At first, I was a little skeptical. I'm a city girl through-and-through, so staying at a little country spot had me wondering. This place is amazing! The house is 1800 Victorian; however, all the amenities are updated. We stayed in the front room, Ingenue. Our window faced the street, but the property is far enough back from the street line that the sound of passing cars wasn't overwhelming. You know how most places don't have enough water pressure? This place had almost too much water pressure! LOL! I didn't care for it, but my husband loved it. Breakfast was amazing! Fruit, breakfast soup (yogurt? Idk -- but it was soooo good), and tusk-an rolls (named after the elephants ... you'll have to visit this place to find out ) Our bed was firm, but comfortable. I slept like a rock. LOL! The towels are thick hotel towels ... And I'm obsessed with peacocks -- hence, all the peacock pictures. All-in-all, we definitely will be staying again -- AND I CAN'T WAIT!!

My husband booked this place (By himself!!!...I know, impressive) We were driving up to Tahoe and were going to break the trip into 3 different nights, this was night 1. The place is not really my personal decorating style - but you cannot deny that the host and hostess are passionate about their place and providing hospitality. We had the Carousel room - which if I had counted might have had 400 Carousel tchotchkes in 500 square feet. There was a king size bed and a tub in the room, but it was a bit awkward because the coved ceiling would bump your head as you walked around it - Good thing they had not 1, but 2 "carousel themed" reminders not to bonk your head hanging from the ceiling- Wonder if a queen-sized bed might be a better choice in that room? Breakfast was delicious. See my photos. OH and the best part??? ... Oscar the cat in his little red sequined bow tie for Valentines day!

Very cute and cozy place with friendly owners and lovely food. We stayed in the carousel room, which was very comfortable and had an en suite bathroom. It also had a huge tub, which I was excited about because it was frickin' cold that weekend. Unfortunately we found that there was very little hot water - maybe because of the low outside temperatures. Barely enough to take a shower, even though there didn't seem to be other guests staying at the time. I did try to fill the tub but I got about 2 inches of warm water before it went cold. I birdbathed it for a few minutes, and then tried for more hot water but I had to give up and get out. The owner was very friendly and chatty but I wish he'd kept his political views to himself. If I want to hear about partisan politics I'd...oh, wait, I don't because I'm on vacation! Aside from the hot water and the unwanted politics, the place was very comfortable and pleasant. And the food was great!

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time in San Andreas thanks to Bill, Karen, and Groucho! The room was cozy and quaintly decorated, and the bed was super comfortable! We stayed in Gardenia, and it was such a lovely experience to wake up to sun peeking through the stain-glassed windows. The house was very open, welcoming, and bright. We had a great time hanging around the living room and the deck.

My boyfriend and I stayed here because we were going to visit the PAWS sanctuary a few blocks away. We LOVED it. Bill and Karen are so awesome, sweet, and wonderful. Breakfast was delicious and they will cater to your needs ( vegan, vegetarian, gluten free). We stayed in the Safari Room. Bring ear plugs (I'm a light sleeper) and this room is directly below the living room of the main house. Oh, and their two cats and dog are the sweetest!

    Fruit soup! Devine!

Robin's Nest is a lovely spot. 5 star food and hosts. Karen accommodated our every wish. We were in town for a wedding and took over 1/2 the inn. We were comfortable and felt welcomed. Breakfast was generous, beautifully presented and delicious. Thank you, Karen and Bill!

There was also coffee in the room and a full coffee/tea bar in the dining area. The facility had a library den full of interesting titles, puzzles, and games. We LOVED the breakfasts. The menu included many choices: french toast, waffle, omelet, potatoes, veggies, eggs to order, bacon, toast, english muffin and fruit. The portions were extremely generous! The staff were all great including owner Michael who was very attentive to questions we had. We've also stayed at another of his properties (The Victoria Inn) which was also lovely. We definitely plan to be back and I can hardly wait! While we were in the area we ate at Jesus' Restaurant (Mexican across the street), Firewood (delicious pizza), and coffee at Aria. We also enjoyed hard cider at Indigeny Reserve! I definitely recommend staying at the Dunbar!

This place is a cozy, green oasis in one of the cutest towns in America, and the value is incredible. They let us have the run of the place for the whole weekend while we hosted and set up. The staff made it feel like home -- such kind and lovely people. Breakfast for our wedding party was included. Anything we asked for, they made it happen, and we were able to control every aspect of the event: bar, catering, etc. Another perk I didn't anticipate was a 360 view of the venue from the bridal suite, which allowed me to keep an eye on everything while I was getting ready. The suite is basically an apartment, with a full kitchen we were able to cater our rehearsal dinner out of. Most of our guests were able to stay the weekend and walk to the venue from their hotels (they make it easy with their sister hotel the Victoria Inn and associated rentals). Our wedding was a dream that we're sad to wake up from. If this place calls to you, do not hesitate to book.

Our suite (one of five) was absolutely stunning. The Innkeeper (the first of three amazing Innkeepers) had the gas fireplace lit, and wonderful instrumental music playing, as she showed us our suite. Each room at the inn (14 rooms total) are different. The website shows pictures of each room so I thought I had a pretty good idea of what to expect. I knew I did not want a swinging bed so we went with John's room. They tell you to park on the street and come to the front office to check in and then they show you where to park. On a Friday afternoon the street is pretty full and the spaces are very tight, but we did find a space. When you get to the house, there is no office or any place to go. You press the ring camera and someone walks from behind the house out to greet you. The gentleman walks you to your room and the key (on a large keychain) is hanging in the door. He walks you in and tells you a little bit about the room. In our case he showed us how to use the fire, the mini-split (Heating / HVAC) and where to park. The parking lot is behind the Inn and it is very small. It does not have 14 spaces, and if it is full you have to try and find parking in the alley. Because of this we decided not to move as we were able to park in the lot and we were scared to lose parking. When we took ourbags to the room, I realized that there is very little counter or storage space, not only in the room but in the bathroom as well. In the bathroom you have very little space to put your items. The "closet" that has no door is also very small. The head of the bed is about 4 feet from the toilet and you are looking right at it. The bathroom is pretty old and very pink. The towels are not very soft but the water did get hot pretty quickly. The bed itself is very uncomfortable. The mattress is very hard and every time one of you moves you both feel it. We did not sleep well either night. In this room, there was a mini keurig coffee machine and they provided coffee and creamers. There is also a small mini fridge. There are 2 chairs in front of the fireplace and a chair and small couch at the end of the bed. There are also a lot of books. With all of these things in the room, there is very little walking space and from the other side of the bed to get to the bathroom (especially in the dark) is like an obstacle course to not stub your toes or knees. The property is very quiet and there is an ice machine outside by the front lawn. However there is no breakfast or food available at the Inn. I really was hoping to have a great time, but by Saturday afternoon we were ready to leave. I just did not want to be there anymore. My husband convinced me to stay as we already had dinner reservations for that night, so we did. When you leave, you place the key outisde in the door handle and leave the property.
