usually i'm a big rouxpour fan, so i was excited to take my friends for their first time. i was disappointed to learn that the fried green tomatoes with shrimp and crawfish has been taken off the menu :( hopefully it's seasonal but i'm not sure. we started with the crab cake which was amazing. the halibut special and pasta with shrimp (cant remember the name) was yummy but VERY salty. we finished with a chocolate cake that had the most delicious crust and gigantic chunks of cheesecake. our waitress was super nice and informative. read more

I used to love going here but my last visit has left a bad taste in my mouth...... The service and food were great but the manager working was extremely creepy and made my girlfriends and I uncomfortable. He was offering to cover our bill if we wanted to go have drinks at a different bar with him after we finished our meal. I will NOT be going back as long as he is still there. read more

Excellent service from Claudia tonight! First, I went outside, thinking my Seattleite body could use a little heat and sun. However, 92° F plus humidity at 715 pm slayed me!! Claudia happily moved me indoors (after checking with the hostess) and I was much happier!! The gulf oysters are HUGE!!! If you're West Coast and used to our Kumamoto or PNW oysters, you're in for a treat! The saying that comes to mind is "everything's bigger in Texas!" So big, in fact, I had to Google "how to eat gulf oysters" ...in case there's a trick! (Spoiler alert, you gotta chew. And it's super good!!) I never chew PNW / Kumamoto oysters yet now I may. ‍ If you've followed me for more than a sec, you know I'm gluten free and take my allergy seriously. They initially brought out my plate with bread on it, even tho the ticket said "wheat allergy". So now they're recooking my steak. Despite this hiccup, I'll be back! What a great evening and a nice break from COVID-19. This place is hopping, yet the tables are spaced out, and ALL STAFF are wearing masks. Restaurant manager Andrew came by with my newly made steak (bonus asparagus....whaaaat?!?) yum!!! Everything is perfectly cooked, temps and presentation are great. Excellent service, excellent food. my goodness! Saturday night 7pm and we were seated immediatel. congeniAl hostesses eager to please! I had 2 of the very BEST dirty Martini's I've ever sipped! Just perfect! my wife had the lamb chops and raved about them! She also had the chicken and sausage gumbo which she also raved about. I tried a spoonful and it was perfect! I had the redfish with shrimp on top, and it too was deliciou, blackened to perfection, and a huge portion! Our waitperson Michelle did a superb job. All in all, it was a wonderful night out. First time visit to The Rouxpour and I must say there will be a definite return!!! The parking was was decent; however, make sure you plan accordingly so you can get a beautiful view of the fountain side. They have an incredible view on the patio as well. The waitstaff had a busy night and I was worried that the service would become an ultimate fail....but all went well as we met the gentleman with the "handlebar mustache"....he was very attentive, thorough, and helpful with the menu specifics. And now the EATS!!!! The Cajun Devil Eggs with shrimp were seasoned just right. The Crab stuffed Flounder was amazing.....full of flavor and the texture was just perfect and not mushy. My wife had the redfish which she mentioned had the right amount of flavor and the seafood was fresh. My beverage of choice was the Louisiana peach tea and it had the right blend of liquor, lemon, & tea...there was no alcoholic bite...kudos to the bartender for the win. The Blueberry Martini was definitely delicious as well...so good we ordered more as the night progressed. If you are in Katy, TX this location is perfect!!! Enjoy!! read more

I've wanted to try The Rouxpour since moving to Katy because of the positive reviews I've heard. We went on a night that was pretty busy inside and opted to sit outside which was a great decision. The outdoor seating has a nice ambiance, especially at night as the seats are right on the water in La Centerra and if you get a corner table by the gate, it's a pretty private experience when the outside isn't busy which is perfect for a date night. Tee ordered the Fried Green Tomatoes for an appetizer. My wife isn't a fan of crawfish so we opted to have the crawfish fondue on the side and I think that's the best way to go especially if you prefer crispy FGT. The crawfish fondue served as a nice dip for the FGT and didn't take away from the taste of the tomatoes. We ordered the Shrimp Po' Boy and Zydeco Chicken for our entrees. The SBP was okay. I'll admit I'm a bit biased on Po' Boys since I grew up in the Midwest and Po' Boys are completely different. However, the SBP was flavorful and very filling. The Zydeco Chicken was good. It wasn't as heavy as it originally looked, and the crawfish sauce didn't overpower the taste of the chicken. The batter on the chicken wasn't heavy and had a nice crunch to it. As a lover of spicy foods, I was a little disappointed it wasn't spicier seeing how jalapeño sausage was paired with the crawfish tails, however, for people who can tolerate a mildly spicy dish, I recommend giving this a try. read more

I have so much hope for this place. I've been here twice. The first time was when they first opened, I went back last week. The pros: The happy hour Moscow mule is really good. I ordered 4 last week. The best thing on the menu are the oysters. I had the oysters royal and the Rockefeller. They are both really good, but the royals are amazing. I can eat those everyday. The atmosphere is really cool as well, especially if you sit on the patio and there is a live band in the park area. The cons: there is no seasoning on any of the food, not even salt. It's like they take their food right out of the freezer or wherever they keep it and put it on the grill, then on your plate. This was the same issue I faced when they first opened and it is still the same now. Also the dinner portions are really small. This time I had the crab stuffed flounder. The piece of fish was more like 2 fish sticks put together, and was the most bland food I've ever had in my life. The entrees are a rip off, the price was like $36-$38. My wife had the creamy pasta rouxpour and she couldn't finish because it had no flavor at all. The only reason this place did not get 1 star is because of the oysters and drinks. The only time this place will see us again is for an occasional dozen of oysters. The other food, they can keep. read more

I loved the wine and food was good but not great for the price and the service. I'm giving 3 stars because the service was poor. I'm not sure if this is something people in Houston do as in customers have to ask for water lol but we didn't get water and all the other tables were being attended but our server was too busy on phone or no where to be seen. From the beginning to the end my sister and bro got water but I didn't and we waited patiently and once we got hold of server before leaving asked for water and the server ignorantly just filled my brother's glass and didn't care. The restaurant had plenty of parking available, but it wasn't easy to find because the signs on the restaurant read New Orleans. The enclosed patio seating was very easy and accommodating, allowing us to bring our dog inside. The indoor bathroom was very close to the patio, the waitress came out promptly, and started our orders and brought our drinks immediately. The crab cake was delicious and contained blue claw meat seasoned and spices served with a remoulade dressing and some refreshing arugula salad. It reminds me of the way that my mother made stuffed crabs growing up in New Orleans as a child. Although it's not a jumbo lump crab cake, it's actually what an authentic crab cake should be. It's one of the better crab cakes available in Katy/Houston Texas. The grilled oysters were delicious also but it lacked the grilled marks and taste that makes an original grilled oyster platter in New Orleans. Delicious nonetheless! The jumbo lump and asparagus appetizer was expertly done and there's no words to express how good it was. I can't say enough about the view and wonderful live piano music playing. What a great place to have a nice weeknight dinner date to break the monotony of cooking every day. Prices are extremely reasonable and the service was excellent. As soon as my kids and I arrived, I made sure to ask was the place kid friendly, and was skeptically she said "we've got kids menus." So, we decided to stay. I was quickly sat at a table right by the kitchen and we were off to a good start because the waiter came instantly and took our order. I chose to get the shrimp and grits and I'm glad I did. I was able to try 3 locations of Rouxpour this weekend, Sugarland is too loud (loud music outside and inside) and too warm to be able to enjoy a meal and our waiter disappeared after he brought the food. We had to walk inside and wait for him to be called to scan my card so we can leave. They also allow smoking in the outside seating area. But the red snapper was good. Their blackened seasoning on the grilled shrimp is basically salt and hot pepper. Too salty and too spicy! At the Memorial Mall location we were told our 16 Oz spring water bottles have to be left with the hostess in the front!!! The manager said it is against the law to bring water from the outside. Must be a new law in this restaurant location only cause this only happened to me with TSA at the airport. It is 95 degrees outside so we need to have bottles of water! And we will not leave our opened water bottles with someone at the front. So we left. And btw my group was senior citizens. At the Katy location they started sweeping the floors while we were eating and you can smell the dust badly! And we arrived around 7 pm. When I told the nice lady that I am allergic to dust she said she has to do it. I told the waitress and so the manager came and said that she will have them sweep the area next to us. Basically you enjoy dust with your meal the whole time. Never been to a restaurant with their prices that sweeps while people are eating, must be some health department violation?! What is next? mopping?! I prefer vacuuming so they wouldn't just spread the dust around. The manager said they have alot of dust because of construction! Sadly they were out of red snapper and the waitress didn't know until after we ordered. read more

If you ever lived or breathed in NOLA, you will like Rouxpour. Frankly, I'm not usually the person who goes to a restaurant solely because they claim Cajun or Creole cuisine. Even the color purple will turn me back. After living in New Orleans it's hard to eat crappy food with claims to that root. Still, my wife is a big fan of Rouxpour and dragged me in on Saturday. Praise The lord, this restaurant is the real deal. The idea was for us to have a light lunch and then get dinner groceries at Trader Joe's. The outcome was we sampled five or eight dishes and drank a bunch more. Really had a great time and ate some very good food in the meanwhile. First, do not panic. Rouxpour has small plates so you can have a cup of this or a side plate of that and not overwhelm your tummy with heavy dishes. Second, panic if having a foodgasm is frowned on by your faith. It was that good. I tried, if the bourbon will allow me to recall correctly, the Étouffée, the seafood gumbo, a salad with lots of stuff in it, the traditional grilled oysters and something else ... hmmm. Always great service (we sit at the bar every time-either bar side or bar table). The food is consistently good and fresh! We love going here for date night, and there is an awesome happy hour-drinks and bites. The gumbo is to die for! We both had a cup of the seafood gumbo. We also got the crab claws this time (they run out at times!) and they were huge! So yummy! I didn't get a pic of that or our entree-I forgot-but we shared the Zydeco Chicken-cajun fried chicken topped with creamy gouda sauce, jalapeno sausage, and crawfish tails. Served with garlic mashed potatoes and veggies. I have gotten a wedge salad with salmon several times which was perfect. We have tried almost all of the desserts and all are delicious! If you come you have to get the Rockefeller oysters! They were a huge hit for the whole family and so are the crab cakes. Honestly the best crab cakes I've ever had. I got the stuffed flounder and it was so good! It came with plenty of food and I left feeling full and satisfied. Everyone else really enjoyed their dishes too which were a red snapper special, a chicken pasta, and a salad. Our waitress was great and knowledgeable on the menu with plenty of recommendations to give when asked. Wow, just wow! We had a great time at The Rouxpour. My partner started with a Knobcreek drink and I got the house margarita. The drinks were delicious and well poured. We started our food journey with the shrimp and crawfish fondue. IT'S SO GOOD! Just enough for two people, maybe four but there wont be enough for seconds. For food, I got the zydeco chicken which was cooked to perfection. The flavor combination with the mashed potatoes and asparagus was delectable. My partner ordered the creamy pasta roupour and WOOOOWWW! It's absolutely creamy and the cajun flavor just hits the spot. It's a must if you come here. Our server, Vivian was top notch as well. First off America, I ate waaaaaay too much foo here last night...I mean, It's 1:00pm and I'm still full! I had to though...I couldn't come here and only try a couple things. So, the very nice bartender (Tara I believe) was more than accommodating. She set me up a half orders of the Crab Cake, fried green tomatoes and allowed me to mix a 1/2 dozen oysters (Raw and grilled). On top of this, I also tried the little crab fingers and finished with the Spinach Salad topped with grilled salmon. I'm getting full all over again just tying this... Everything was amazing...no lie. The only thing I would suggest is share the crab fingers with a few others...after eating a 3-4 of them..youre' done. The're good, don't get me wrong, just rich better shared in y opinion. The Crab Cake was amazing. Full of crab, through and through...and the taste was spot on. I'd throw these puppies up against anything back east...true story. The Fried Oysters were also incredible. I had three raw and three grilled...with this "Bien" something topping. Whatever it was, I want more! I in-hailed all 6 within minutes. The Fried Green Tomatoes were just Stupid...stupid amazing that is. They're served up smothered in this crazy delicious seafood fondue sauce...which, I'd put on just about anything and eat it. Pro Tip...ask for more garlic bread to Dredge through this Shit...it's THAT GOOD!!! Oh and not leave out the green tomatoes...amazing! I finished, or rather tried to finish with the spinach salad and a nice piece of grilled salmon. The house vinigarette was damn good and although I was full....I just kept shoving it all in. I did NOT finish the salad but I tried America....I tried. I went yesterday to this restaurant and tried it. I don't usually try Cajun restaurants because I am Cajun and have been hugely disappointed. I am so glad I tried this restaurant. EVERYTHING we had was absolutely amazing. I called them today as soon as I got home and spoke to the manager. I asked her to please request upper management place one of their restaurants in Victoria. The closest one is this one in Katy, but Victoria is only 30-45 minutes away. This place made me want to move to Katy, but I can't afford to. LOL! read more

The Rouxpour is located in the heart of Katy's La Centerra shopping center. Having been to the Sugar Land Rouxpour, I like the location of this one much better, especially at night! The layouts are pretty similar and menus pretty much the same, but this time around I got to try more food items such as the Signature Chargrilled and Chargrilled Rockefeller oysters. Also, the gumbo was even better than I remembered (and spicier too)! All in all, I had a great experience here and am looking forward to coming back. read more
