My husband and I both ordered a special with steak, crab meat, and a scallop. The steak didn't have much flavor. The scallop was cooked well, but there was very little crab meat that didn't add any flavor. We both wound up getting sick. He was lucky and only had food poisoning for two days. I wound up having it for a few days and landed in the hospital because I needed fluids and electrolytes because I was so sick. We had our annual company Christmas party at The Rouxpour in Katy. Hosted in their semi-private room. This was by far the BEST dinner party we've have hosted yet! The ambiance & table decor was absolutely gorgeous! Both of our waitresses for the night Taryn & Rachel just did an outstanding job taking care of our every need. Our menu was superb & the chefs hit it out of the ball park with the appetizers, dinner & desserts! The baked oysters we're an evening favorite! For one thing, let's get the pricing right this place has two dollar signs when it should have at least four. The average entrée is about $30. Food , I had black and salmon, which was truly blackened. It was burned and overcooked. Rice jambalaya, which normally has some type of protein had no protein to speak of the rice was dry and clumpy had very little taste. The appetizer was crab fingers, the sauce was powdery and grainy, and the crab portions were very small and grainy as well. Maybe freezer burned. Drinks arrived 30 minutes after the meal started. I got my drink when I was finishing up my plate. The portions were incredibly small. My asparagus was woody to the point. It was almost not edible. My wife had a salad with shrimp that were overdone. There was a sauce we had with crawfish and the crawfish were tiny and very rubbery overcooked. My wife got the house, white wine, and she got a literal shot glass of wine in the wine glass. There is no draft beer. It is in bottles in the bottles are of a smaller size. The bathroom was terribly strange. Someone had taken apart the air fresheners that normally hang on the wall and simply put eight completely opened pine, scented air fresheners all over the bathroom. This place really tries to be high-end, but it is really not. The ambience was odd as if they're trying to be high-end and a sports bar and the amount of yelling retracted from the highly expensive Andres. When we called, they said there was no waiting. We arrived within two minutes of the phone call and then we were told there were reservations and we would have to wait 20 minutes before getting seated. It was strange because there were open tables everywhere and we were dressed nicely. It appeared to be an issue of three people trying to manage the front of house seating people. The menu is one page probably maybe 15 items in total there are no dairy free options other than salads, and although they claim to be in a Louisiana restaurant, they really aren't and this is coming from myself with a Louisiana background. I simply wouldn't go back. It's too expensive for what you get in. The food was simply not very good. As a matter fact my wife was very nauseous after the meal. And my daughter left hungry, as did I and my son, so we wound up eating more food at home after spending nearly $200, for four people. read more

Just an HONEST update about this restaurant! So my family and I enjoyed celebrating Father's Day here yesterday with my husband! It was his first time and we wanted to surprise him by taking him somewhere he's never been before. He's very particular and picky about where he dines out. So my children and I made sure we chose a restaurant that's clean, professional, has great service, and delicious cuisine. Being that this is a Cajun/Creole restaurant, he was skeptical about eating here because normally creole food is too salty! However, He absolutely enjoyed the dining experience and the food and drinks. He was really impressed because the food tasted great and was seasoned to perfection. APPETIZERS: Here's a quick list of what we ordered around the table starting with appetizers and drinks. We ordered two shrimp and lobster fondues, crab cakes, shrimp deviled eggs, and boudin links. The crab cakes are small in size but let me tell you the taste is big and bold with every bite. They're basically full of delicious and rich fresh crab meat. The deviled eggs were better than any I've ever tried in my life including my own. The creamy flavorful egg yolk was absolutely delectable. It was so rich and smooth as if the yolk was whipped like creamy mashed potatoes. The shrimp on top of the egg added a burst of seafood flavor combined with the rich creamy flavors of the yolk. This combination took deviled eggs to another level! DRINKS: 2 Blueberry Martinis, 4 Mexican Martinis with a side shot of Grand Marnier, a Louisiana Peach Tea, and 3 Lemonades. All drinks were FABULOUS!!! ENTRÉES: We ordered the Fried Seafood Platter, the Lafitte Salmon Grilled with white rice, the Mack Daddy's Hangover Burger, the Creamy Pasta Rouxpour with Shrimp, the Crab Stuffed Flounder, and from the kids menu for my grandkids we ordered grilled cheese and chicken tenders with fries. OVERALL: To say that our food was delicious is an understatement! Everything was absolutely splendid from the appetizers and drinks to the entrees. The shrimp and crawfish fondue was exquisite & it's served with toasted French bread. My grandkids really enjoyed their appetizer the boudin link. It was grilled and served with sliced pickles, grilled onions, and mustard. None of the adults had room for dessert but of course my grandkids had room for ice cream lol. I'm extremely satisfied with my dining experience! They were able to accommodate us, a party of seven, five adults and two small kids. Our server Kelsey was the best! She was very professional, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu items and drinks! We did not have to wait long for anything that we ordered and we ordered big! They worked as a team bringing out appetizer after appetizer and entree after entree in a timely manner! It was a smooth and relaxing atmosphere perfect for celebrating Father's Day! I gave this establishment five stars again because they truly earned it and deserve it! Our tables and chairs were nice and clean. The floor was also clean underneath the table! First time here! Set up a Valentine's Day date about a week in advance, via OpenTable, but it seems that was not enough time to score a good table. In my defense, my initial plan fell through and I had to come up with a Plan B. This wound up being an early dinner and we were seated at a table in the bar area, right next to a family which included at least three children under the age of six. I asked and we were moved to an available table, which was near one of the huge windows. There seemed to be no other tables available. We never got past the host desk, so we don't know what the rest of the restaurant looks like. We were sitting just before the bar, which seemed to be the focal point of the restaurant. To make this short and sweet: The food was amazing! My oven-baked boudin stuffed chicken topped with a creamy gouda cheese sauce, jalapeño sausage & crawfish tails, served with a loaded potato cake & veggie du jour was very good! No complaints at all, especially paired with the Louisiana Peach Tea (a nice, peachy twist on the Long Island Iced Tea)! Michelle had the Mahi Opelousas (which was spelled differently on the menu) which was Blackened Mahi-Mahi topped with blackened shrimp, spinach, mushrooms & a tomato cream sauce, served with jambalaya rice & veggie du jour. I came here because the one in Friendswood is off the charts and service is amazingly friendly. BUT this place, Service is rude along with the other customers that go in there. Management shows they can careless about customers. Would I come here again. HELL NO! Food wasn't great compared to the one in Friendswood. The Bloody Mary was horrible. Taste just like a bunch of tomatoe juice. Didn't even come with a celery or olive. Never saw our server after the drink orders. Food came 25/30 minutes later didn't look too busy in the restaurant. For busy days there could be a little wait, and you might need a reservation but this place is worth the wait and planning. The food is great, the lobster rolls are amazing. Even they had great steak. Absolutely love their fish dishes. Mahi mahi with blacked shrimp is my absolute favorite choice. Never have they been wrong with this dish.
