I'm ashamed to say that I have lived in Anna for five years and never made my way out to Westmintser that lies on the Anna border, much less Gar Hole. Boy, I didn't know what I was missing out on! I don't care for loud good music or large crowds (which Gar Hole is famous for) so I opted to go here on an early quiet Sunday morning when I knew it would not be busy. Gar Hole reminds me of the Texas I used to know. Very Texas small town feel. Very friendly staff, Texas pride everywhere and just an overall comfortable old school welcoming feeling. As I walked through the entrance doors, I was immediately greeted and welcomed by a gentleman in a t-shirt and shorts and a straw hat (whom I assumed was the owner as I later watched him checking on his staff and tending to obvious other frequent customers...a very polite owner/operator in t-shirts and shorts greeting customers on a Sunday morning is a very good sign in my book!). I was greeted at the bar by a very friendly and kind soul (Sorry I can't recall her name). I ordered two drinks (not at the same time!). They were made very well and generous with the pour. I placed an order for two taco orders to go. They were made very fresh and priced quite reasonably. Taste was spot-on! Overall, this place has it all. History, service, food quality and Texas Charm. (This place has a lot of interesting history. Look at other reviews or Google for more details.) I'm so glad I came here. I hope to frequent more often. The overpriced and lame big chain stuff popping up in and around Anna is quite frankly, embarrassing. This spot is a solid 6. But *yelp will only allow me 5! read more

All I can saw is this place is a destination!!! A must visit destination! The food is awesome, the history and story the owner tells is amazing. Food was mediocre. I had a fried chicken sandwich and it was tenders on a bun. They serve those greasy skin on fries. Service was fine. Atmosphere was wonderful. Live music during the day that was kind of a jam. Every now and then another guy would join. They played country which was perfect considering where we were. Loved the fries, especially. When my city-boy a** walked in, it felt like I had stepped onto the set of Yellowstone. But the other patrons were nice and friendly liked you'd expect in Texas. I enjoyed looking at all the historical memorabilia on the walls. Plenty of tv to watch the various basketball games. Found this unique biker watering hole based on the 4.8 score as we were in the area and gave it a try. Ordering is done at the bar and the food is brought out to your table. There are 3 different seating areas, we opted for inside for the a/c. Ordered chips & queso, which also came with salsa. I thought the chips were hard (borderline stale) but the queso was better than standard restaurant processed cheese dip. We both got the burgers. My double was cooked better than her single (which was well done with burnt edges) and was tasty. I upgraded to tots which were cooked perfectly to my well done request. There were minor pricing anomalies/error causing some irritation/confusion as their system nickels & dimes for adding cheese or tots. Ended up paying almost $50 for two with zero alcohol, so very pricey for what you get. Interesting history, location, friendly staff and owner...but we won't be back. read more

Went up to the Gar Hole to see a friends band play (Drink Up Band). I never would have discovered this place on my own, but I'm sure glad I did! Great burgers and fries, great people, very friendly, outdoor area is set up nicely (see pics), and live music inside or outside. It's the perfect hole-in-the-wall on the town square bar. Found the perfect cheeseburger spot off the beaten path. Amy was super friendly and knowledgeable of the building's interesting past. Burger was cooked perfectly and fries and onion rings were also freshly made. Beer on tap was ice cold and fresh, too! Live music on weekends, we will be back to enjoy! I love this place there is so much history and as every one says the burgers are so amazing I could come back just for the burgers! And the fries,onion rings,and tacos are just great. There is not a single wrong thing even the customer service is just as good as the food.
