The Rosewater is a used bookstore that is ran by volunteers and supports the south end community with their sales. We were greeted right away by a volunteer working to organize and check-in donated books. One side of the renovated house holds fiction and another holds non-fiction. Upstairs is a kids area, restroom, and closets full of paperbacks. A few tables and the closets offered 3 or 2 books for $1. Quite a deal when you are like me, not searching for a particular book, just looking for an interesting story. In the front room near the register you can find vintage and collectible books as well as new arrivals. I also appreciated that coffee and tea were made for those that wanted to sit and stay awhile. Tell your friends about the Rosewater - I'm sure it's a hidden store. I've been incredibly close to it (across from the Streatery) and had no idea! Because it is a used bookstore, you can't guarantee they have what you're looking for, but the thrill is in finding what you didn't know you needed. Street parking is fairly easy to find. A total hidden gem here in KY! This 2nd hand bookstore is volunteer run so their hours can be a little wanky, but this means that all of their profits can be donated to help families in the city who need emergency funds for food, housing, etc. They try to host events in their space and are always open to new ideas! I really love supporting local and it's nice seeing bookshops like these around Louisville! I came here for the fill a bag sale but didn't find anything outside but on the inside I got 5 hard back books and 1 paper back for $40. Each hardback is $7 and each paper back is $5. I would come back here! But if you are looking for something specific they won't have everything since they are used or donated. read more

Cute book store with an inspiring mission! I had driven by a few times but never made it in. I finally changed that this past weekend and I'm bummed I didn't go sooner! As soon as we entered, we were greeted and told about the shop's layout. We also were told about the shop's volunteers and mission to give back to the community which gave me the warm fuzzies. I spent about a half hour browsing and didn't even see everything. I ended up grabbing a couple books that were on my TBRL and a cute book for my baby nephew. Next time I stop by, I'll be taking in a box full of donations! read more

This is a fantastic hidden gem in Louisville. Rosewater bookstore offers new and used books. I found this bookstore through a friend who found their Instagram post. They were having a sale where customers could fill a tote of books for $10. They had a variety of books available for the promotion from history to fiction. Truly there was something for everyone. Inside there were many rooms to explore, including an upstairs. Upstairs they have a room childrens room and downstairs a young adult section. Paperbacks were $5 and hardback books are $7. All proceeds go to family and youth housing. Besides the variety of genres, there are also more current books available. I appreciated the wide range of selection. I was also excited to find out you can donate books as well. I will definitely bring books here in the future. The staff was super nice and helpful answering questions. One important note is they do have street parking. It may be best to park on Woodlawn, which is right around the corner. I can't wait to come back and explore more! read more

The Rosewater is a used bookstore in the Beechmont neighborhood serving the community with quality used books and merchandise. They actually opened up right before the Covid pandemic so it's been a bit rocky for them. South Louisville Community Ministries is the owner of this business. A fine assortment of books can be had for $5 paperbacks and $7 for hardcover. I believe once a month they have a $1 sidewalk sale that had been popular with neighbors and book lovers in the community. We have gotten several items from The Rosewater for ourselves and friends and family. Bookstores are hard to find this day and age. We are happy to have them in our community. read more

Sweet used and rare bookstore. It is great to have such a lovely shop on this corner. Great use of an old house retaining the charm of wood floors and small closets for part of their book display. Prices are reasonable and even some seating areas are provided. All children's books are $1 and contained in one room which helps if visiting with children. The interior sort of reminds me of "the shop around the corner" from "you've got mail". read more
