I remember this place opening to great fanfare back in 2014 and was perfect for the time. Flamingo and palm tree printed wallpaper, frozen and tiki cocktails galore, a huge open space to play the very simple game of ground shuffleboard. The place would pack out and it was so impossible to get a lane that I stopped going for a while. After a hiatus of over a decade from the place, I decided to return on a Saturday for a date. The place largely holds up, as in, it still feels cool. We got drinks and played taboo while we waited for our lane, which took about 40 mins to free up. At $60 an hour, you can really rack up a pretty penny just to push some pucks around but I'll admit I had fun. The barrier to entry is extremely low. There's a lot of space to spread out and this would be especially fun in a group. I don't know about spending hours and hours here, because at least for me the novelty fades pretty quickly, but I don't mind my once a decade soujourn, assuming this place continues to stay for years to come. read more

I got the momo combo with chicken dumplings and shrimp summer roll. He makes every other fresh and pretty fast. He must have a set up but it's a small menu. Affordable and tasty. Don't forget to ask for soy sauce if you don't like the white and hot sauce . Also gave me sweet chili sauce that made the flavors pop. The dumplings were firm and moist and the summer rolls were fresh and light. Perfect combinations. The drink I ordered was the virgin painkiller, basically pina colada. On top of a very fun and easy to enjoy game, you can get great drinks from a full bar, "table" service, and pick from plenty of food options if you're hungry. You book by the hour, take a quick lesson, and then you are left to it. You keep your own score and can fit in quite a few games depending on how fast you play. There are few things more satisfying than a strategic last shot bump of your opponent into the -10 zone, and in our true competitive nature, we were all aiming for that. There was about a 45 min wait when we got there around 10pm on a Saturday. While we waited, we played some of their board games that they have and ordered drinks at the bar. If this is a nearby location to you, it's definitely nice to attend place to visit. Went out here the other night and had a good time. We ate from the food truck. Had the fish quesadillas and the chicken. I did order shrimp instead of the fish, not sure if the person taking my order didn't understand. English wasn't his first language I believe but bygones. Both tasted pretty alright. We ordered two different drinks, my dining companion didn't like hers but the server was gracious enough to change the drink and charge us the difference, after telling us that they don't exchange drinks...like who does that? According to the site, play time is limited to 1 hour so more people can play. While waiting for a court, we played some of the free card/board games available. They run an outstanding operation here where one can indulge in a variety of things: killer drinks in a lounge'y atmosphere, fun interactive games like giant jenga, while hosting all sorts of events, and of course, a one of a kind operation around shuffleboard. This place is so fun that even a novice shuffleboarder is deemed be an enthusiast after the first go-around here. It's an easy game but like many things in life, best enjoyed with good company. RPSC makes for a good date option, an awesome group fun option, a cool people watching spot, and generally a great place to visit for all folks. Personally, I think it's a great alternative to the usual nightlife scene and adds a dynamic venue to already impressive variety that Brooklyn has to offer. I give kudos to their staff who do a bang up job night in and night out. Management keeps this place fresh by hosting a whole plethora of events and makes it so that even each night can be a whole 'nother experience. It's cool that they have this entire place dedicated to shuffleboard. Definitely unique! When you enter, the whole place looks like a giant pool separated by lanes. There is an instructor who teaches you how to hold and use the stick as well as general rules of the game. I came with a large group and we only had one shuffleboard, so we took turns. It's not as easy as it looks! You often push too hard or not enough. People seemed to lose interest in the game pretty soon though, and most of us just spent the rest of the night eating, drinking, and talking. It's always a great time at Royal Palms Shuffleboard! I come here casually and often for dates. If I wanna have a chill time and not get too wild, this is the place I go. To me, this place is super casual, not far to get to, and inexpensive. The music is blasting with top 40, r&b, electronic sometimes, and remix pop (depending on the DJ). Most times there is a live DJ in the corner of the bar which is nice. The age range (my guess) is about 25-40, but mostly people who are in their late 20's. Royal Palms is great because it's super inexpensive if you don't wanna do Shuffleboard. There are lots of activities to choose from such as -Jumbo Connect 4 -Wall ring toss (which is located to the left of the stage area on the wall) -Other board games which are free (in exchange for your gov ID) such as: -Chess, Checkers, Sorry, Monopoly, cards (and others) -Seating area everywhere - good for large groups/large parties -Free to DANCE under the disco ball, which I do, however, no one catches on to dance alongside me ..... but that's ok lol Drinks are relatively on the low side here. You can get a beer for $6, which I think is unheard of!! Cocktails are $13 - the value of this is okay. I find the drinks aren't as strong, BUT they are delicious! Playing Shuffleboard super fun but is only a good value IF you play with 4 people or more since it is $50 to play at one Shuffleboard lane. I wouldn't pay $25 for an hour because I personally don't think it's worth it, but hey, some people do it. If you don't play Shuffleboard, definitely give it a try! People are super friendly here and you will have a great time. One thing I don't like about this place is that they only have 1 food truck with few food options, which has outrageous prices. I remember coming here with an empty stomach and the only option for me to eat at the time was a greek salad that was $15 which I was forced to pay for (since I could not eat hemetz at the time)!!!! They also had a few mocktails that were good and since I don't drink beer really, I ended up getting a bunch of those and mixing it with their bubbly white wine/champagne - those were yum! It's a huge space, great for big groups -- with about 10 shuffleboard courts, tables scattered, board games, 2 bars, and usually a food truck for the nomz! The weekends are always so packed, so be prepared to have a very long wait time. If you don't want to wait, I suggest you come right when they open. Otherwise, you could estimate up to 3-4 hours. It's a great place to just chill and drink/eat too! Coming on the weekdays is a whole different story! You can also reserve courts with a bigger party so everyone has a chance to play. If you're a noob, they will gladly teach you how to keep score and how to send the shuffle down the board! It's so much fun and requires zero athleticism!
