After searching for many barbershops I stumbled upon The Ridgewood Man while strolling around Ridgewood and I would have to say that they are top notch! I scheduled an appointment online from their website with Lia, and she was great and groomed my hair as per my liking, I went with their signature cut option which includes hair wash, hair cut and neck cleaning. The check-in process was simple and the wait time was under 5 minutes. all i can say is if its an emergency the cut is alright but honestly it gets a huge no never again in my book. terrible customer service. just because they are in ridgewood they think they can charge outrageous prices and gib their customers.- and the best part you pay for a shampoo & conditioner and they try and cheat you out of it, smh, my man only went here because his regular hair dresser was unavailable. but never again. anyone who goes here has no idea what a good haircut experience is.and the hysterical part, the receptionist washes the hair- unbelievable. and in the description for the "signature cut" it clearly states shampoo & condition and scalp massage. but apparently (and even if yr new) you need to ask for it!! how tacky. and don't even think a out a quick beard trim for ten seconds, i guess its $65 for a ten seconds beard trim and/or $65 for a "full service beard."tacky. just tacky. again pretty decent cut, but honestly, not worth it. and the funny part my husband tips 20-25% and their poor customer service get them a 0% tip. that's a dope fiend place. and i think all the other reviews are fugazi! that should be their new name- "the fugazi man" my husbands regular hairdresser blows this whole salon out of the water. just tacky. read more

It's not just a haircut, it's an experience! I never felt comfortable at a woman's salon having my hair cut while the woman next to me was wrapped in some kind of crazy aluminum space helmet or kids were screaming in strollers. This place is for men, dark paneling, lots of TVs, attentive and experienced staff. From the second you walk in you are greeted like a regular and offered a beverage while you wait. The staff is friendly and accommodating with scheduling and services. The haircuts are precise and modern and the straight razor shave makes me feel like I'm in a scene from Mad Men. Even if the haircut was mediocre I'd go back. If they are available, ask for Betty-Anne or Celeste, they are great conversationalist like an old-school bartender. They do other stuff there like facial nails and massages but I haven't tried those yet. read more

"The Ridgewood Man" is a new men's salon located right on Ridgewood Avenue. Like its 'brother' location, "The Hoboken Man", this is a full-service men's salon with strong customer service and an upscale environment. They will take walk ins, but appointments are the way to go. Let me first mention that the stylists are very high quality. Expect to get a great haircut for a reasonable price (not inexpensive, but reasonable). You'll have access to hot lather/straight razor shaves, shampoos, hot towels and other luxuries. In addition, this is a full service salon, so services like hair coloring, manicures, facials, waxing, etc., are all available. The salon itself is super clean, has a modern look and a masculine appeal. The Ridgewood Man also does the little things (smile, offer you a glass of water, hang your jacket, etc), that make the visit comfortable and inviting. They even have a great selection of men's and leisure magazines. There is a lot of parking in the area, just bring a few quarters for the meters. I came here for the first time recommended by my brother-in-law. Everyone here was so friendly and accommodating. The receptionist asked to hang up my jacket, which is such a small gesture but excellent customer service. The Ridgewood Man is definitely more upscale than other places and I like that. Mario was my barber and what a cool dude. I'm very introverted, but he was so easy to talk to and he asked a lot of questions about how I wanted my hair cut. Excellent service, wonderful staff.. Hit or miss. Both times I've been, the stylist seemed to be in a rush, cutting my hair in 15 minutes. The first time, the haircut was decent, and the straight razor trim of the neckline was nice. This time, the haircut was so bad, I had to fix spots she missed with scissors when I got home, and people have commented they can see lines on the side of my head where she didn't blend well with the clippers. No straight razor shave of the neckline offered the second time. A friend had a similar experience. That said, great ambiance and comfortable. What a great barbershop!! I am so glad to have found this place. I recently joined the membership program and couldn't be happier I did. The staff is friendly, accommodating and thorough. They even greet me by first name whenever I come in. The shop has a great neighborhood feel and the staff have clearly taken extra precautions to be safe throughout the covid pandemic. Not respectful of time. Had an appointment at 6. Only one person working and girl in front. Was told Brandon is running 10 minutes late. After 10 minutes I ask if we are ready and I get asked "are you busy?" Then told it's another 10 minute wait. No real apology. More like I was a burden. Ridgewood Man is one of the best barbershops I have ever been to. I have been going to the shop since 2017, and every experience I have ever had there has been amazing. Besides being one of the cleanest and nicest barber shops I have seen, every team member goes out of their way to make the experience amazing. After going to many traditional salons I finally found a place where I feel comfortable. It's clean and TVs everywhere to keep up on news and sports. The staff is awesome always making me feel appreciated as a customer. They offer me something to drink as soon as I check in. After my cut they use a hot towel and clean up the neck. Was in recently for eyebrow wax and beard trim / shave. Eyebrow service was excellent. I had booked the beard trim / shave with a senior barber and as I was waiting for him, was passed to a new barber (which I did not expect). He seemed nice but made me a bit nervous as I didn't feel like he was all that experienced. I just had him do the shave and left the beard trim alone as I noted earlier in the review, I just wasn't all that confident in him. Amazing. Was reccomended this place by a co-worker. I have been bouncing between places over the last 2 years, and have finally found a place that is worth every penny. Had a haircut from Celeste who is amazing. Figured out why my hair parts in certain places, came up with a way to work around it and to lessen it. Perfect cut and facial services from her. Now my husbands first experience here was awesome! Hot towel, massage and wash on the head and a clean cut. I booked him again before my daughters sweet 16 so he could be relaxed and feeling good....well we were sadly mistaken! First when I called to confirm the appointment, for some reason they had him down for March when I asked for February 2nd. Then, after correcting the appointment and making it for the right date and time they still scheduled for the wrong time again. I'm not gonna complain normally about 15 min but this was the second mistake already so i was raising eyebrows. Then after having booked the appointment with a senior stylist they put him with a newbie. Now i am not downing newbies, but this one really dropped the ball! After my husband asking him if he knew how to do a brooklyn, he says yes and my husband relaxed only to open his eyes and look at the flat top (like a kid and play flat top) he had done. Already upset my husband asked him to clean up his face only to tell him to stop because he couldn't even do that. My husband goes to leave and the front desk clerk sees he's upset and that the barber didn't finish the job so she gives him a "discount". After speaking with my husband on the phone and hearing the hurt in his voice I called them and gave them a piece of my mind. I mean after all, these are pictures that my daughter will look back at when she is older. Long story short they wound up giving us our money back for the cut and I had to fix his hair to look decent enough for pictures. So let down and upset for such a classy place who set the bar high and ended with traumatizing my husband. read more

They were so accommodating, friendly, and all of us walked out looking on point. We had all different kinds of hair, from dred locks to completely bald, and the staff was able to handle all of it with ease. The first and only time i walked onto this place was a waste of time. I came looking for a shave and a haircut, but when i got inside the women at the front desk seemed confused as what i was doinfg there. When i told her what i wanted she went to talk to one of the barbers and they told me they cant cut my hair. I had no idea why they wouldn't take me and they never gave a reason. My best bet would be because im a black man and they both looked like they never seen black guy anywhere near this place before and most likely didn't even know how cut my hair.
