In early June I enjoyed my second stay at The Rittenhouse. I like the hotel because of the lovely location on Rittenhouse Square, as well as the quiet and flowered lobby without the hustle and bustle of a commercial hotel. The 1970's vibe of the architecture and décor is also appealing. On my last visit, I stayed in one of the "Luxury One-Bedroom Suites" on the "R" Floor (the top floor for the hotel rooms----there are condominiums above). My room on that prior visit was "R-8", which overlooked Rittenhouse Square. On this recent visit, I opted for one of the "Specialty Suites". Specifically, I chose the "Mary Cassatt Suite"---R-3, named after the famous Pennsylvania-born fine artist, Mary Cassatt. I wanted a larger suite because of the dining room table that was missing from R-8. On reflection, I think I will go back to staying in the Luxury One Bedrooms Suites next time. There were things about the Mary Cassatt Suite that did not please me, and I will list them here: First of all, there was no plaque on the door or wall to designate it as "The Mary Cassatt Suite". That is one of the expected perks of staying in a specialty suite. Moreover, there was absolutely ZERO references to the great painter in the room. Nothing. NADA, NADA, NADA. That makes me feel as if it was just a marketing tool to designate the Suite by the artist's name, with no thought put into the reason for the designation. I was thinking how easy it would be for Rittenhouse management to personalize the suite. For example, there are two large modern art prints in the room. Go to art.com and order two large Mary Cassatt prints and put them in the frames. Moreover, there were some coffee table books in the room on antique porcelain tea sets and the art of making tea. Go to Amazon.com and order two big coffee table picture books on the works of Mary Cassatt and place them on the coffee table in the living room and on a dresser in the bedroom. More extensive transformation could include removing that grass cloth wallpaper covering the walls and putting up a romantic floral, in the spirit of the delicate paintings of Mary Cassatt. I am aware there are some original drawings by Mary Cassatt in the bar, and I am not suggesting moving those to the room, since the display in a public space allows for a wider audience and appreciation of the works. Nonetheless, ordering a couple Cassatt prints on art.com is as easy as pie, so why not do it? There was a little glitch upon arrival at the airport. The driver that had been arranged by the Rittenhouse was NOT waiting at the foot of the escalators at baggage claim as I had been advised. I looked around everywhere and saw no one. I immediately called the Rittenhouse concierge, Sean, and he assured me the driver had just informed him via text that he was indeed at the airport. Sean kindly stayed on the phone until I met up with the driver. [The driver later admitted "he had been in the bathroom". After that initial issue, the drive from the airport proceeded smoothly, and the driver was very kind and pleasant. Upon arrival at the Rittenhouse, Sean greeted me and also helped me with detailed map directions on foot to Friday, Saturday, Sunday Restaurant, where I and my guests would be dining that evening. But I save the best for last. The Rittenhouse bellman, Victor, is kind, efficient and helpful beyond all expectations. He immediately greeted me upon arrival like an old friend even though I had only been to the hotel on one prior occasion. Seeing Victor again to experience his refined and gracious service is reason enough for me to return to the Rittenhouse! Bravo, Victor!

This is a great and luxurious hotel that's tight next to a park. 1. Reserve online. 2. Check in using your ID and the same credit card on file. The whole process takes less than 5 min. 3. Take an elevator to your room. 4. Someone will bring you ice, a bottle of water, and a piece of chocolate. 5. Unpack and hang our clothes using the hangers. Thete are tons of hangers in the closet. 6. Lie in bed, enjoy the view, or watch TV on the big screen. Tips: upon check in, ask for a map if you are not familiar with the area. Generally, this is a safe neighborhood, but if you are exploring around town, receptionists can tell you which areas you might want to avoid.

I had a wedding in Downtown Philadelphia and would be attending the Rehearsal Dinner, Wedding and Sunday Brunch so I decided to get a room for two nights at the Rittenhouse. The room I got was on the 9th floor and overlooked 20th Street, which was nice, but I would have preferred a view of Rittenhouse Square. However, the amenities in my room were great. The TV was giant and extended while the couch had a roll-out bed inside of it. There were plenty of seating areas and the large king bed I had was very comfortable. My room lacked much of a kitchen, but they did have a little section that had a coffee maker and a mini-bar. However, I was in the bride's room a couple of times and noticed she did have a full kitchen, but I suppose that was due to the fact that she stayed in a suite. The lobby here is really nice with some seating areas and close access to the hotel's Library Bar. There is also a nice Italian restaurant inside the Rittenhouse Hotel. Also, the staff here including the front desk staff, concierges and doormen are all helpful, polite and courteous. Finally, when checking in you get a few vouchers for some free drinks from the bar. Also, depending on when you check in they may have chocolate covered strawberries available, which is a nice touch. Altogether, the Rittenhouse Hotel is one of the nicest hotels in all of Philadelphia and a great place to stay for any occasion!

This review is specifically for the afternoon tea. I had been having a rough past few weeks and my husband surprised me by making reservations here for afternoon tea (hadn't had it for the past few months, since I moved to Philly from D.C.). Bonus: it was one year since my now husband proposed to me :) The place settings were beautiful and cozy and the music, softly played all my favs from the Sound of Music. (I secretly lost it at edelweiss, such a beautiful song). The harpist was a dream. I also must say the service was impeccable from the minute you step in to coat check until you leave. Servers were very attentive and knowledgeable. We got the $55 package which came with the sweet and savory tea bites and cakes platter, a glass of wine and your choice of tea in your own teapot. What I was unused to and was quite pleasantly surprised by was the "sharing" option where for $20 more you could get another tea/teapot. I am definitely used to just having to pay double price. Honestly, I loved all the little sandwiches and the scones (and accompanying spreads) were amazing but I didn't much care for any of the desserts except maybe the little fig one. I think I might have enjoyed them more if they were chilled. Not sure. Also when the server came to explain what was on all the platters, she only spoke about the scones and savory stuff and didn't mention anything about the desserts...I mean some were obviously chocolate but since they were so thorough with the rest why not? Also we opted for the sharing option because I am used to 2 of everything being brought on the platters anyway but maybe next time we might just pay double because there was only one of everything so difficult for both of us to try everything.

*This review is for the spa* Working retail really sucks the life outta you! After holiday season and working 2! Not 1 BUT 2! 50 hr work weeks back to back, I told myself that I deserved a treat! And what better way to treat yourself than with a spa day! Spa: Every inch of the spa was clean and very modern. Once you've checked in, The girl from the front desk gives you a tour of the whole spa, which is helpful! They have a relaxation room (tea and water is provided) Sauna, Steam room, Gym and a pool. They give you a locker ( more spacious than I expected) and you can make up your own 4 digit code which is nice! The robes are very warm and plush. They also give you slides which came in handy since I forgot to pack some for the pool. The women locker room is very nice, they provide you with everything you need! Hairdryer, brush, comb, deodorant, razors, you literally just have to bring yourself and a bathing suit. *Also, This is my first real spa experience. I usually go to Hand and Stone for a massage, which I never really enjoyed but w/e it did the job. Why pay $150 for H&S when you can pay the same price for a more relaxing and luxurious experience.* General Service: All the staff members I encountered were very nice and accommodating. Atmosphere: It felt very luxurious, staff and guests were all very quiet which I appreciated. The Relaxation room was my favorite part! The lighting was perfect and there was enough space for multiple people to really relax and stretch out. Massage: I had the 60 min "The Rittenhouse" massage. Colleen was great! Ive had a massage by a women before and usually it makes me very tense, but I was so calmed and relaxed that I would definitely book with her again! Pro Tip: They let you stay as long as you'd like. My massage was at 1:00, I arrived at 12 to check in, used the gym, I swam in the pool and relaxed before my appointment. It wasn't busy the day I was there which was perfect! After my massage I spent almost another 2 hours taking my sweet ole time just relaxing. Sat in the steam room for a bit, showered, did my hair, makeup, etc! I definitely recommend The Spa at The Rittenhouse!! I will be returning very soon!

They did provide the tables and chairs and set them up on Friday for us which was awesome. The employee Chris was there in the office during the wedding if we needed anything. The place is really cute and was the perfect size for our wedding. We had just the perfect amount of room for the number of table and chairs we used and enough room on the dance floor. There is a little area/ private room near the bathrooms that serves as the bridal suite and also a great place to nurse my son and for other nursing moms. The price was great and I love what the money goes towards. I would absolutely recommend this for a wedding of 50-90 guests or for other events. This would also be a great spot for bridal and baby showers. And they worked so well with our caterer. We put the photo booth in the front vestibule area. There is also a coat closet when you first walk in.

One thing that really stood out was the complimentary coat and bag check, such a nice touch and made everything feel easy and well-organized. We ordered a charcuterie board to snack on. Some parts were good, like the hummus, which was smooth and flavorful. A few of the veggies, though, seemed a little less fresh than expected, like the carrots and cucumbers, which were softer and a bit dry instead of crisp. The pita was also slightly on the dry side. It might have just been an off batch, but worth noting. Service overall was very attentive. At times, dishes and drinks were cleared a bit quickly--especially while I was in the middle of playing ping pong--but it really just reflects how prompt and on-top-of-things the staff are. On the flip side, they also help collect stray ping pong balls and keep buckets refilled, which makes the whole experience much smoother and more fun. Overall, it's a great spot for a night out with friends. You're really coming here for the ping pong and the energy, and on that front, it definitely delivers.

We came recently as paying customers on a double-date and had a great time again. Well, except for the grilled Korean chicken sandwich; that was the highlight. Other dishes like the fries and the burger, per my husband-- were just simply passable. The truffle fries were much better than the ones that showed up with my sandwich, which by the way I had no idea came with the dish. So, I paid for fries twice. The ambiance is cool, very instagrammable, but it is super loud. I don't know how anyone could talk to each other. I love that you get all three floors with a pool lounge and bridal suite on the third floor. Also, there's a neat, old elevator that people are allowed to use. Don't be fooled by the great venue pricing (especially for off season dates), they catch you with the exclusive bar and caterer. The exclusive bar package gets to be very expensive, though I will say that the service was great. Also, while the caterer is pricey, Feastivities was amazing to work with and their food was phenomenal.
