In town for baseball I just had to check out a place that advertises being open 21 hours per day! Walked in at 9:15 in the morning. Wasn't sure what to expect but at the same time I thought I might see people who started way earlier than I got there. That was for sure. Blaring 90s boy bands music, combined with other music and those people singing their hearts away. It was awesome! Others who were there weren't annoyed by it at all and that said everything to me. We all just smiled and laughed. Old school decor hasn't changed in forever. Certainly didn't bother me as love that old school dive feel. All cash, so don't bring your credit cards. A little pricy on my vodka and Sprite but oh well. Usually get lemonade but they didn't have any. Nothing out of hand though and the beer prices were dang good. A must experience. read more

I came here for the first time with my friend last night since moving to the area, and we had a great time. It is CASH ONLY, but they have an atm in there if you need it. The bartenders were super friendly and made great drinks. The people that hang out there are super nice people and we spoke to a lot of them. It is very much a community in there. They also have pool tables and darts which I always love. They left a very nice first impression on me and I will be back for sure! read more

The Ruckmoor Pub is a Columbus institution - one that we're lucky to have. Opens at 5:30 a.m. and closes at 2 a.m. (except opens at 11 a.m. on Sundays). Hannah has been a mainstay there - always remembers my drink and my name (above and beyond her paygrade, but I really appreciate it). A shot and a beer under $10; cash only. The Ruckmoor Pub almost never closes. It's not a joke it's for real. They barely close a couple of hours. It's good for that alcohol you know. Take him here for some brews in the morning. If you haven't been here you may be wondering what's the best time to come. It depends but just know you can come at just about any time. They close up and then almost immediately open at 5:30 A.M. It's either good for a night cap or for the rise and drink individual. The bar inside isn't much to look at. It's ok because you won't be able to keep your eyes open. The beer is cheap and so is the fun. If you're looking for a special there's cans which are usually about $2. The place has been around since the 1950s and looks like it. Around it has sprung the Crosswoods area. It kind of sticks out like a sore thumb. Even though it looks out of place and the traffic in the area is such a bitch, there's still a bunch of regulars who make it. The bartenders are friendly if not classy, and there's always a hoot inducing story too. I say there's never a bad time to come to Ruckmoor. There almost isn't even a time you can't come. My family visits Columbus every December and has a few traditions. On the second night, we always go to the Ruckmoor. To be clear, this place is not a five-star experience in the classy way, but more ofa five-star experience for what it is. It's a den-style bar that allows smoking inside. But, we have fun sitting by the fire and chatting or playing beer pong or the ring game. They are a cash-only bar but there are ATMs inside if you forget. Rode hard and put away wet may not be the right phrase but it's certainly the first thing to come to mind. Occasionally (maybe 3-4 times a year) I find myself in the Polaris area and drinking at 10:30 am. Clearly my options are limited. The Ruckmoor has always welcomed me and my fellow drinkers with open arms. We've always had the pleasure of getting our drinks from Marge (yes, she's exactly who you think she would be: full of bar wisdom, red bouffant hairstyle, raspy smokers voice and would console your tears one minute and break up a bar fight between 2 burly men the next). She happily pops open cans of PBR and Miller High Life all morning long. Just don't ask for a bottle of bud light here - this place is A-1 classy, only cans, my friend. The walls are covered in heavily lacquered wood and thick red curtains. Seating is mostly barrel style chairs and benches for 2. There is a narrow passage way from the main seating area to the pool table and on your way you'll pass a couple of the most run down bathrooms I've seen since a WV truck stop. There is an eclectic group of people here (as you can imagine at 10:30 in the morning). Mostly consisting of 3rd shifters ending their day and a few sad cases who appear to be falling of the wagon. I'd be willing to bet on any given morning you could hear some pretty good stories from those drinking away the Wednesday dawn. There is a ring toss game which consists of a ring hanging from a string and a hook on the wall that entertains people for hours at a time. Parents who can't afford to buy a wii, this could be the way to win your way back into your children's hearts for about $4 and a couple taps of the hammer. Just a thought. I'm giving this place 4 stars because last time we arrived at 10:30 and basically took over the seating area playing Kings, acting silly and drinking pitcher after pitcher of Kileans without once being bothered by anyone. If you come in here with absolutely zero expectations and follow a few rules (Don't eat here. Try not to be sober here. Don't order a martini. Don't wear your good pants) you'll surely love it too. read more

I've heard about the Ruckmoor for years. One boring Saturday night, I finally made the decision to give it a try. All I can say is, "wow." I'd love to say that this is a great retro bar, but I have the feeling that the furnishings just haven't changed since the 70s. That said, the restrooms seemed to have been more recently remodeled. As the descriptor says, this is a "dive bar" chock full of "colorful" regulars who all seem to know each other. The regulars were all fairly welcoming and you just get the feeling that this is the kind of "Cheers" bar that can suck you in for the long haul. For example, the highlight of the night was the bartender asking one of the regulars if she knew that Randy or "Stick" had died. After a quizzical look from the regular, an actual urn and numerous photos of "Stick" were produced from the back room. Apparently you can even frequent this place after death. Wow. Yeah, I'll be back to the Ruckmoor - not just for the cheap beer, the pool or the ring game, but mostly for the floor show. Let's just hope I don't pull a Stick. read more

Perhaps what The Ruckmoor is most famed for. Launch a metal ring hanging from the ceiling and try to catch it on a hook across the bar. There are 5 types of shots you can make. It's a fabulous drunken challenge to see how advanced you can get in your toss approaches (it's always evident who the bar regulars are - they're the only ones that can make the infamous 5-pointer... yours truly included!). The entire bar WILL cheer along with you. 5) Jukebox meets Photo Booth. Ha. I can't believe there aren't more reviews of this place. Back when I used to serve and tend bar in the area this was THE place for us all to hang out when not at work. The already low drink prices were even lower for those who arrived in uniform. The selection is lacking but who cares? Did I mention they have can beer? What a dive it is too. Wine barrel seats, a metal loop on a string that you can swing onto a hook on the wall. Did you know that it used to be a brothel? They have the old room keys trapped in the shellac covered bar. I meetup with a couple of friends who live in the Worthington area as they really wanted me to try this place out. The drinks were strong and very reasonably priced, and the service was fairly decent. The environment was definitely that of the classic dive bar variety, which at the time I was in the mood for. The ring toss thing is a bit of a hoot as well. There are definitely some patrons at this bar that have taken great pains to master this art. I can't imagine I'd be capable of any advanced techniques here after I've had a few pints, so definitely kudos to that crowd. We ended up mostly utilizing the pool tables which turned out pretty well. They have two in a room that's set aside with a door out to the patio. The tables are the basic coin operated variety so the whole thing is pretty straight forward. All in all I like the bar. I had to ding them a star though for being cash only. While I understand they are likely attempting to avoid fees associated with processing cards I find cash only places to be quite frustrating. Sure there's an ATM but then you're left change unless you manage to build up a tab that equals a 20 dollar increment. But I digress, make sure you're prepared to use the ATM or have cash if you come here. read more

This was my first time visiting Ruckmoor. It has a slight irish pub theme, dark atmosphere and some exposed brick. My first impression had me expecting the bar to be filled with old men sitting at the bar playing checkers. It reminds me of a small town neighborhood bar, with cheap drinks . This was reinforced by the fact they served me beer in a can. This location didn't have the ability to process credit cards, but did have an atm inside. They had two pool tables in the rear, and the walls were covered with paneling! Great! I felt like I was in my father's basement.The bar did have a separate seating area and multiple televisions to watch sporting events. read more

I smelled terrible for the next day or two, but the beer was cheap and there was a roaring fire in there that turned the whole place into kind of a dark, warm medieval tavern. The staff is very friendly and so are the people who come here. There's not a big selection of beer but the beer is decently priced. I bought a pizza and it was good. The sauce they served with it was AMAZING though. It tasted like ranch with a pepper taste and had a spicy kick to it. It was amazing! A very relaxed atmosphere with pool and a ring game.
