Today I stopped by the roasted nut to pick up a gift box that I won via Instagram and the service was incredible. From the moment I walked in, the employees were extremely helpful. They offered me samples of all of their nuts, so I could select 6 different flavours. The nuts were all delicious. After I selected the nuts, they offered me samples of the nut butters and showed me all the flavour options. I ended up selecting pistachio butter, chocolate hazelnut and macadamia nut butter because they were some of their more unique flavour offerings. The nuts were all delicious. Some of my favourites were barbecue baru nuts, unsalted cashews, Iranian pistachio kernels, the six mix, maple cinnamon almonds, and tamari almonds. Never have I ever had nut butter in my latte... until now! And it slaps I ordered the cashew butter latte (iced) as the barista said it was the most popular. The cashew butter, oat milk, and maple syrup create a perfectly smooth and sweet complement to the espresso. They must have used a powerful blender because there were no noticeable chunks of nut butter in the drink, only ice. The store also offers vegan gelato (presumably made from nut products), in house made nut butters, nut tasting flights (?!), shakes, and toasts. I'll have to come back sometime to try those! I love TRN! Happened to be in the area so decided to drop in, They have anything nut-related, including various nut butters and snacks. On my first visit, I picked up 100 grams of the Six Mix and another 100 gram bag of Everything But the Bagel Cashews. They have some pretty unique flavourings that I haven't seen anywhere else. Both were delicious. The former has a sweet and spicy taste; at first bite, you can taste the sweetness and then soon after the spice comes. It's hard to describe so you'll have to try it! Today was our second time visiting TRN. I had to try the Cashew Butter Latte. So, so, so good! It's a little pricy as it will cost you more than $7. A purveyor of premium nuts and in-house made nut butters and beverages which also serves as a premium coffee shop that's open later than most in the area. What a great idea for the near Queen West area! So far I've only gone there for the coffee shop part of the business but l've been happy to have them on the rare occasion when I'm in the Bellwoods neighbourhood (almost always in the evening) especially now that White Squirrel has shortened it's hours. I look forward to trying the nut butters when I'm ready to splurge. They serve drip coffee and espresso with beans from Pilot. Not my personal top choice but always one of the welcome ones, particularly where espresso based drinks are concerned. The Flat White and Latte are fairly simillar from both Heritage and Monument beans with a toasted nutty taste that's appropriate to the store's theme. The drip with Heritage for me was just OK. I have yet to encounter an owner or manger, and the one small quibble I have is none of the staff I dealt with could tell me if the nut butters can be ordered un-roasted or in custom blends. I thought it was odd such requests were not anticipated in a narrowly focused specialty shop. I could have asked by e-mail but I'll hold off until I'm ready to buy. So far I'm comfortable rating them a solid 4 -Stars just on the coffee shop and the promising concept. To get a full 5 next time I expect the nut butters should be superior to the ones from Fruit of the Land to validate the premium price. read more

This place is epic! I went to have a scoop of their vegan gelato a week ago. They have so many flavors it was very difficult to pick just one. I settle on the chocolate hazelnut. There is a lot of sugar so I was very sick afterward, but the gelato was very worth the headache and tummy ache I had afterward (I do not eat processed sugar and normally try to get no-sugar-added vegan ice cream). The service was a bit to be desired. True that I was in there on a very busy Saturday afternoon, however, I am not used to someone taking my order being very short with me especially when I know what I want to order and I am not holding up the line. The couple in front of me had a solid five minutes to come to a decision before they were helped and they had not even looked at the menu. It took them another five minutes to discuss options and pricing to settle their order. This shop is slightly small for the amount of business it churns out. However, this is not always bad as the prices can be kept low because of their high turnover and lower rent on the smaller space. Overall, I give five stars because of the quality of the food the price, the service, and the space. Even though the gentleman waiting on me was somewhat short, I can give him loads of kudos for not exploding at the people in front of me who were too busy talking about other people to decide what they wanted prior to wasting the server's time when it came their turn to order. read more

What a cute little shop! I walked in looking for a coffee and a treat and was not disappointed - they had a variety of nuts to grab in snack-sized portions, along with a bunch of different types of nut butters. Things like macadamia butter, chocolate hazelnut, etc. The weather was nice today so they also had their patio open (small, but still some seats) I noticed you could buy milks (oat milk?!?) by the litre (~$9). They also had a couple of nut-based treats, like peanut butter cookies. I even saw a few great holiday gifts, like different dark chocolate/nut bars, that were pre-wrapped and would make a great gift. The employee who worked there was even sweet enough to give us a little sample of chocolate to try! She also mentioned there would be a couple pumpin-esque flavours coming this weekend. I think this would be a great place to buy a specialty nut or nut butter, but also it is a great cafe! I was very excited to check this place out. I saw an IG ad. I walk with a walker currently so getting in the store was not the easiest. They have one of those wooden made ramps in front of the door but trying to open the door and manoeuvre the walker in was difficult. When it was my turn to be served I informed the girl I had never been there before and asked a few questions like how do you price it? $3.99 per 100g etc... Can I get 50g of something? Yes. So things I wasn't sure about I got 50g and stuff I thought I would like I got 100g. Can I get 50g of the everything cashew. Then she says anything else? I said yes I'll be getting a few different things. Yet every time she got something she said: anything else? But it was becoming more and more like she was irritated with me by her tone of voice and infliction of how she said it. I felt like I was an inconvenience. That really put me off. Once I was home and sampled everything I was happy with most of the items. I'm not a fan of the everything cashew. The granolas and other nut choices were yummy. Will I go back? I'm doubtful. I would love to go back for some macadamias nuts but I don't want to because of that server. If that server had not been so rude it would be a 5 star review. read more

If I could score them any lower I would. This is only the second negative review I have ever posted. I even wrote to the firm asking them if they would replace the product and they refused saying it was my fault for not storing the product correctly. No place on their packaging does it say to refrigerate or freeze the product. i went to have some nuts on a bag where all the bags are clearly marked with a Best Before Date of May 28th. No place on the bags does it say to refrigerate their product or freeze them as they told me in their response to my complaint.. if a firm is going to ay their products need to b frozen or refrigerated they should say so on their packaging. The issue is every last bag was filled with insects. That means insect eggs are in every bag of their products. I know insects are an issue of daily life but they did not do anything to warn me that insect eggs are present and to prevent them from hatching their nuts need to be frozen or refrigerated. i will not purchase anything from them again and will warn everyone I know not to buy their products. I gave them a chance to replace the products and they refused even though no where are there any warnings to freeze or refrigerate their products and as such the firm is wholly responsible and I gave them a chance to replace before I posted the review. The arrogance to say a consumer should know that nuts must be frozen or refrigerated is beyond belief. read more

Genuinely one of my favourite places I've accidentally stumbled across. First of all, it smelled so good like I was stepping inside a kitchen of peanut butter cookies and almond butter. That was basically what it was, but still. I didn't end up buying any of their nut butter but I did get an iced oat milk latte and COULD YOU BELIEVE IT they don't charge extra for getting nut milk. A small victory for dairy-sensitive people everywhere. I wasn't planning on getting a snack but there was a brownie-looking thing that caught my eye, if I remember correctly it was a black bean salted caramel brownie. Listen, brownies with beans in them scare me but I decided to be adventurous and try it and it was probably one of the best brownies I've ever had in my life. The consistency, the chewiness, the cocoa taste -- all perfection. And there was this salted caramel nut crunchy thing on top that just perfect offset the chocolate flavour. I will definitely be stopping by again because it's been weeks and I still can't stop thinking about it. It's pretty big inside and there's space to sit down and read or work which is great. The roasted nut has converted me. The six mix is the most delicious snack. A blend of cashews and pecans with a sweet and spicy spectrum of taste. DELICIOUS!!! Such a treat to get nuts from this place. Handy takeout window, online ordering, contactless pickup or delivery. The nuts are outstanding. We love the everything bagel flavour, six mix, chili lime, and oh gosh those salted Ontario pumpkin seeds!! Cutest little place with friendly staff and an amazing product.
