Returned to the Seaway Grille for breakfast and they were amazing, again. Maggie, our Server, did a fabulous job at keeping us comfortable and served delicious food with a smile. We ordered the following: 1,000 Island Omelet (ham, onion, bell pepper, cheddar cheese, and tomatoes). The omelet was accompanied by perfectly seasoned potatoes, strawberries, and rye roast. The other order was the Harbor Breakfast (2 sunny side up eggs, turkey sausage, potatoes, English muffins, and strawberry). Both of these selections were flavorful, filling, and cooked to perfection. I cannot recommend the Seaway Grille enough and am so glad that it's conveniently located within the 1,000 Islands Harbor Hotel. read more

Our party of eight made reservations, but when we arrived the restaurant was nearly empty. Looking back, that probably should have been our first clue. Things went downhill from there. The appetizer we originally ordered wasn't available, so we ordered the crab dip. Unfortunately, it contained very little crab, had a thick, paste-like texture, and was so unappetizing that we barely touched it. The entrees were even more disappointing. Two chicken dishes were literally inedible due to their taste, appearance, and poor preparation. The pork chops were edible but very dry, and they weren't served with the side dish described on the menu. The steak was also overcooked, dry, lacking flavor, and also came with the wrong side dish. What made the experience even more disappointing was the complete lack of attention from management. With multiple meals left untouched or barely eaten, you would expect a manager to stop by the table, ask about the experience, or make an effort to address the obvious problems. That never happened. The one bright spot of the evening was our server, who was absolutely outstanding. She was attentive, friendly, professional, and did everything she could to make the best of a very disappointing dining experience. She deserves recognition because the poor food and lack of management were not a reflection of her excellent service. In an effort of some compensation we were given a couple plates of chocolate covered cherries and cream that were the best part of the entire meal. Too little too late. I enjoyed Christmas cocktails in the bar lounge area both evenings of our stay. Loved the upscale holiday ambiance and friendly staff. I ordered the Christmas Margarita both evenings and enjoyed the pomegranate blended nicely with triple sec and tequila, sage and cranberry. The first evening it was perfect blend but the second was made too strong but packed with ice, so completely two different cocktail's. I ordered grilled filet mignon medium rare that came carrots and potatoes. Large bread basket with several butter options. Unfortunately the steak was delivered with no pink in the middle so well past medium rare. Still tender and juicy though with Auju, carrots and potatoes were plentiful and cooked and flavored well. The food was mediocre at best. The service was slow but friendly. I ordered a Caesar salad with light dressing and blackened shrimp. It arrived swimming in dressing and no seasoning on the shrimp at all. My husband ordered the lobster ravioli. It was drowning in sauce and not very flavorful. Overall a disappointment. read more

Breakfast: Food was decent, albeit pricey. I had a country omelet, with English muffin and coffee, which was quite nice. Chairs were hard and needed pads on the backs. View was terrific. Service was good, and the food came straight out from the kitchen. Coffee was $4 each, but was the exact same coffee they provide for free on each floor of the hotel! Gorgeous views of the St. Lawrence River at this hotel restaurant! I prefer dining on their covered patio, but there is plenty of inside dining as well. Some of my dining highlights here: Their charcuterie tray has a generous variety of meats, cheeses, berries, nuts and condiments. At $19, it was a nice value. The clams we had on our first evening here were delicious! These clams are a seasonal Thursday night special, and I'm so glad I was able to try them. One pound of clams is $12.00. A dining highlight of my trip! Their evening bread basket has a variety of bread: olive, French bread and crackers. Also to note are the condiments served with the bread: butter, herbed butter and olive tapenade. Very good. Complimentary at the end of your evening meal is a chocolate dipped cherry on a pillow of whipped cream. Yum! The traditional Eggs Benedict had perfectly cooked poached eggs. It was straightforward and done well. The Seaway Grille also has a large, and fairly busy late afternoon bar! It's a full bar with imported, domestic and regional wine, craft beer, and any type of alcohol drink you desire. A cocktail menu, with some creative blends, may help you decide! read more

The bar at the Seaway Grille offers a unique dining experience and menu. If you're looking for a salad, shrimp quesadilla or something light this is the place to go. You sit at the bar and order and when you get your food you can either stay where you at or pay the bill and wander off to an outside table. These offer an awesome view of the seaway and a spectacular sunset. The bartenders are friendly and great. Some even wander off to your table or a nearby fire pit and ask if you need anything ( like a second drink or another menu item). The staff is super friendly and you don't have to order a huge meal. This is probably the best Hart Hotel that I stayed in. We really enjoyed it and visit it now more often when we are in the 1000 island area. read more

We have been going here for years. Today was probably the last time. Fantastic location and scenery. However, the service and food quality were likely outmatched by an area McDonalds or soup kitchen. We waited an hour for our breakfast to arrive. There were only 4 other tables and it was not during off-hours. Our french toast was extremely undercooked in the center and the eggs Benedict was cold. It had clearly been sitting out for quite some time. The hollandaise sauce had congealed prior to me having to scrape it off the eggs. Overall disappointing and overpriced breakfast. It was only enjoyable due to scenery, which was there long before this place. read more

It is the off season but the restaurant in the hotel is open all winter so if you live locally and are looking for a great upscale dinner with a beautiful view of the river this place has you covered! One never knows what to expect with a restaurant within a hotel, but the Seaway Grille. didn't disappoint. I had lunch there on 8/17/21. The service, the quality of food and beverages, and the ambiance were all very good. I had the lobster roll sandwich, wasn't sure what to expect, but the it was very tasty with big chunks of lobster and just the right amount of Mayo, etc. I had a tapped brew that was delicious and served in the proper chilled glass. We stayed at the beautiful 1000 Island Harbor Hotel and decided to eat dinner at the Seaway Grille. We would definitely recommend the hotel and stay there again. The Seaway Grille was a totally different experience. Our party of four each had the absolute worst food ever. Swordfish way overcooked, pork chop with zero seasoning or taste, bland seafood pasta, beef filet with no taste. We thought we would give it another try however the next morning for breakfast, I mean how could you ruin breakfast? We were served lukewarm coffee and proceeded to wait exactly one hour for our food, while others around us were served sooner. After our waitress was MIA and speaking with the hostess, we finally received our breakfast and the waitress told me that the wait was because of the tiny little potatoes in the corned beef hash that I ordered. The potatoes were cut into small pieces less than 1/2" square and were still undercooked (side note, we all had home fries on our plate and those were cubed large and fully cooked) and the beef was sliced deli meat that was cooked dry and hard. All other people in my party had terrible food as well. My advice is, if you stay at the very nice Harbor Hotel, DO NOT eat at the Seaway Grille! read more

Great location, but had a frustrating dinner experience. Upon being seated, it took 10minutes and 2 requests to have a server identified. The bus boy felt sorry for us and brought us some water. The server finally showed (she was very nice and did apologize). We order everything at once, to get things back on track. It did not help. Our drinks showed up around 20minutes later, with the apps. Dinner 45min later, which was delivered lukewarm. So it obviously had been ready to deliver earlier. Our server did send it back to kitchen to be reheated, at my request. Skipped dessert, it was just too long of a dining experience. I understand it was a holiday weekend, and they may have been short staffed. But they should have cut down on tables to match the staff that was available. I would chalk up this poor review to mismanagement. read more

We were told it would only take 15-20 min to be seated. We sat at the bar and ordered beers and an appetizer. We weren't officially seated till over an hour after we checked in. We then were placed at the Outside bar which nobody else was seated at. There were spider webs and a dirty counters that we faced. The TVs weren't even on. We waited 30 minutes before they actually took our order, and then it was another 50 min before we got our food!! And during the 59 minutes they never once checked our drinks. The food was delicious but not worth the 2.5 hours we waited for it!! The waiter did give us the 3 beers we drank free of charge, but that did not make up for the time we sat waiting. read more

This restaurant is located at Harbor Hotel. While the hotel grounds has a beautiful ambiance overlooking the water and gardens, i was a bit disappointed with the menu here. Almost every dish had chicken or some animal product in it. The one thing I ended up ordering was a harvest salad which was good but pricey for a salad. I recommend having more vegan or vegetarian friendly menu for guests. read more

Very unfortunate that a nice hotel has an awful breakfast. It started with three employees at the host stand, one on the phone and two others ignoring you. Place was mostly empty and the many employees seemed untrained. All the servers behind the bar making drinks. Why not have a professional bartender on a Saturday brunch. Slow slow slow and then the food. I have never had such overcooked and greasy food. Omelette had brown crust on it and the English muffin was served cold and soggy. Very unfortunate experience and surely won't be back or recommend. Upon arrival to the hostess stand, a server just stared and mean-mugged my mother and I without saying "hello, welcome" or anything at all. A hostess showed up and did offer a hello and took us to our table. We were offered a one-sided laminated menu that had maybe 10 options which was confusing as the menu's online didn't reflect what we were given. We ordered (2) Bloody Mary's to start which took forever. There were only (3) other tables in the whole place! I chose to have some chicken fingers and then the scallops. My mother had the crab cake sandwich. Chicken fingers were fine (I mean if you screw up fried food, you shouldn't be in the food business). When I got (3) tiny scallops (literally one-biters) served on a slice of lemon.....for $15 dollars I was shocked!! They served a "Gewurtztraminer Brown Butter" sauce with the scallops but it was far from a Beurre Noisette, it was super thin and lacked any real flavor other than lemon. My mom's crab cake was dry and topped with a creole sauce that over-powered the crab cake flavor but thankfully gave it some moisture. Such a bummer about the food. I ordered another Bloody (before I got my scallops) which took even longer than the first round. Lot's of staff there, why is it taking so long? Our server, Aleksandria(?), was fine but when it came to pay the bill she was quick to grab it and never saw her again for the remaining 25 minutes we were there. We saw a manager floating around but never made eye contact or spoke to anyone aside from a bus boy. I was primarily there to scope out the food and service as we're looking for a place to have brunch the day after our wedding in September but this place will not be in the running. Husband got the chicky parm sandwich, I ordered the fettuccine with the tuxedo for dessert. They also gave us some cut up fruit for our daughter which was nice of them. I walked in by myself at 8:10 on a Tuesday night , no line, no wait I asked for a table for one, they asked if I was eating , I said yes at least an appetizer. (I was unsure if i wanted more than the lobster dip) they said I'd have to sit at the bar. Im older i have a terrible back and needed a table to eat my dinner. There was no line , no one waiting, the hostess would if sat me if I committed to an entree. I walked out, I guess my money wasn't green enough for this yuppity place. After bringing it up with management she tried to make like I was there just for cocktails, I don't drink alcohol. i would understand not being seated at a table if I was there for a beer. this place might be for the rich rich types , but this place is much too arrogant for me to ever walk back in there. id blame whomever trained the staff. read more

I ate here three times while staying at the hotel. They have some good dishes but also some that were a miss. Since it's a bit pricey, I expected better food. For lunch, we got the fish and chips and the crab cake sliders. There was too much batter on the fish. The sliders were okay. For dinner, the risotto was the best part. It came with the duck, which would have been pretty good if it had a different sauce. The plum sauce was just too sweet. We also had the strip steak which was overcooked and dry in the middle. But it had a nice grilled flavor. We came here again on our last day for breakfast. I've been craving for eggs Benedict for a while and theirs were done right. We only ate here so many times because it was convenient. For a better dinner option, try Clippers Inn a few blocks away. read more

I was up in the North Country touring the Thousand Islands for the entire week. Already we had Ben to Alex Bay, Kingston, Clayton and Brockville. We were looking to dine on a Tuesday Night. The location looked inviting with the yachty displays and the exterior seating with two large firepits. We had about a 15 minute wait but that was ok. We were looking out over the banks of the river and the air was warm but not hot. We got a great table and the wait staff were nice and friendly. We elected to just share appetizers. Scallops in bacon, the Asian mushroom soup, the crab dip and pot stickers. I enjoyed al but my DH was not thrilled with the soup. My Cosmopolitan was a very poor. Someone did not know how to make it or serve it. I swear it was missing alcohol! We shared a fruit tart that was warm with ice cream. They end the evening with a pair of chocolate dipped cherries. Arrived at 5:00 for dinner, so it was not too crowded. Service was a touch slow for being almost empty. They were still serving the lunch menu at a few tables. Amanda, our server became attentive once we got going. Had the hot crab dip app, and it had good crab taste, but was a touch oily. My companion had the tomato soup, which was quite good, as well as the dinner special, ribs and chicken, which she enjoyed. I had the seafood scampi and it was great. All in all, a great meal. Very poor service. Went with group of 5 at 5:30ish time frame. All local home owners and three year round residents. Have eaten there many many times and food is average and not consistent but it is a beautiful setting. 95 % of tables were empty and not set for dinner. We sat down at an empty unset table and were rudely spoken to by a waiter saying if we weren't going to eat we could not sit there nor at any other table. We had not finally decided where to eat but at that point we did make a decision to have a drink at bar and eat some where else. We had two rounds of drinks and when we left at 7:00 most of the tables were still empty. Competitions at this price range is probably Clipper and Chateau.....both of which allow drinks at tables on the patio and in the bar room. Obviously, common sense would indicate that if the tables were almost full or all booked for dinner reservations than policy would be correct......a little common sense would go along way. read more

Ate here several times as I was staying at the hotel. Breakfast was basic, and OK. Nothing to write about. The lunches, salads and sandwiches were very, very good. I wish they'd have carried that menu over to dinner as well. Dinners were good, but cooked veggies always came loaded with grease. Same for shrimp I got extra with a meal. I don't mean a little, I mean a LOT. Like their cook was pouring about 4 tablespoons on the grill, adding food, and then making sure he scooped up the grease with the item. Grossly greasy really. I had a couple of other entrees like the seafood scampi, and ribeye. Both were ok, but nothing exciting, especially for the price. In total, go for lunch and enjoy the patio, dinner? If you're going for the view and patio, then pay the price and know your food will be, meh. read more

This place won the lunch roulette today as it seemed to be a place that could accommodate our stroller (definitely is stroller friendly). The setting of the outdoor patio is really, really relaxing and beautiful. They have a very large wine list and a couple draft beer options. We had the hot lobster dip as an app and it was delicious. Wife had the BLT (massive sandwich) and I had the fish and chips. Both meals were very good and the chips that came with her sandwich was really delicious. For how nice the hotel and setting are I was surprised with how reasonable the bill was. Service was friendly and was pretty quick. Glad we landed here today read more

We thoroughly enjoyed a lovely dinner tonight at the Seaway Grille. We had a sweet and efficient waitress who was from the Dominican Republic working for the for the summer. She couldn't have been nicer. The beer on tap was icy cold and hit the spot. The wine was also perfect. We had a pork tenderloin with bourbon sweet potatoes and a Weiner Schnitzel both cooked to perfection. And the lovely view should be mentioned. Perfect for a slightly more upscale date night than the surrounding restaurants with a view of St. Lawrence River from their patio. Worthy of a wedding cocktail hour, of which I'm sure they have many. No complaints about the food but also wasn't overwhelmed. We had a pork loin with fingerling potatoes and ribeye steak with mashed potatoes, plus their cheesecake. Our waitress was on point. While staying at the Harbor House we had the opportunity to dine everyday. it is had to tell if the problems with service are from the kitchen or the inexperienced seasonal wait staff. some issues were caused by a lack of common sense. For example, missing condiments delivered after the meal was completed. The set menu items seem to vary day to day. The preparation was not consistent. It was never busy at any of our meals and there seemed to be sufficient wait staff, so the missteps were inexplicable. The setting is beautiful. The menu is contemporary and appealing. The inconsistency in service and preparation were unfortunate. read more
