Used our "Amish Country Summer Package" which included dinner here. We got sat instantly right at 5:30, prime time. Karen greeted us right away and explained the deal to us. I got the full buffet & she got the salmon w/ sweet potato fries & salad bar. Drinks were included as well. Plus she brought wheat rolls. The hot buffet was limited but everything was always fresh & very tasty. I can't complain about any item. The salmon was pretty good as it had a nice crust on it. This is our go to Saturday ride to Amish Country. I can't believe this is my second week in a row. You get there and you add your name to the list and step back, or go outside and wait. It's packed but do not get impatient, they have this down to a science and you are usually called within 20-30 minutes or less. It depends on the line. The food is tasty, very delicious. We wanted to try an Amish Buffet while in the area, and this one was great! Salad bar with lots of choices, then the main courses were fried chicken or really tasty beef (I don't normally do beef, but this was amazing), with fantastic mashed potatoes, Mac & Cheese, various veggies, and a couple of house made rolls, plus gravies. I would argue that this is very good down-home cooking! There was a lot of people who came at once but they have plenty of seating so there wasn't really a wait. There's a buffet or menu items to choose from. We got the buffet. Full salad bar with fresh ingredients, local cheese. Cold salads like macaroni and broccoli. The croutons were good, crunchy but not break your teeth and they had a variety of breads they used. Fresh bacon pieces. The hot foods bar had: -fried chicken (VERY good, highly recommend) -cabbage casserole (little too cheesy for me) -corn (very very sweet, interesting) -noodles (YUM!!!) -dressing (what they call stuffing, it was good) -bbq ribs (fall of the bone but I thought the sauce could be better, have more flavor) -green beans (basic, would be better with seasoning/butter) -mashed potatoes and gravy (yum!) A pleasant outing with the grandkids. We ate here before a matinee show at the light opera at the College of Wooster. We had to wait a bit for seating which made us a little nervous but it all worked out. Everyone but me ordered from the menu--the grands are picky eaters. If this is the best food that Amish Country has to offer, then Amish Country is to be avoided at all costs. Party of six, four kids and two adults. Kids ordered a-la-carte, adults got the buffet. For the sake of brevity I will stick with reviewing the buffet. The salad bar was a winner - broccoli slaw, 3 bean salad, and beet-pickled eggs were excellent, as well as the cool-whipped topped Jell-O. This was the only part of my meal I truly enjoyed, with the exception of the dark meat fried chicken. On to the hot buffet items I tried: the dark meat fried chicken was actually very good - decent flavor and good crunch. But oh man was it ever downhill from here. I'll go from bad to worst: White meat fried chicken: dry, dry, dry. Should have stuck to dark meat. Meatloaf - meat was ground to a paste. Absolutely no meaty texture to speak of. Boring and forgettable. Sweet potato casserole - there's no excuse for using canned sweet potatoes. Lazy. Dressing and brown gravy - mushy and bland. Not worth a second bite. Roast beef - dry and gravy was greasy. Again, not worth a second bite. Cabbage casserole - looked bad, tasted even worse. Ham loaf - I had high hopes for this. I like ham. I like meatloaf. What could go wrong? Oh, so so much. Again, meat was ground to a paste-like consistency, but this time its flavor was not forgettable - it tasted straight up rancid. Absolutely inedible. But the crimes against good taste didn't end at the buffet. No, we had the bathroom to contend with. Two mens stalls and we had our choice of either poop plastered to the inside of the bowl, or literal flies buzzing around our nethers. My boys chose to hold it. I chose to brave the flies. Look, if you can't keep a bathroom clean, then what the heck are you even doing as a restaurant? Bathrooms are easy to clean. The lack of effort and care runs deep here. The last straw was seeing some nasty old jerk sneeze directly into his hand and walk right over to the buffet and help himself to some Jell-O. Nope. A fitting ending for a truly disappointing experience. Can't believe I paid nearly $100 for this. Avoid at all costs. read more

On our visit to Holmes County all the reviews said to eat at Mrs. Yoder's and Der Dutchman. Mrs. Yoder's is smaller and more intimate (as buffet restaurants go). The salad bar was very good. The main buffet had fewer selections than we were used to. The high point was dessert. It's not included in the price but well worth it. If you have to choose between the two, either would do. Choose Yoder's for a more folksy theme and DD for a more large scale buffet you could get anywhere. read more

I love this place. It was pouring down rain and we came in. It was busy but not as crazy as usual. We came at 2:30, right between lunch and dinner, so it seemed like it wouldn't be too packed. The food was good as usual. Even my son loved the chicken and the rolls (of course) with the peanut butter spread. This is a very low key and small Amish restaurant in Mt Hope. They have a salad buffet along with a lunch and dinner. I have only been there for lunch and the food is very delicious and belly filling. Even in a long line the wait is usually 15 minutes or less. I love the chicken, noodles fish bites and rolls. First time at an Amish restaurant and it probably won't be my last. The three of us opted for the buffet option for dinner for $17 each. The server informed us that there are several entree items that are not in the buffet line up that are available to the buffet and would be served to us if we wanted, All three of us opted for the fresh roasted turkey. I thought the salad bar was well stocked with delicious veggies, I took some chicken, mashed potatoes and some stuffing along with my dark meat turkey. I thought everything was delicious but some dished were too salty like the stuffing, the roast chicken and pork. I purchased some buckeyes and strawberry licorice sticks from the gift shop and that licorice was addicting. I thing you get a 1 lb bag for $4.95. Definitely gonna return read more

Very affordable all you can eat buffet and some of the best country fried chicken you can eat north of Dixie! It's Amish cooking but that only means to me that it's just good home style country cooking. Simple ambience but don't fret -- if you put your name in you'll sit within 30min. I was excited to have real mash potatoes and gravy, neither which was true.. or edible. the stuffIng tasted kind of weird like something was bad in it. The smoked brisket was edible after I mixed it with the bbq sauce. The star of the whole experience was our sweet server. She was very kind and full of smiles. A gentleman in one of the stores told us this was one of the best places to eat... if that's the case, keep moving on to the next town! Fairly certain everything is from a can, or package. The prices would be fine if the menu items were what they were supposed to be. But , most of mine went in the trash.... And I'm not super picky. My Aunt said the cod was good. I drove down from Cleveland about an hour and a half and I will be doing it again. We got there at the perfect time on a Friday night just before the crowd. We got right in and seated. You can't come down here without doing a buffet, and Mrs Yoder's is excellent. As of 2024, the buffet with a drink is $17, and while I usually don't order a buffet, the price was similar to their entrees (which is unusual), so I went for it. The fried chicken is the star of the show. It is tender, juicy, the skin is crispy, and it falls off the bone. I paired that with the very creamy mashed potatoes, noodles, gravy, and a plate of cold salad. My friend and I both went back for more chicken. I also enjoyed the fairly simple salad bar for a veggie. The buffet is clean, the servers are friendly, and they really keep it stocked. If you want a good meal with a bit of a lot, I think this is the place to go! The desserts looked very good, but a girl's got limits. read more

Mrs. Yoder's Kitchen is located in the heart of Amish country in Mt. Hope, Ohio across from the Mt. Hope Livestock Auction site. They have been serving up delicious Amish country food since 1994. Hungry patrons can order from the menu or take advantage of the delicious lunch and dinner buffets. You can get the buffet to go for $8 per pound. There are also daily specials. Business hours have recently been reduced to 11 AM to 7 PM Monday through Saturday, they are closed on Sunday. The restaurant is very popular with locals and tourists. The parking lot is fairly spacious but can get very crowded. If you arrive by horse and buggy you may take advantage of the available hitching posts to secure your animal. The buffet includes a salad bar. They offer a nice variety of entrees and sides. There is something for everyone but he highlight is the amazing marinated and hand-breaded pressure fried chicken. Oh my, it's some of the very best fried chicken I have ever eaten. People are willing to drive a great distance just for the chicken, it's that good. I also really enjoy the meatloaf, roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, corn and much more. Your choice of beverage (no alcohol) is included in the price of the buffet but does not include their wonderful homemade desserts which can be ordered separately. We both had the buffet which was an excellent bargain for $17 including drink.They had a nice salad bar and a separate hot buffet--we just did the hot iems. We both got a piece of pie to take home (her pecan and me custard) Everything tasted great and the service by server Sarah was friendly and attentive. If you don't want to do thev buffet, they have regular entrees with sides for about the same price. We will return if we are ever in the area again. There was an Amish horse and buggy just across the fence in the next door parking lot, so we HAD to go over and pet the horse and take a picture.
