I've been to a few rolfers in the past years. My Iyengar yoga teacher recommended Manny. He is the best I've encountered so far. He is very knowledgeable and helped me a lot with the sessions. When I first started my 10 series with Manny I was a bit skeptical because I had already been going to physical therapy for 8 weeks to help relieve back pain and was seeing very little if any progress. I have scoliosis and Manny is very familiar with and understands the strain it can but on your body, which is why I initially chose to see him. After a few sessions my pain was significantly decreased and my overall posture was greatly improved. I have been to a real certified rolfer and was very happy with results, because it is about aligning body with muscles and joints after I injured my knees. I decided to try a different person just to see if it was any better. This is not real Rolfing, it was more a deep tissue massage that was very expensive. I needed to go and spend another $140 to my one and only rolfer to fix me. People who don't know better, certified rollers have to have the proper training and education. Highly recommend! Manny helped reintroduce me to the inner workings of my body, and showed me the root causes of my pain and discomfort related to my back and foot pain. I recently finished my 10 part series with Manny & am more than happy with my results as well as the consistency I have seen even after not being back for a few weeks now. I am a 19 year old who dances 25-30 hours each week so I have to be accountable for my body. I also have very severe scoliosis with the apex of the curvature being 47 degrees. I would recommend this to anyone with pain or just anyone who is unhappy with their posture in general but would highly recommend it to anyone who is active, has scoliosis, or both, like myself. Scoliosis isn't something that can be fixed like other problems people may come in with but by working with my Manny my posture has been greatly improved and I have learned valuable skills in how to compensate for my crooked spine. Additionally Manny has scoliosis and lives an active lifestyle so he is very understanding and has great advice to offer. As far as dancing and movement goes, I have had better success with placement and how to use my body as efficiently as possible. My proprioception has improved and overall just have a greater awareness of my body. This would definitely benefit any athlete who wants to perform better and improve their practice. Manny is a Master at what he does, and has the highest level of training and certification available in Rolfing. This was one of the many reasons I picked him over other rolfing practitioners in OC. He is very knowledgable about the human body, as well as nutrition, which was an added benefit. You definitely need to feel comfortable about who you select for this practice, because you spend time with them over the course of the series of treatments, and Manny is someone you can feel really comfortable around. He genuinely cares about his patients, the progress they are making..... (he takes photos of you at the end of each session), and therefore, you can see your progress over time. It's not uncommon to grow 2 or more inches in height, as a result of these sessions, because your joints and skeletal system gets elongated and is not as compressed. Manny is also a coach and a great cheerleader. who makes you feel as though you're not alone in the journey towards good posture and a "looser" more nimble physique. An expert rolfing practitioner can change not only your body, but influence change in your life. Manny is a true professional! He takes great pride in his craft and it shows. I have received massages and body work for 30 years, mostly to treat back issues and other injuries. Manny used new techniques I had not previously been exposed to that provided real and lasting relief/healing.
