Superficially this facility looks decent. However, the reality seems to me that from my experience of having been here numerous times in the past and even to the present, this facility is quite disorganized, especially regarding communications among the management and the staff. As far as I am concerned, the "Activities" section of this facility needs to improve. Stimulating "Activities" for the residents are a vital part of assisted care facilities. Yet, after providing innumerable service in this regard, I have had extreme difficulty in getting compensation for my services rendered here, i.e., providing necessary entertainment as requested by many of the residents. Non-payment of services rendered is a serious matter. The "Human Resources" of this facility should be rated the worst in Rio Rancho. Unless they change the present system of compensation for those who provide entertainment to the residents, I will never ever perform at this over-rated "care" facility. read more

After a three day day at Sandoval Regional Hospital (which was wonderful) with a broken ankle, I was taken to this H*** Hole for rehab. I got there at 2:30 and a CNA came in, put a clipboard down and left...no instructions on what I should do. I didn't see anyone until 5:30 when they brought dinner in.I didn't get water until 10pm. I ask for a wheelchair and they said I couldn't have one. At midnight the pain level was a 10 and they didn't have orders for pain meds. I ask for ice bags for the pain and they said they didn't have orders for that either. Common sense has gone out the window at this facility!!! I stayed awake all night watching QVC trying to keep my mind off the pain. At 8am, I called my son and asked him if he had time for a "pity party." I was crying and told him what had happened and that I had to get out of there. Of course then I had several people come in and tell me that things would get better and the night nurse had had a bad week. I doubt if her week was any worse than mine with surgery for a severly broken ankle. I left there at 3pm just thankful to put The Rio At Cabezon or Rio at Rio Vista, as it is now called. My advise is: if you really care about your loved ones DON'T GO THERE! read more

Do not let the beautiful pictures of The Rio influence your decision. If you care about your love one do not send them to this place. My husband has been there two days and we can not get him out fast enough. The food is uneatable. It is served cold. The tray comes without salt, pepper, butter, sugar, etc.. Would you want your cold oatmeal without sugar? The milk is warm. All cold drinks come without ice. The only time my husband sees a tech or a nurse is twice a day when they take his vitals and give him his meds. If it wasn't for family he would never have water. He could ring his bell ever time he wanted something but the odds are 50/50 whether they will remember once they leave his room. Clair came to the room yesterday. She indicated she was the coordinator of The Rio. I don't have her actual title because she was suppose to bring us a card, but like everybody else, we never saw her again. She came to ask us about my husband's stay so far. She ask us to be honest and we were. She said the first thing she would do is ask the "chef" to come talk to us. We have yet to see him. Nothing changed after she came in. We are taking my husband out of this place before their neglect does damage. read more

Please turn around and run. Not enough help and those that do work there are useless and have no idea of whats going on. If your loved one has to go for outside services do not let them go alone. I couldn't find my mother and the company Triple D transport had her and wasn't returned for almost 3 hours after her appointment was over. I tried this place based on locality. Should have read the first two reviews before being fooled by the beautiful pictures' It took two days before I finally got through the fog of not being in a hospital On the third day my wife and son were tired of the not answering of the phones that they came to my rescue. RGC If I could give them a negative rating I would. Rio is a joke. Not enough staff to help the residents with feeding, helping to bathroom, caring and skin breakdown prevention. They took forever to come when the lights were on for assistance. I brought food in because the food was terrible. Dad fell twice from the side of the bed because he was left in soiled undergarments. The last fall he had was in the courtyard in August. It was hot outside he was on the sidewalk and left there until the Presbyterian ambulance came. Even the ambulance attendants were disgusted with the staff and there lack of compassion and care. He had to be seen by a wound specialist in the emergency room due to the severity of skin breakdown in his private area due to lack of changing him and not treating the skin. He also had heal soars on his feet that escalated in 3 days that the sores were considered a stage 4 sores. The directors and those with titles would not return calls would not set up meeting to discuss what the issues were and how they would address changes. Inconsistency with medications and lack of taking responsibility. I was in the process of taking my dad out of there and then he had his 3rd fall. He never was the same after that. My dad worked hard all of his life, all I wanted was for dad to be taken care of not just warehoused in a building that took his dignity and self respect because they chose not to provide the help he needed.
