The store is old and not laid out well, humid A/C and moldy smelling. Plus the dog in there surely didn't help with the aroma. YES. COME HERE! Byron is the man. He's been running (pun intended) this joint for over 35 years! If that doesn't tell you he's doing something right, then you may go the other way. My brother and I came in and he just blew us away with the most amazing, attentive, and caring customer service I have ever experienced in my life. You can defiantly tell that he absolutely loves what he does, and he genuinely wants you to be happy. He helped us try out multiple different pairs of shoes until we said we were definitely happy with a pair. We ended up buying two, but he had to order the other because they didn't have it in stock. You can actually handle orders two ways which is great. He can call you when they come in or just send it directly to your house. We live in west kendall, so the commute is a bit out of the way, but so worth it. If you're an athlete, don't throw your money away anywhere else. Honestly, I'm not one to write reviews, but I had the best experience here! I'm a new runner & genuinely have no idea what shoes would work best for me. James helped me out and answered all my questions when I went in. I originally wanted the Hoka's Bondi 7 or 8 (just because I thought they were cute ahaha) and he ended up finding me shoes that were cute and extremely supportive (Hokas Gaviota). I got a whole analysis on my feet and he checked how I run/walk. Everyone is extremely attentive and helpful. The store was packed (and I can definitely see why)! With so many choices and sizes it helps to have the assistance of an experienced guide. Byron will make sure you get the right fit and model for your Unfortunately, the return experience for defective goods was a disappointment. I bought a pair of very expensive compression socks- which I only wore them two times- and yes I had them in my drawer for more than a year. They ripped and I brought them back- fully expecting either a credit or refund. Nether were offered and while it may have been a period of time since the purchase--my expectations from Byron and his team were sadly not met. A company is judged not just on sales but in what happens when the product does not perform as expected. Sadly, I can not recommend this store. read more

I came in here to find something that can track my running distance. I just became a novice runner so I wasn't exactly sure what I should be looking for. The service person was as nice as could be! She was very helpful and patient with me, even though I was being indecisive about which product I wanted to buy. She was very knowledgeable about the product that I was looking for, and even helped me look for additional items that would help me on my running performance. I haven't tried the treadmill where they video tape your run and then fit you into your perfect running shoes yet, maybe if this "running" thing of mine becomes a permanent thing, it will be my next step. I never post reviews, but my experience today compelled me to say something. Today is my birthday and my wife and I decided to go get a pair of supportive shoes since I'm on my feet all day at work. A salesperson was helping me try on shoes when this guy Byron, her boss I think, kneels down next to us to help another customer. A country song came on the radio, and Byron says, "All right, some country! Isn't this great? It's like we're in middle America! No cubans, just good old Americans!" To cap it off, the customer he was helping said her son was going to school in "Bama" and she knows how he feels. My wife is Cuban, and I've lived in Miami most of my life. I've seen and heard plenty of racist idiots, even in South Florida, but today has left me feeling like I need a shower. He realized right away how uncomfortable we were and tried to backtrack what he said, even gave us 10% off the shoes, but I still felt the need to post something. I'm mad at myself for not saying more at the time, and I plan on returning the shoes. I'll buy them at foot locker. read more

But after hearing Byron speaking to her about which shoe(s) would be right for her, I started to get interested because I needed some myself. In just a short time later, I had been taken through a better customer service experience than I've had in recent memory. I spoke to Byron (owner) on the phone and he was extremely helpful. I was looking for comfortable size 13 shoes in all black due to the work that I do. When he told me he had a good selection of shoes with those sizes, I drove over to check it out. I then had the pleasure of meeting Byron who has been in the business for many many years. I observed him speaking with other customers which you could tell he had a long history with, which tells me he must be doing something right that customers continue to come back. So, I was fitted and come to find out...I'm size 14! I narrowed down my selection to 3 different shoes and went with the one I felt most comfortable with. My wife her friends and I have been shopping at Runners High for many years. Recently I recommended the store to a friend, she brought a pair of Brooks running shoes. After walking about four miles in the aforementioned shoes she found them to be too wide for her feet. She went to Runners High expecting a refund or some help in selecting a shoe better fitted to her narrow feet, instead the recommendation from Byron and staff was for her to buy a $ 30.00 insert for the shoes. What a bunch of crap, when you buy a $130.00 pair of shoes they either fit or they do not. She left the store and needless to say felt it was a terrible experience. After this occurrence I will never recommend Runners High to anyone nor will I ever set foot in the place again. Shame on you Byron. I've been an athlete my entire life and although I'm not a runner exclusively, running's always been one of those things I've done because whatever sport I happen to be playing just requires it. Now that I'm no longer lacing up cleats or hitting any crazy 3-a-day practices, running's the sport that taken over. I run (mostly via treadmill) a few times a week and after moving back to Miami, I decided I was due for some kind of expert fitting. My San Francisco friends are all up on the cool kid stuff knowing what kind of step they have (neutral, overpronator, etc). Me, I've been shopping for sneakers at DSW or even online for years. If it's on sale and it's my size, it's good enough. Within 2 minutes of walking into The Runner's High, I learned this was not the case. The ever helpful Grace put me into kicks a whole size and a half over what I typically wear. You mean I've been running in shoes that are too small even though they're just about the size I wear in regular shoes?! Fast forward to the point where I'm running on the in-store treadmill, trying out a variety of shoes. Grace puts them on me and takes them off like I'm a queen about to hold court. Finally, I settle on paying $130 for a pair of sneaks. While it's well above what I wanted to spend, I've finally committed to the fact that I'm ready to take running seriously (and subsequently the health of my shins, ankles, and feet). I'm wearing shoes that are a size and a half bigger than what I'd wear on a non-sneaker basis, but I'm super excited to know that the peeps at Runner's High have my back, or my feet as it were. read more

Byron is the bomb. He is the main and best salesman in the store. He used to have a different store one shopping plaza down. My family has been buying shoes from Byron for almost 15 years. Every foot is different and there is a sneaker for your foot. Have a high arch? Flat footed? Run/jog a lot? Need an everyday + some walking shoe? Comfortable sandals that will stay on & are waterproof? They might put you on a treadmill to record how you jog/run. Do you come down heel first? Flat? Ball first? You might need different support, and they are the support you need to get the right shoe on your foot. Don't forget to get the special socks. Living in Miami Beach and driving to this location left me hoping that it really was as great as the reviews I read. I just don't wander out that far from the homeland!! Yes, I google mapped it, but let's be serious, 12 miles without traffic just seems so much closer. I went here on a Saturday and when I walked in I was greeted almost immediately, even though the store was pretty busy. I was here because I had started running daily, not a huge amount, but enough to the point where all of a sudden my knees and right side of my hip were hurting like I was 90. Before I decided to give up, I thought maybe it would help to try better running shoes and toss my outlet store Nike's to the wind. They sat me down and measured my feet, asked me what my concerns were, how much I ran each day, what type of running surface, etc. They are really knowledgeable about this, not just because they work there, but most of them have a passion for running so they know the deal! Then they threw me in some shoes and evaluated my stride on the treadmill. They recommended two types of shoes and I picked out my color. I paid for my shoes, hoping I hadn't just wasted a bunch of money on something that wouldn't work and was assured that I could bring the shoes back within 30 days if they didn't work out. Well, I still have my shoes and this was 3 months ago. I have no more pain when running (I run on asphalt) and own the most comfortable pair of running shoes I've ever had.
