One out of two places in town that I will go to for hot dogs. The food is always excellent. It holds up surprisingly well if you get food to go. I live about 10 minutes from Der Dog and my food is still hot and perfect when I get home. The store itself is very clean and it is so easy to relax there. And the staff is absolutely amazing, attentive and helpful. Sometimes, they will close early if they aren't busy. I showed up after they had closed early and they still made my food and were so nice about it. I only have one consideration... I wish they didn't close early because I never know if they will be open when I got there. So if I'm in a hurry, I won't even consider going there. But when it's open?? I would like to call out the woman with all the kids that acted like animals when I was there yesterday 3/15/25. Apparently, because your husband is employed there you felt entitled to let your kids behave like savages. Im all for kids laughing and having fun. What you were allowing though, was completely over the top bad behavior. They were screaming and crawling all over the seats as people were trying to pay their bill, and people waiting to be seated. You watched them and said nothing. Just because your man works there doesn't mean you can allow your kids to overrun the place. Stop being a lazy parent and teach your kids respect and correct them. Your lack of care for other patrons made for a bad dining experience for many of us. Our waitress was very nice and polite. The food came out promptly but was mid. Nothing special. And after that experience trying to pay my bill while the employee and his spouse let his heathens loose, I won't be back. read more

I stopped here to grab me a Hot Dog!!! This was my first time here and to be truthful I stopped because of the previous Yelp reviews about the Hot Dogs! I love a good dog!! I ordered a soda and a Hot Dog with everything..and everything in my book is sauce/chili with onions, slaw and mustard with myself adding the salt and pepper. I have to admit the place is crowded but that is always a good sign! The Hot Dog was really good! I would definitely go here again and get another Dog!!! The lady at the register when I told her it was my first time gave me a 10 % discount without me even hinting for it.. that was extremely nice! The staff was friendly and the waitress recommend the Burgers/cheeseburgers here. She said everyone seemed to really enjoy them. I like a good burger but I am more of Hot Dog person, that's what draws me in to spend my money! I will definitely go here again!! I am completely baffled as to why people come here. It is small and crowded and the food is typical bar/fast-food quality. It is a wanna-be Dog Haus (a franchise in California) but it is far more like gas station food. The average age of patrons when I have been there is about 65, and the food is basically catered to them - bland, dull, and predictable. The owner is shady, the touchy-feely type and continually wanted to touch people like Biden. Very creepy. The staff was non-existent and had to be flagged down several times just to order and get another drink. This place belongs in a food court or a gas station. Seriously. read more

The pecan pie is homemade, and they cook steaks on a charcoal grill giving a Ma & Pa's home prepared taste! We stopped here on a whim, were just passing through and a hot dog place sounded cool. I got a standard hot dog meal which was good. My husband got the rib meal which was on special and WOW! The ribs were fall off the bone tender with an amazing, tangy bbq sauce. The baked beans were out of this world- sweet, tangy and with a little spice. We were told that everything is house made and the ribs slow cook for 6-8 hours My husband was getting protective of his food so I had to lay off his plate. :) . I found the doghouse to be a unique place. Spoke to the owner who would quiz you on general trivia and if he succeeded he would give you a free meal. Meals were well cooked and had decentdecent proportions with a nice seating area. Owner was proud of his restaurant and would help wait tables to assist his staff. read more

The vibes here are great! My grandparents love this place so much that they go here every Tuesday for the special (soup beans and cornbread). Sometimes the grandchildren (we are all in our early twenties plus one teenager) join them for really tasty lunch here. I had the creamed chicken and it was so good. The bologna sandwich is really thick, but yum. Every one of the staff seem happy to be there. Customers are happy to be there as well! read more

It was a little slow in spots because the kitchen was backed up, but that was OK. They were pushing it out as fast as they could. I ordered a grilled pepper and onions on hot dog and also added some sauce and cheese .... exceptional. I held back so I could try one of their special desserts, a hot fudge bomb. It was a chocolate muffin warmed up and covered with hot fudge. In addition, it had two scoops of vanilla ice cream and a couple piles of whipped cream. Review for der dog haus 7.30.11: der dog haus is a small local pub with a decent atmosphere. It has 4 zones to sit in and we took a alcove between 2 of those zones. It was decent to sit in. not too many bad smells. Lower ceilings though so not good for really tall people or claustrophobes. However, the place was clean and comfy. We were greeted by a preppy, upbeat waitress that joked around with my husband's dad. She was in a good mood. She attended to us pretty quickly. I ordered a cranberry juice, and a large salad with chicken strips, cheese, eggs, and bacon. It was pretty good and I didn't have to wait too long to get it. It had plenty of chicken, cheese, eggs, and bacon on it. The lettuce was crisp and cool, the ranch dressing was the right mix as well. Husband ordered a large cheeseburger and waffle fries. He was happy with his meal. The consistency was great and they gave a lot of toppings, the meat was very thick. The fries had a good texture, he did try his dad's beer battered fries and he loved them. Our waitresses were pretty responsive and very friendly. They joked around and seemed very personable. I'd say the service was good. AS for prices I will deduct a half a star because it was pricey my salad was 7.50 and hubby's burger was approx 6.50. I cannot, however gauge the total, as my husband's dad bought the dinner for us. I will give this place 4.5 stars. read more

We continue to come here two or three times a year and have noticed some changes, so I thought I'd update our review. For one thing, we've actually done the dinner thing a couple of times. Once we went there in the summer, and they were serving all kinds of grilled meats from their barbecue out back. I had the grilled pork chops and corn on the cob, and both were really good. In other seasons, they have more of a traditional selection of dishes-- meatloaf, steak, chicken breast, lasagna, etc. One thing that's always impressive is their list of sides. It changes all the time, but there are usually between ten and fifteen choices on it, so you're guaranteed to find something that you'd like, and sometimes there are some pretty unusual offerings as well. We hardly ever get desserts here, but when we have, they've been really good. They're made offsite by a local baker, and while they're quite pricey, the portions are huge. You could definitely share one with another person, or maybe even your whole table. Something new that they're trying recently is to have your server drop the check off at your table. Before you had to go to the cashier and tell her what you ate, and she would try to find the right check in a whole stack of them. Besides taking a long time for everybody, I'm sure this led to some mix-ups, so it's nice to see they're doing it the other way now. It still takes a long time to get through the line to pay, though, and this leads to some crowding in the lobby, which is also usually full of people waiting to get seated. While it's not our favorite place, Der Dog Haus is a nice place to eat, especially when we don't feel like leaving our neighborhood. read more
