to spend an afternoon. The vibes are definitely commercial - there is no natural light and the acoustics in there are horrible. It'd be nice if they vibed it up a bit, especially in the main central area. I'm curious how often they'll rotate the rooms. I don't foresee myself going back in the near future, as we probably completed 50-75% of the rooms, and I wouldn't want to repeat them. read more

We didn't even get to all of them in two hours but we did to a spot. However the clues they have on the QR codes are really not that helpful. Lol I do wish there was more of an explanation. But this place is great. I feel like it's more for adults than children because of the rooms were kind of hard! But this was super fun and the system was set up really nice. I really enjoyed BRKTHROUGH and I would recommend trying it out with friends. This is not something that I would recommend doing solo. We went as a couple and had a ton of fun, but the games require teamwork so be prepared to work together! We enjoyed most of the game rooms. They are pretty intuitive and fun to figure out. A few of the game rooms made no sense to us though and had no directions or clues that we could figure out. There are also a few rooms that are unavailable right now. There is plenty of space to sit and eat/drink before during or after your play time. I really enjoyed that you could self pour your own beer/alcohol. You will be given a card to use at the taps and you are only charged for what you pour. There are little shelves outside of each game room as well for your drinks (don't take those into the room!) the games are active/physical so I do recommend wearing comfortable clothes, 'athleisure' wear would be best. There are lockers in the front as well that are free to use if you need to store coats, purses or other lose items. We got two large winter coats in one locker with no issues. Overall, we had a great time and do plan to come back when all of the game rooms are complete! read more
