Service: I asked for a two top outside. The hostess said all of the lakeside outdoor seating was occupied. I requested to sit in the front where they had corn hole and comfy patio furniture, all of which was empty, clean, open, etc. The hostess said people do not sit there. Surprised by the response I asked sarcastically if they were just decorative seating. She said no and allowed us to sit outside. Cocktails: We ordered two margaritas, one guava, the other strawberry rhubarb. The cocktails did not taste like these fruits. Based on what I tried it was okay, nothing spectacular food wise not still good. What is really good about this place is the view and I think that is what keeps people coming back! My fiancé and I went on our 5 year anniversary dinner there. We are from VA and come to Sackets every year when we go out for a night of wining and dining while visiting my cottage in Dexter. Our server was great and I am sorry I can remember his name. He was tall, athletic build, light brown hair. He started us off with 2 lemon drop shots from the bar that were great. It started to rain so we had to come into the bar and even though he was busy, he didn't miss a beat with our meals or the experience. Beautiful sailboats, cool gentle breeze and female mallards swimming add to the experience. I started with the Floating Island soup. This is a classic French Onion soup with a "floating island" of a crostini, topped with melted provolone, Swiss, and Parmesan cheeses. My favorite of the meal. Additionally, I had the Vermont Salad - a mix of greens, berries, candied walnuts, grated carrots, red onions, crumbled goat cheese and finished with a berry vinaigrette. For many years, this was our favorite restaurant in the area, but we were disappointed this year. We went there a couple of days ago, and the fish tacos were mediocre. My wife had fish and chips and said that it was greasy, and mostly batter. There's not a green vegetable anywhere on the menu. So we were hoping 3rd time would be the charm. Two stars for the ambience. Service has always been slow but this experience was strange. Ordered our drinks after waiting a bit for the server. Since we had her, we ordered our appetizers only to find out they don't do the Spinach and Artichoke dip in the summer because the oven makes the kitchen to hot. Which is odd because I'm assuming they use the oven to cook other things too? Wouldn't it be possible to warm up spin-dip other ways? How big is this oven? So many questions... Ordered the coconut shrimp which was good and the house chips with Chipotle dip which was good but not worth the money at all. No small dishes to make sharing easier. Apps arrived about 10 min before the drinks did. Which at that point we decided to not eat dinner here and try the place next store instead. Waitress was nice, drinks were fine, but, served shrimp with no napkins, plates or silverware, no lemon...it was quiet, except for the conversation at the end of the bar about a prominent local business owner, that was being bashed....so, I guess be careful who you are talking about around customers present...cause most of the info was not accurate. read more

So I asked to talk to the general manager and she said she is always in a bad mood you should talk to me I said no I'll talk to her what is her name she said Brandy wow what a peach she was so rude could tell she didn't want to be there and Malia has the same attitude as her. We enjoy and frequent The Boat House every summer. Tonight we were pleasantly surprised with a new menu, full of a lot of new choices. Everything we tried was fantastic! I am kind of sad to write this review, last year I went to Boathouse at least once or twice a week and I have absolutely loved it. It's probably one of my favorite restaurants in the area in the summer, but today I went, and I couldn't believe how pricey it was for what we got And the food was very greasy. I couldn't even eat it all , I was very disappointed, $57 for two sandwiches and a drink is pretty pricey. As far as I'm concerned!! I know all the restaurants have raised their prices but they're also charging a surcharge now if you use a credit card and don't have cash , it's just too bad because the place is right on the water and a lovely place to go in the summertime , I hope they will take this review into consideration and do better! read more

It was my first time here with my brother and his wife. The service is definitely slow, understandable with post covid, but our waitress was a drop and run person. She did ask "Is everything ok? Good!" Answered her own question not giving anyone a chance to answer before she left. My brother ordered the fried fish dinner based on the plates 2 tables on either side of us had, at $23. When his arrived, it was less than 1/2 the size in length and thickness, as those at the other tables. Apparently, he got the last available piece of fish, as others were told it was no longer available. I think they should have informed him that he would be receiving a child's portion and if he would like to order something else. When he immediately brought it to the servers attention, she simply said fish comes it different sizes. And quickly off she went. I'm sure restaurants typically have continuity in the dishes they serve. I noticed that other tables had a different server who actually spent time conversing with the customer. A poor server can ruin a restaurant. I would return to this establishment knowing that if I had a different server, they would have at least tried to make this right. I didn't even see our server as she literally dropped things and left. She spent seconds at our table from a distance. Another pleasant young lady refilled our drinks. read more

We own a camp at Pillar Point and have frequently eaten at the Boathouse and have thoroughly enjoyed the view and the food. But the last two times we had poor service. We had the salad with crab legs for dinner. The salad seemed like it had simply been gotten from a bag. There was nothing fresh about it. Hands down the worst experience I have had. If I could give it a worse rating I would. Waited for our food for over an hour and when it arrived my food wasn't even edible. Ordered the shrimp pasta, the noodles were so over cooked that some were even burnt and turned brown. It was swimming in a pool of oil with zero taste. One of the other guests at the table was given the wrong food. Honestly I could have managed all of that but what set it over the edge was when I spoke with the owner. He took zero responsibility for the poor food. He offered to buy a round of drinks to compensate, however why would I want to stay and drink after such a horrible experience? It felt as though he could care less and even tried to blame it entirely on our server rather than the cooks and the establishment as a whole. Not that our server did well anyway... Completely unprepared for a holiday weekend and if the owner was that unbothered by a well paying guests concerns why would you even bother!? We were so disappointed that the food and drinks were not good because the outdoor deck is beautiful to sit on! We made a reservation and were seated on time. The amount of seagulls grabbing peoples dinner straight off of their plates was wild! Of course this isn't the restaurants fault but it didn't seem like they did much to prevent this at al. We got the chips appetizer and were really disappointed. They were good but $6 for chips and a small cup of aioli is just insane! The food was bland and flavorless. The drinks had no alcohol in it and they were out of most beers and ciders! I do not think we will go back. The restaurant was not busy at all and the service was so slow. We waited 25 minutes to get our check. Next time we plan to eat at Goodfellos and just go walk over by the water instead. read more

Had lunch here on a quiet afternoon. We wanted to sit by the water and the location is great for that. Unfortunately the food wasn't as good as the view We shared the clam strip "small plate". The clam strips were a nice size but weirdly slimy in the middle. I've never had fried clams like that and was concerned about the quality so we decided to save our appetites for our main dishes. My husband had the chicken sandwich with caramelize onions. It was pretty good and came with nice home made chips. I had the wedge salad which wasn't remarkable. The waitress was very nice. She recommended the Mango Cart wheat ale which was delicious. Great choice but not a good enough reason to go back. read more
