I like doing a big circle using sidewalks and dirt trails around the entire park. That's a nice but not too time consuming jaunt. During the spring there is some beautiful cherry blossoms trees on the west side of the park. But what I like best about this park is the recycle drop off points. There is a drop off point at the current time for glass and cardboard. This is a very convenient place to go to do this chore as it's not far from home at all. Definitely the best coaster in the park! The day I went I was surprised that the line for it was…read morereally short compared to the Wild Thing steel coaster that is located up front. Probably because it is kind of hidden all the way back in the park. Wooden coasters are designed to be shaky and give that going off the rails feeling. It's sad that this one is a lot smoother than the steel one because those are supposed to be much smoother. Some tips. As with any coaster, the best seats are usually all the way in the back where you can feel the full G forces when you go down drops and sharp turns. For this ride, you are not allowed to ride it without shoes. No, there is no camera that takes your pic for you to purchase. There is a small shack at the exit that wasn't open so I assume that would of been it. There are no storage bins to put your loose articles in like glasses, hats, etc. You can just put on the ground next to the wall and pick it up as soon as you get off the ride. Minimum height requirement is 48 inches. Overall, The price of admission is not worth it for the whole park. Even if you chose to swim the water park part of it, I think it is still overpriced for most of the park is not maintained properly. Refer to my Wild Waves theme park review. This brand new splash pad just opened last week and we checked it out today - this will be a WEEKLY…read morespot for us this summer. I'm so stoked on this addition to the city! Not only do we live 6 minutes away, but it's nestled next to the aquatic center so parking is a breeze. Since this is a newer spot, everything is pristine and modeled very well. The bathrooms are spacious and clean and a good spot to change your kids into dry clothes after they're done playing. The splash pad itself looked small at first, but it really is a good size and my kids spent THREEE HOURSSS here and were asking to stay when it was time to go. They had a BLAST! There is a good deal of covered umbrella tables with chairs, as well as a couple large picnic style tables. There is also a good amount of lush grass perfect for setting up blankets and towels. As a toddler mom, I also appreciate that this place is SUPER fenced. There is obviously a small opening at the entrance, but other than that you don't have to worry about them having easy access to the street at all. They have two cabanas that are rentable, and each one fits about 10 ish people. They are covered and have comfy seating. My kids had so much fun here that we decided to book both cabanas for my son's August birthday party. There is a refundable deposit attached, but the fee itself is $75 for the DAY to rent (11am-5pm). Definitely an affordable price tag if you're looking to come here with a guaranteed covered space for the day. They also have a small "splash snacks" walk-up counter that has things like light snacks, sunscreen, and slushies for sale. I would say the only thing I noticed that I'm surprised they didn't add was a water bottle refill station. You could of course just use tap water from the bathrooms, but if you're not a fan of that, plan to bring lots of extra water. I see lots of days at the splash pad in our future!

It's huge, clean, almost all the way fenced in, and plenty of different spray equipment to keep kids entertained for a long time. I was the only one here with my kid on a weekend morning (which is fine by me!) but do hope this wonderful splash pad gets a lot of use from the area kids and families.

Owner answered all of our questions and was very nice. I let the owner know I haven't skated in over 30 years and he gave me some pointers. I'm taking my 4 year old here after soccer to get him a board too. I picked myself up a long board so I could cruise along with them. Very nice owner and the place to go if you want to get a budget to a good board. Definitely recommend to all my Pierce county folk looking for a place to find a good board and just to answer all your questions about skating.

Most of the people at the park are here for the basketball court and skate park. There are rarely any dogs and people taking on the trails. There are many paths for you to take whether it be the north side of the baseball field or the left side of the baseball field, you end up back at either the park or another neighborhood. My only problem is this park is dirty. The trails are filled with litter and the fields are not as maintained. Overall, we will definitely come back to this park. Its peacefully busy, but the park needs a little more maintenance.

That said, it can be easy to get lost if you're not paying attention / don't have GPS due to there being so many channels. This area offers a gorgeous view of Mount Rainer and lots of views of beautiful homes outlining the lake. At park itself has descent parking (free) and public toilets. Across the street from the park is a "snack shack" so you can def spend many hours here. For kayakers - just be aware that there can be a lot of boats in the area - so just keep a look out where you're going.

I have played on the four indoor courts extensively, including a lot of league play, and have always found them adequate. They were resurfaced not too long ago. Playing on the six outdoor courts in good weather is really nice, though as a previous poster noted, they are typically dry only four or five months a year. For anyone who values the social aspect of tennis, LRC is a good bet, too. The management and members are friendly folks. I'll always have a warm place in my heart for this club, and would have given five stars but for not wishing to appear as a homey booster.

But who's joining a tennis club in Seattle/Tacoma where it rains 8 months out of the year for the outdoor courts? I'm judging this place based on their indoor courts which needs work. The lighting could be nicer on all 4 indoor courts. They have 2 courts in one area of the club, then 2 in another. The first 2 courts are awful, there are big ceiling poles in the middle, and a wall to the left side that you can easily run into. I've had Lakewood team tennis players tell me it's their strategy to hit short angles so players collide into that wall. When you run back for lobs, there's basically no padding behind the tarp. So you collide right into a wall. Once, I was running back for a lob and someone had the steel door open because they were watching a match through it (I don't get why this person thought this was a good idea). So, I run into the tarp and right into the door (I didn't know it was open), right into them, and had the door been open a bit more, it would have probably knocked me out. They have a pool here. But it's not a real lap pool where you can swim. It's what I call a "drunk pool." Meaning it's more one of those pools people in Southern Cali will have in their backyard, where on late summer nights when you've had a lil' too much hard alcohol and for some reason you feel like jumping into water naked - it's that type of sized pool. If this club near was in the Bellevue or Seattle area, or more North, it wouldn't survive. I think it has a large membership base because there aren't many options in the Tacoma area for tennis. Tacoma Lawn isn't worth the money at all (indoor courts are pretty weak), Sprinker is nice but always packed, so Lakewood survives as an alternative.
