Awesome food plus awesome service plus chill vibes equals a happy William. If you're going through the Parkersburg area remember to stop by here.

Great little place, with any thing you could imagine on a hot dog! We chose chili and nacho cheese. The meat was flavorful, with the chili and cheese a great touch! We also split a basket of chili fries that were wonderful! The most incredible part were the root beer mug slushies, so refreshing! I highly recommend coming here as the food and drink are wonderful, service is great, and the staff are extremely friendly!

Out of the way place for lunch on our migration north. We had a kitchen dog and an sos dog with sweet sauce. Fried beans and picked as a side. Of course the slushy root beer. I really liked the open top toasted bun. Everything was very good, order came quickly and friendly staff. Indoor and outdoor seating. Plenty of parking. Drive through available. Lots of local service vehicles in line so you know it is good!!!! Open 11-4 Tues- Sat. I highly recommend.

Root beer slush--like A&W used to do it!

The Root Beer Shack. Always a good idea. Classic West Virginia style hotdogs along with lots of extras you didn't know you needed--fried pickles, fried mac and cheese. The friendly staff works hard to crank out and insane number of grilled-to-perfection English buns. There's a drive-thru as well as indoor and outdoor seating--basic diner vibe inside. Root Beer Shack never disappoints.

I love this Hot Dog and Root beer shack in Parkersburg WV and highly recommend it and will definitely be going back!!! There is NO dining inside right now due to Covid-19 but you can call ahead or just show up at drive thru and that's what I do There are so many hot dog Varieties to chose from...but I go with the Sweet SOS and Spicy SOS with a large frothy root beer to go. They serve them ENGLISH Bun style and the chili or sauce as some call it is killer. I like both, the sweet and the spicy... They also have dogs with peanut butter...I am not brave to try it yet but cashier says they sell a lot of them!!!! Now me, a lot of peanut butter on hot dogs would be to sell one, so not sure if her and my standards are the same!!! If in the area, google map directions...and thank me later!!!!

Stopped by to try the hotdogs and had a great bowl of chili. Family friendly for all.

Everything we had was delicious! The service was friendly and fast as well. The Mackey Mountain Burger is amazing. 2 grilled cheese for the bun. Root Beer Slush is a must.

Great place to get lunch, best hotdogs in Parkersburg by far! Only downside is they close early around 4pm and I'm a late eater.

First off sorry no photos, for some reason I forgot my phone in the car…read more Trust me the experience here will be memorable. First beers were the Coffee Stout and Cellblock 304. Along with Garlic Cheesecurds. Then as I had teased Gabby our severer I would follow coffee with donuts. I had the Donut Stout and my spouse had the Mexican Lager. So of course we had to have the Bavarian Petrels to go with it. Of course by this time the creative ideas start to flow so our next choice was a beer we shared a 1/4 of coffee stout and 3/4 of donut stout. Oh my! Good thing I am retired or this would my coffee choice each morning! We both loved the mix and then I talked to Zach about how I hoped both will be available in January when I am back in the area. He liked my input or talked like he did. I am so glad that we have a local brewery for when family come in but that we can stop by and say Hi. So when it comes to service it was excellent, thank you Gabby. When it it comes to the food it was awesome and the decor. I still want the lights in my home or at least may she shed if my spouse won't rewire the house.

Unfortunately, that wasn't the case this time. It wasn't very busy, especially for a Friday night, but service still felt like an afterthought. Our bartender/server seemed much more focused on pouring herself beers and chatting than paying attention to customers. There were two people behind the bar who were also serving tables, but most of the time it felt like they were more interested in hanging out with their regulars than checking on guests. They were out of traditional wings, which was disappointing. My husband said the boneless wings weren't very good. The homemade salsa and beer cheese were actually the highlights and were both really good. The rest of the food missed the mark. My chicken Caesar wrap came with soggy chicken and tasted like it had been drenched in Italian dressing instead of Caesar. The fries were limp and soggy. We spent what felt like forever trying to get someone's attention just to ask for ranch so we could add some flavor. The beer itself was decent, and I'd probably come back for that. But based on this visit, I wouldn't come back for the food, and I definitely wouldn't go in expecting good service.
