Went to lunch today at Tracks and had a real good meal. Today's special was a burger and fries (or other side so I had onion rings). Kelsey was our server and she did a great job. Drinks quickly arrived and our meals appeared soon after. Hamburger meat was a thick and juicy patty and the bun was soft and fresh (buns and desserts are provided by Mom's Bakery). Everything looks really delicious and the portions are large. Some menu items to note that get a 10 out of 10 are the quesadillas, the chicken fried steak, fried pickles and salads. The service was really good. If I was going to give some critiques, I would say that having more sides to choose from might be great such as sweet potato casserole, squash casserole, broccoli, rice casserole, maybe collard greens They have a lot of very typical southern dishes, but they're missing the vegetable plate with a lot of sides read more

I dined with my family at Tracks restaurant yesterday and the people that work there are amazing. I had my husband and my granddaughter and my two great granddaughters and my great grandson with us. Once we ordered my great granddaughter got very upset and didn't want to sit down and we couldn't calm her so when they brought the food we asked for boxes to go. They went and got the boxes and we got everything boxed up and left. And they were so nice about it. And when we got home the food was still warm and it was fantastic. We stopped here for lunch on our way to camp at Burns Run East Campground. The was plenty of space in the parking lot to park our trailer. The special of the day was the chicken fried steak dinner with 2 sides for $10.00. That was the best chicken fried steak that I've had in a long time. It was so tender, I could cut it with a fork. My father loves their train that runs around while you're dining! Large food portions, service was quick, unique dining experience!!!

We dine-in so that we can spent time together. Your blue plate lunches were cold because your server was absent mentally and physically and displayed a bad attitude because we had to do her job for her. It took 1 hour and 45 minutes for lunch. Specifically, we had cold green beans, gravy and entrees. Obviously, it had sat as "order up" too long. We were seated right away, and we waited a long time for the server to take our order. When she brought our drinks she forgot the straws and walked off saying she would be back to take our order. When she took our order, we asked for straws. When we finally got our cold food, we had to flag her down each time for: extra napkins -twice - because she only gave us 1 napkin each time, condiments, drink refills, and to-go containers one at a time because she couldn't engage herself enough to give us what we needed by seeing what was left. Then, we had to flag her down for dessert. She sat down our cake without dessert forks or napkins again. (She had removed our dinner forks previously). Then, a trip for to-go containers for the cake, and then we had to flag her down for the check - and a bag. Then this server made another three trips to pay the bill. We paid with cash and the change she brought back was big bills. Really? We left a small tip but I doubt she got the hint. read more

Visiting a church in Sherman and asked some of the locals where we could go that might be different in this part of town. They mentioned this place just west of 75. The name comes from a rail road theme. Lots of decor associated with railroad tracks including model trains, photos, advertising, etc. Place is a little crammed with the tables around our party of 7 but everybody pretty friendly and food pretty good. One of my friends tried the fried green tomatoes appetizer and they came out in triangle shapes. Tasted mostly like something fried but I thought it lacked the tangy/sour flavor. It was there a bit but I feel like I've had better. Soup of the day was taco soup so ordered a cup of it. Wasn't really soupy and was more a liquid chili with melted cheese and crunchy strips in it. Flavor ok but slightly bland. I also ordered the chili burger but with mayonnaise instead of mustard. This burger is meant to be eaten with utensils as they put a bottom bun with the onions and mayo, then the patty, and then a very large amount of chili. The bun is really oversized so I just left the top bun to the side and it was plenty of food. You have to pay an extra $2 to get friends or onion rings on the side and that to me is a bit annoying. Just price it right and give people a choice one or the other. Wife ordered the chicken friend chicken. Had a different taste which perhaps was the marinade that was in before they fried it? Any case I wouldn't order that. My daughter ordered the country fried steak and that was pretty good. Looked like it was either nicely pounded out like you're supposed to (or some places put it through a grinder) but was tender and flavorful. They do have a few keto-friendly items on the menu including a grilled chicken and of course salads. My buddy's wife ordered a bun-less burger and side of tomatoes instead of fries, but came out without the bun both covered with fries all around. But with a comfort food place certainly it's reasonable to temper expectations when it comes to special diets. Price is reasonable for the food and the city. Staff was super friendly so I'd be up for a visit if we are back out there again but I wouldn't make a special trip out to do it. read more

Was in Sherman and placed a to go order to take home and I ordered 3 chicken fried steak sandwiches with onion rings......the sandwiches were decent but I have never in my life eaten more disgusting onion rings....they were completely limp, barely had any breading at all and were greasy greasy GREASY. They at least tried to make them fresh, but in this case the frozen onion rings would have been 10 times better. We all 3 threw them in trash and ate potato chips. read more

Love the baked potato! So yummy, service is nice ! The place is never dirty, like ever.

My husband and I went here for the first time the other tonight and I must say we had the best waitress, Maycee. She was friendly, courteous, and was overall a wonderful waitress. As far as our food, we both thought our hamburgers were very average and would give them a 3. We didn't think anything was too spectacular about them in the arena of taste. My husband really enjoyed the fried pickles and he said he'd give them a 5, I'd give them a 4 in taste. He liked that the pickles were lightly battered and not overly greasy and the pickle flavor came Thru. I was impressed with how many were in the basket, it was a good size order. He thought his Tater Tots were about a 3 1/2 or 4. He liked that they tasted fresh and not like they'd been sitting under a heat lamp or twice cooked. He thought the onion rings were sweet and not overly greasy and would give them a 4 1/2, for me I'd give them a 4. Overall, we had a good dining experience. This place has gone downhill. I used to eat here often a few years ago and it was really good. The last month I've been 3 times and the food isn't very good, the wait time is way too long, and the staff is pretty rude. I heard a waitress yell across the restaurant to another staff member about someone leaving a $5 tio. Saying they look like they can rip more and they are disgusting people. We hadn't been to Tracks in a bit and decided to try it on a Sunday. We were so happy with how good our food was, we went back the following Sunday. The service has always been good as well as the food delicious. We ordered sandwich's and fries. The club was beautifully made as was my BLT. The fries are always good and they didn't disappoint. We will be eating here more often and are thankful to have them open on Sunday. read more

During my time at Austin College, on Sunday the dining hall didn't serve dinner, so this was one of the places we went to. The burgers and fries were always delicious and freshly cooked, and in those years, the burgers were all you could eat for around $6. read more

I came here with a group from church, after service. The service was good as was the food, but the atmosphere was less than satisfactory. As the father of two little boys, my sons do not need to be looking at the butt cheeks of a server. If this is a family restaurant then there should be a higher level of modesty. Arrived at Tracks at 5:30 on a Thursday evening with the family. First thing we noticed were all of the cars. This was a good sign. The bad sign was, after entering it was 90% senior citizens. We were greeted and seated immediately. loved the decor. Lots of cool "train stuff" to look at on the walls. A model train makes its way around the dining room. One thing missing is some sort of music. For as many people in their dining room, it was awkwardly quietly with only the sound of people chewing. I'm assuming that's what happens when you eat with someone you've been married to for 40+ years. I started with the chicken tortilla soup. It was okay, pretty average. Chicken, corn, tomatoes, cheese. Only thing lacking were the black beans. I opted for the jalapeño Swiss burger and fries. At first, the burger looked like all bun and little meat, however, the buns are homemade, so when you squeeze the burger on your first bite everything was proportionate. Fries were hot and fresh. Final word: I expected way worse. But, it's not the owners fault the seniors flock to Tracks. The burger was good, the service (Brandy) was attentive, clean dining room and restrooms, and reasonably priced. I don't see any reason to give them less than a 5 Star. read more
