AA has definitely given me a close community to lean into and still provides me with a space to safely share with/listen to others who can relate. However, I wish I had gotten initial help at Turning Point. Seeing how the staff works together to help people get through some difficult times, like detox, while educating them on what the serious effects of substance abuse does to the body is a whole other of care step programs don't offer. I've seen more people stick with recovery and maintain their sobriety when their recovery journey combines the two experiences of step programs AND rehab with places like Turning Point. That because Turning Point offers a full continuum of care, with medical professional, clinician, and CPSWs all working with you to help you achieve your sobriety.

(Thinking about it now, i should have said "it's asking me, not you.) So I changed them. Then I was redirected to get cleared by a nutritionist to make sure I was "happy and healthy" and not "passing out or falling asleep". I felt so confused. They never mentioned a nutritionist before and I know it takes 3 months to be referred. They didn't ask me if I've ever fainted I've asked my psychiatrist for a referral and she told me to get a one on one instead, since it would be more beneficial. I did not finish intake, I told her since I did not have any professional support (WHY I WAS THERE ) I would not benefit from finishing the outpatient because I would have to wait 3 months to to have support. I told Sam I was okay with going through it again. I felt like she did not want to help me. She called my accent "beautiful" which made me feel like she did not have exposure to different languages and peoples. I felt "exotic". I said some words in Spanish. After hanging up it wasn't that great. I ended up activated and in the bathroom floor in the dark. Plugging my ears and eyes waiting out the panic attack until I fell asleep. This is not a place I would recommend to anyone. They told me they would call back "to check on me" but i will not be answering their calls or joining their program. They are not the only place in Albuquerque thankfully. I will be emailing a complaint. Because what the heck.

They would only approve them for their intensive program, which is 3 hours a day and more expensive, versus their outpatient program, which is one hour a day. Since this individual was not able to spend 3 hours a day in program, the individual begged to be accepted into the outpatient program, but was denied. You would think that if this organization truly wanted to help people, they would realize that any treatment is better than nothing, rather than just denying people who really need the help.

The pain is absolutely mind blowing to the point where I have considered ending it all. My doctor has tried everything to treat my condition and has referred me to many specialists. Although some progress has been made I'm not anywhere near healed. As we all know and have experienced as patients in the health care system after a visit with a provider more often than not we leave feeling like another name and number on a chart hoping that the next prescription or specialist will help. I went from being a middle aged man able to work to now being in a wheelchair. Recently I was referred to Professional Home Healthcare Services. I was assigned a RN named Jasmine who is a wound care specialist. I have had several such nurses in the past but they don't even compare to Jasmine. She is a utterly fantastic nurse. By this I mean that she is truly professional, compassionate, genuinely concerned and caring too. She takes the time to talk to you, educate and offer advice and discuss treatment options. She has done everything possible to protect me from any kind of exposure and cross contamination during her visits with me as she treats my wounds and dresses them. She really loves what she does and it shows. She is the only health care provider that has been able to make significant progress with treating my condition and my wounds are slowly beginning to heal and close to the point now where I am able to stand up and walk short distances with a walker. No body has been able to do that for me! Jasmine has been a God send to me. She takes the time to call me during her time off just to check up on me. When is the last time a provider called you on their on time off just to see if you are ok?? Professional Home Healthcare Services is so lucky to have such a incredible RN and wonderful woman working for them. It's not often that you find a RN provider like Jasmine. Her professionalism, compassion, concern, ability to truly connect with her patients and instill hope in their healing process is remarkable. Her positive attitude and understanding of what I've been through has given me a new outlook and seeing the remarkable improvements in my health and wounds is directly because of her. In my experience visiting St. Francis Health Center, and specifically with my nurse practitioner, Abby Rodriguez, I have felt entirely seen and cared for. The establishment is explicitly feminist and highly regards the voices and opinions of patients, materials in the lobby emphasize the power of women to make their own health choices and it is clear that the St. Francis Health Center exists to support women to do just that. In my checkups with Abby, I never felt like she lacked for time. Abby asked lots of questions pertaining to my physical, mental, and emotional health, in addition to performing a routine physical and ordering blood work. Based on my answers and the results of my blood work, Abby has been able to recommend a range of non-invasive options to support my particular health needs including vitamins, herbs, and supplements, and personally recommending mental health professionals, acupuncturists, various types of alternative and energy therapists. For example, Abby was able to recommend a pre- and post-surgery protocol of vitamins/supplements that accelerated my healing in incredible ways, much to my surgeon's dismay. Throughout my time seeing Abby, I have felt that we were exploring questions and answers together - without the undue pretension of an MD who makes an act of knowing more than they do and discards the infinite potential offered by Eastern/"Alternative" Medicine.
