    King Bed in Cottage #1
    Christie B.

Booked a Cottage here for a quick Mother/Daughter getaway weekend. We'd never visited Sutter Creek but had heard great things. We booked Cottage #1 for one night and it was nice. Furnishings were modern and comfortable. And I loved the fresh warm scones that get delivered in the mornings to your door step. Only issue is they don't stay to warm when it's freezing outside like it was during our stay. We also got breakfast with our stay and that too is delivered to your door with plastic wrap over it. This was pretty lack luster in my opinion. We got the Avocado Toast and Yogurt with berries and granola. It held us over till lunch but wasn't especially memorable. I found the "closet/coffee bar" to be odd. I hung my clothes up and they covered the coffee maker. Odd concept. But the bathroom was nice and the shower/tub was HUGE. They even have nice robes to wear. From what I've heard, this is the nicest hotel this tiny town has to offer however I was a little taken back that the cottage was over $300 a night! Rooms in San Francisco, Napa and Sonoma run about this price so I was kinda surprised that this little town was charging so much. Although it was a holiday weekend so maybe that's part of it. Customer service was great. I loved that they have wine time after check in and the guy was nice enough to refill my glass. Bonus points! Over all I would stay here again but I think I'd try to book earlier to see if we can get a room inside the hotel instead of a cottage. The town is ADORABLE so we'll be back.

Glass of wine on the balcony.

Cancel that expectation of frills and lace and foo-foo rooms decorated with flowers, stuffed animals, and odd mismatched antique furniture. Unless your granny is a hip modern urban dweller this is nothing like staying at your grandmother's house. The lovely old building on the north end of downtown hints a bit of what lies inside. The entire interior has been completely remodeled into a sleek chic urban space. The soaring lobby is decorated with mid-century furnishings and magnificent wood and metal architectural details. Pieces of old furniture and repurposed doors blend with the ultra-modern decor. Our room was clean, comfortable and very quiet. The amenities were upscale - fluffy towels, soft linens, numerous large pillows, in-room fridge, fireplace, air conditioner, fabulous rainforest shower, and a HEATED bathroom floor. The decor matched the eclectic style of the lobby. The repurposed doors for the headboard and shelves was a lovely contrast to the metal table and bathroom counter and the clean modern lines of the room. Our room came with a small balcony with cafe table and chairs - the perfect spot for sipping a glass of wine. Wine screw and wine glasses are provided. Chocolates on the pillow and a journal for entering your thoughts was a nice carry-over from B&B tradition. Fresh scones delivered to your door in the morning, hot coffee in the hall and a glass of wine in the lobby all are those little touches that make the whole stay special. Breakfast at Elements is included, but we did not partake as we had a previously planned breakfast engagement. Check-in and check-out were seamless, the host was cordial and professional. We are looking forward to a return visit to Sutter Creek. The Hanford House Inn will be our lodging of choice.

Wow! Upgraded upon check in to our surprise to the cottage, beautiful!

This host is very thoughtful, nothing lacking in our room. Hospitality at its best. Warm scone and breakfast delivery, such a delicious treat - thank you!

Great windows and deck to enjoy the gardens.

Our wine getaway at Hanford House was everything we hoped for. We stayed in Cottage 2 which was spacious and airy with a nice seating area and fantastic jacuzzi bathtub. The location of our entrance and deck were wonderful for not getting too much direct sunlight and the grounds were beautiful. We were visited many times by the hotel cat, as we enjoyed coffee or wine on the deck. Breakfast at Element did not disappoint and neither did early morning scones delivered to our door. We also enjoyed morning walks around Main St and the cute neighborhoods surrounding the cottage. I would highly recommend!

We truly love exploring Gold Country which is always rich with history. The Imperial Hotel is a hidden gem and I can't wait to come back. Built in 1879, but restored several times over the years the Imperial Hotel was a perfect place to grab lunch. We will definitely have to consider staying the next time we are up this way. We sat outside on the most perfect day that was a little breezy but with the perfect amount of sunshine! They have a great outdoor patio with fire pits for cooler days. We ordered the Buttermilk Crispy Chicken Sandwich with lettuce, pickled onion, aioli, and herb fries. Delicious! The chicken was really tender and the aioli was on point. We also ordered a harvest salad that had beets and sweet potatoes. It was also really flavorful. We ordered a Sauvignon Blanc and the Cinsault Blend. Both were wonderful and even better since we were able to try these local wines.

It's located in a charming off the beaten path historic Gold Country town in Amador Co. that exudes charm in every direction. Amador City is rural and hasn't changed much in many years. The Imperial is a historic hotel with overnight rooms to rent and a dining room/bar. I came for dinner and am so glad I did. Although I made a reservation, it didn't seem necessary, but I would, just in case. The interior is so warm and cozy, and the historic elements make for a beautiful backdrop. We had a nice table for two against the brick wall that was intimate and yet connected to the ambiance of the room. Our server, a delightful woman, was friendly and professional. I started with a Pick Axe Freezer Martini with gin, and oh my gosh, it was a powerhouse of flavor and exuberance. It had a delightful wallop. It comes with a round cut glass side tray of things to add- olives, onion, etc. for one's individual taste. We had the bread service with warm, freshly made bread and a sun-dried tomato, basil, and garlic sauce for spreading or dipping. DELICIOUS! For the first course, I had a bowl of the clam chowder that was superb, creamy, delicate, and nicely mixed with bacon, carrots, croutons, etc, yet seemed devoid of clams. I won't hold it against them as the soup's consistency and taste were magnificent. There were two specials, a rack of lamb or a tuna poke bowl. I had heard that the scallops were very good, but they were substituting shrimp that day. I chose the lamb, and my dining partner had the poke bowl. Both were excellent. The lamb was fresh, nicely crusted, and cooked perfectly. The only criticism is a couple of times I tasted a small clump of salt, similar to Kosher salt. Since I use little salt in my own cooking, it really hits me when it's not well integrated into a dish and/or overpowering. Overall, the meal was excellent. It was relaxed, interesting, and an adventure into history, too. This place really has it down, and I highly recommend getting there for a very nice meal amongst the historical delights.

It is very well appointed and the owner did not skimp on the appointments. The sheets are at least 600 thread and the house is fully stocked. I found this gem on Air BNB and the owner, Robert, was very patient and accommodating with me. And let me tell y'all that I can be a pill when making business deals. So I looked for a place near Jackson, CA a month ago because I knew I was going to be on assignment there for a week. I did not want to stay in a hotel because I love being home and since I could not travel back and forth to my house in Sac, I decided to get me a place where I could at least cook when I wanted to and take a long, hot shower at my leisure. And I did not want to be looking for a wireless signal through the walls of a hotel. Bottom line I wanted my own space bigger than a postage stamp. So I looked at a few places and settled on The Bungalow because it looked cute and rustic and was 10 steps away from downtown & Main Street. From the beginning Robert was VERY responsive. He was also two things that are a challenge to be with me--PATIENT & ACCOMMODATING. I asked questions from the beginning about where the house was, what was provided, what was included, and could I get a reduced rate because I was staying a whole week. He patiently answered all my questions and then went on to accommodate me by telling me about the city/town where I would be staying. He also relayed that I would be the first one to stay in the house and that I could check in early and check out late if need be. Also, he gave me a rate! So I kept in touch but did not book. A week before I was due to come out I texted Robert about booking. He was PATIENT & ACCOMMODATING again and was very amenable to my terms. I even added a guest at the last minute and it was not a problem. I did; however, change my check in time and wanted to arrive early. He accommodated that as well but told me he would be in San Francisco and would leave the key for me at his Inn. I booked and it charged me the full rate. I contacted Robert to let him know and he graciously worked out the kinks as we were both new to Air BNB. He asked me to give him time and what else could I be but PATIENT & ACCOMMODATING y'all! Great, great guy. So I get to the house and it is cute. Perfectly represented online but no key. I went to the Inn and it was not there either. Turns out that the housekeeper had left the key in the house and the back door open for me. No worries. Get to the house again and Amazing it was! Beautiful. Robert calls on the house line to make sure I am good and that did it for me. The only reason I have not given 5 stars is because there are two ceiling fans in the house that are old and the shakes hard when used. Plus they do not go with the decor of the house. This house is a great mix of modern and antique and it looks great. Ceiling fans are old and seem a little loose but they work. The second bedroom does not have a ceiling fan and could use one as well. What is also awesome about his space is that every last need is catered to. Both showers, oh yes did I mention two en suite bedrooms? Both showers included soaps, shampoos, and conditioners. The kitchen has EVERYTHING! Down to the seasonings for food in the cabinets! The kitchen is fully stocked, even with wine glasses! This is wine country and Robert thought of everything, or Mrs. Robert did I am sure. There are extra towels, a washer and dryer that comes with detergent and bleach y'all! Outdoor seating is provided on the front and back porches and there is private parking for one car in front of the house. One other complaint is that there is no choice to pull a shade down on the front door. The front door is beautiful and has a beautiful glass insert that looks out into the street and you can see in. I had to put up foil to cover it as I like to move around and do not like knowing someone could be on the street seeing me thusly. The Bungalow is so beautifully appointed and well thought out that these few mismatched things are of no issue. It does not come with housekeeping and I am not the type to even want housekeeping when in a hotel. Hence the reason for me wanting a private home. This home is not lived in and is rented and that is a great thing. I love The Bungalow and will be back to explore the town and stay there. Robert has not come over to meet me as of yet but I will make sure that I go and meet him before I leave. Great property, great owner, great week. I will update this review when I leave.
