I had high hopes for the Rock Yard. Just off the highway and directly on my path to this area of Texas,there aren't many opportunities to "eat out" at decent restaurants. The Rock Yard popped up at this increasingly busy intersection of two small country highways. After a day of kicking around on the ranch,my grandson and I were hungry. So,I decided now was the perfect time to try Rock Yard. I'm not going to spend too much time on this review as I don't believe they earned it. My experience was less than rewarding for one primary and I consider mortal sin,pre-cooked hamburger patty. Our food was brought out way too fast after ordering to have been cooked from scratch. Not sure why anyone building a customer base would take this approach. We both finished our burgers. We ordered the Hangover Cure consisting of a substantial patty,bacon,over easy egg( also seemed precooked) and a small container of queso. I will probably return and give them a second chance. They have a dedicated pizza oven and it would be nice to pick one up on the way to the farm sometime. Till then,I'll be disappointed in the average burger that could have been great read more

I was skeptical based on the bad reviews are showing, but I quickly realized it wasn't accurate, this place impressed me a lot! Ate Sunday night around 6 pm. They were hosting an annual fund raiser for seven local elementary schools. Great restaurant simply for that reason. Anyway, this was my second time here. I really like the place. Service was quick! Place was busy but kitchen was humming. The Patty Melt was good. The bread was over whelming but taste made up for it. Wife ate the sliders. Really good. We have been to The Rock Yard a number of times. The food has always been "reliable" in that it is decent quality and decent price. Nothing to really write home about, just reliable. Went yesterday for our wedding anniversary to get a pizza (it was what we had on our first date 40 years ago). We were really, really disappointed. They put almost no cheese on the pizza and the crust was still soft/slimmy. All the toppings would just slide off when picking up the pizza by hand as we had to do because all of the slice scoops were dirty so they had none to provide. Most of the toppings from the middle half of the pizza ended up staying on the pizza pan. It was a sloppy mess. We did not send it back as we have seen the stories of what can happen to food when a cook takes issue with having their product sent back. We didn't want the risk of the "extras" added to our meal. I have never sent a meal back in any restaurant, but honestly have had very few instances where it would have been warranted. Service was good as it typically is. The wait staff are always attentive and they got the usual 25% we typically leave for good service. read more

Lots of choices at the bar for alcoholic/beer. We ordered the chips & queso (it was ok) I ordered the Rock the Yard Supreme pie, it was well cooked well (brick oven)and had good flavor. Most importantly it wasn't short on toppings. My son ordered the Buffalo wings/fries.
